  • Subtitles available! Welcome, I'm happy you're watching again! At the moment, we are in France, in the lavender region of the Provence. In this video I'll be showing you the first part of my brand new travel art journal 'France 2024' and a flip through of my side project; a mini book of portraits. A big thanks all the new subscribers here, your generous donations and also thanks to everyone who has donated and joined one of my classes at www.braveart.academy. It really supports us continuing content for you. If you want to see the next adventures, please subscribe if you haven't already. For all the links, scroll down.
A brand new journal and a blank first spread
I'm always thrilled to start a new book, with new adventures to come, looking forward to our journey. Many popele are afraid to start. For me, this is the first meeting with the journal and I am curious and delightful to discover which colours will appear and which themes pop up.
The journal starts at the same time when our road trips starts. You must know, we're travelling for a out six months a year. This time, we'll be on the road for about 3 months, so that's enough time to fill a book!
    Mini book of portraits
Because we had longer driving distances in the first two weeks to go to the south of France (with a special destination), I didn't have much time to paint. That's why I set myself a little goal: to paint or draw a portrait each day. On most of the portraits, I worked less than 5 minutes, using various materials, like pens, charcoal, acrylic paint and Derwent Inktense pencils. At home, I already started on this book, and I prepared some pages to work on while on the road. You can see the full flip through at the end of the video.
    Poppy fields
Already on the first day we stumbled upon a mesmerizing poppy field, just behind the place we parked our motorhome. I really adore poppies, as they're so fragile and colourful at the same time. Please check out my class 'Fabuluz Flower Fields' if you'd like to create a painting with wild flowers. You currently receive 20% discount on this class.

    Giverny - Monet's Garden
Some places are on the top of my list to visit, for years. One of those places was Monet's garden, in Giverny. This is the place where Monet painted so many masterpieces, and is the ultimate place to see waterlilies. So, I had big expectations.
If you like seeing gardens, it's great. Everything is well arranged and taken care of. If. you don't want to see crowds of people, taking pictures, this is probably not the place for you. We were extra disappointed, as we haven't seen any waterlily in the pond, though it was already the beginning of June.
In the afternoon we visited the museum, which was really worth it!
    Animals
Time to visit a calmer place, in nature and surrounded by animals again! First we visited a mohair goat farm in Torcay with ducks, goats, hens and a peacock that found himself very important. He's still on my list to paint - I can't wait!
After that we had dinner in a great restaurant, Les Closeaux, in the Loire region. Then, we visited a place with black pigs. At these places there was plenty time to finally start with this journal.
    Places to return to
Some places are just so stunning, you'd like to return again and again. Peyrusse-le-Roc is such a place. It's a small town, where you can do a fantastic hike through a medieval ruin village. We've stayed here for 3 days, and I worked in my travel art journal as well as in my portrait art journal.
    Painting retreat
In the next episode you can see our next destination: the place where I was about to host a painting retreat, in the wonderful Aveyron area, so please turn on your notification bell!

Thank you dear Machteld! I’m happy you love the new colors. I thought I’d continue working with the blue palette, but it went differently.

Love your little portrait book. It really showcases your style of painting. Faces are my favorite things to paint and you've given me ideas on how to put them together in a keepsake book. ❤

😮This is just a few miles from where I live. I've taken a British friend to these lavender fields a few weeks ago. You've got a wonderful natural palette to get inspired from, and lovely sunsets ❤🇫🇷

    Salut !

Baiser, Luz 🙏🏼

Your journals are lovely! It is like sitting in nature with a cup of herbal tea and just looking at all the tree’s separately and seeing the beauty in each leaf or the sun peeking through. True peace and joy!
Are your journals handmade or do you purchase them? They seem to be made of canvas is that right? Thanks

Thank you so much 🙏🏼This is a Dina Waklwy journal from Ranger. It’s filled with watercolor paper, burlap, kraft paper and cotton. It’s great to work with. Unfortunately the production of these jourvajs has stopped, so they’re hard to find. Much love from France.

Can you tell me exactly the names of all the places you visited. I want to go to provence and italy and do my art journal

    • @luzartworks
      @luzartworks  Месяц назад

Thanks for watching! There's a video coming out in 2 weeks about the places we visited in the Provence, but to give you a heads up: We roughly followed the 'route de la lavande' from this website with all details, a roadmap and places to visit. routes-lavande.com/en/
But beware! Most lavender has been harvested already, so it's best to visit this gorgeous area from mid June until early July! There still may be some fields unharvested, but the chance to see everything in full bloom is mid-end of June.
