If you guys want to read the book this video is based on, then you should definitely check out "Lords of the Sith". Its one of my favorite Star Wars books, and in my personal top 3 within the new Canon books (behind Lost Stars and Thrawn).
Kind of weird that all the really good stuff is going to the Books and Comics and not the movies, but what do I know?
Well they can't explain every thing in the movies or shows. They can go deeper into the lore of anyone like smoke with a series of comics

IS0T0P3_90 From memory, Palpatine didn't actually sleep in the traditional sense for that reason. He was too paranoid. He used some sort of meditative state that allowed him to gain restfulness but retain awareness of his surroundings.

You know he’s badass when his “day off” is fighting giant monsters
Ever wonder how he got so good at combat? Him and plagueis used to visit some remote hostile planet and fight the natives just to practice their abilities. It was a sith tradition to visit this planet when the rule of two was put in place. So yes, quite literally his days off were to kill random people and things lol.
What a conundrum the guard ended up in. On one side, he knows the person he is guarding doesn't need him at all, so he can relax. On the other side, the person he is guarding can kill him with a thought so he can't relax.
And he better not say anything to him about "why do u need me then ?"
When you realize that your purpose is not to protect the Emperor, but to mercifully kill those trying to kill him.

Jethro Marwick I actually disagree. Not everything needs to be shown on film. It’s actually a really smart idea to keep these stories for the expanded universe. I know people don’t want to read a book about a movie, but in this case I feel like it’s a good idea, there are too many stories to tell for the series to be movies only.

Wolfgod 64 in the canon thrawn novel, (and I may have painted the wrong picture in my mind - as this was a book and not as clear as a movie or tv show) but I felt like palpatine was just sitting on a throne in the ground floor of the “imperial palace” (which is pretty open, not open to the public, but open as in like, massive open entrance ways kind of stuff, man my vocabulary is awful today ahah) but yeah, the part where thrawn and Eli go to meet palpatine, I felt like he wasn’t all that hidden away, like If someone was looking into a telescope from a 7-11, (errr.. or an admiral snackbar?) across the street from the palace, they’d be able to see him sitting there. Of course, I may have pictured that scene all wrong, I also might not even be remembering it right, maybe they weren’t even at the imperial palace in that scene.

It was said that he had the power to defend himself from his enemies.....
Mas Amedda was the only other exception. He witnessed Palpatine blast Yoda with Force lightning in RotS and lived to tell about it.
I read that book- it was fun, decently well written, and Palpatine was a surprisingly engaging and fun viewpoint character. And your description of his attitude and manner in the story summarizes it very vividly- especially how you describe the battle in the lylek nest. I laugh now to remember page after page of this. It was like Palp's fight with Yoda except he was having even more fun. It was... joyful.
So why did Palpy actually need guards that were so well trained? Why not just some regular Stormtroopers or Death Troopers? If they were killed, Palpy could've dealt with anything that came his way himself.

They don't protect Palpatine from his enemies, they protect his enemies from Palpatine.
because Sidious did not wan't to reveal his identity to anyone. The only people who Palpatine allowed to know he was a sith were Vader, his imperial guards and in legends a handfull of others. In some dangerous situations Palpatine wanted people to come out alive, if he revealed his powers everyone present had to die. Also the Guards were sent on missions for palpatine which required highly trained individuals, missions which were important but not worth the time of Palpatine or Vader. Also they're part of Palpatine's public image.

Tell ya, Lords of the Sith has been one of the best New Canon books so far that I've read. Great story but where it truly shines is most definitely showing just how both powerful and maniacal Sidious was. And getting more chances to see him in combat action was quite fulfilling.
So the crazy back flipping all powerful dude couldn't stop himself from being picked up carried and yeeted into a hole?
I'm sure the guard was most afraid of angering Palpatine enough to become a plaything of his. And he knew he was there not to protect Palpatine, but to protect the visitors from ever angering Palpatine to the aforementioned point by swiftly ending them.

Palpatine rarely even fights, he is more of a influential and behind the shadows threat, which is why every time he actually gets his hands dirty very cool to watch
Did rebel leaders such as Bail Organa and Mon Mothma know or suspect what Palpatine was? They certainly knew about the Jedi, they knew about Vader, and knowledge of the sith or at least the dark side of the force was certainly available to them.

Why did the empire decide to stop using clones? As in, why didn't they create more? When the race that made the clones rebelled, were they all killed and are there no other cloning facilities in the galaxy?

That one guard who survived - probably was the one who would become warlord and attempt to kill Kir Kanos - all that he saw would prove he needed more than his skills as a warrior, he needed the force.
Surely Palpatine should have killed the human guard too, if he didn’t want many people seeing him using the force to his full power. (Because while yes, that guard did know he could use it, I doubt he knew just how powerful he was).

If it’s a “secret” that Palpatine was a Sith Lord, why did he very openly and loudly discuss turning Luke to the dark side in front of hundreds of stormtroopers and officers? This was in Return of the Jedi right after he lands on the Death Star.

This is not the Canon you're looking for.
He was apart of the Chosen One bloodline, so the force was super powerful within him from the start. Because of that, he didn't need as much time to learn things as other force sensitives. He was basically a prodigy in the force.

After Palpatine died and before the Death Star II exploded, this Royal Guard managed to escape and blend in with a Rebel cell. He later escaped to Hutt space and wrote a tell-all book about his time with the Emperor, which became a galactic bestseller.
This is one of the many reasons why Palpatine is my favorite Sith.
This is the moment when you realise hundreds of hours of boring guardduty in front of an old "weak" man was all for naught. :P
