I'm starting to think that King Boo focuses on luring Luigi with the only one thing that works: A promise of luxury, good food, and fun. At some point Luigi is going to be so paranoid that the next game is just going to be him in therapy except the therapist is King Boo. That or King Boo is just gonna lure Luigi with a donut hooked on a fishing rod.
In the second game as someone else said Luigi didn't know King boo was there it was Egadd that pulled him in to sort the problem out for him. Luigi already stopped king boo in the first game and that would have been the end of it but Egadd wasn't able to keep king boo contained he literally sold the king boo painting thats how he got out. And the 3rd game Helen gravely rescues king boo and releases all egadds ghosts. Honestly I put all blame on Egadd

1:32 - Technically it is only the second time he took the bait. And argueably he didn't take the bait at all. In Dark Moon Luigi wasn't tricked into coming to the Mansions, E. Gadd beamed him there *after* shit already went south. And IIRC from the opening of Mansion 3, it is not made clear if this was Luigi's vacation or Peach's or Mario's vacation and they invited him along.
In terms of the backing track, that clarinet is absolutely masterful. It adds so much personality, and it's a fantastic addition to the soundscape. I could listen to the clarinet bits all day.

Im going to speculate about the Hotel itself. I think the Hotel may have once just been a rich people's getaway from a long time ago, the hotel even in it's haunted form has some fancy rooms, and it is in the middle of some gorgeous scenery. The hotel is also not just some place to stay it is also THE destination as each floor has something that people would want to see, hence the Egyptian place, the Museum, Medieval show, the pirate bay beach, these are things people would be interested in seeing. It probably fell apart because obviously Hellen Gravely, the owner, died. The hotel was then abandoned by the living and inhabited by ghosts, some taking the floors of what ties in to when they were alive (Egyptian, Caveman), or what they did for a living (Mall cop, Film maker).
"Before you watch the whole thing again" This is a warning, I've watched the video more times than I can count, but maybe even in the 80s... 10/10, brings me back to my childhood showing friends the first one on the way to summer camp in years past. I had the first memorized because I listened to it so much. I bet the same will happen with this. Thanks Brent, for making me feel like a young carefree kid again.

3:44 I still don't get why they don't DODGE that. Mario could easily grab Peach and Jump out of the way. Shadow Mario could still do all of Mario's Moves while carrying Peach in Super Mario Sunshine after all.
