Living Colour... quite possibly the most underappreciated band of all time. Insanely talented guys! Jazz, metal, rock, funk, reggae, pop, these guys could do it all, and more importantly, sound amazing while doing it! xD
Maybe they should have tried making bad braind dead music for a change... Seems really popular... But since I rather have them making good original music than rerashing old stuff or making public health hazards, I guess we all get to live with their amount of fame.
Jaymon1203213 I agree completely! Muzz Skillings and, now, Doug Wimbish from Living Colour, among other masters such as Peter Tosh, Flea, Bootsy Collins, dUg Pinnick, Victor Wooten, Geddy Lee... (you know what I'm gettin' at...) have been blowing my mind for 30 years... I just keep on playing and hoping for a miracle when I wake one day to do anything close to this impressive. This is one of the coolest, smoothest, multiple-genre-encapsulating bass lines I've ever heard.
During today's concert in Paris, Corey Glover dedicated this song to a friend. It was very emotional. Glover wept when the song ended. Reid told us about their recently deceased friend whose birthday happened to be today. I guess we all felt sorry for their loss. Yet we had an amazing concert at the same time. Such great musicians!
Yes very emotional i was there also, Corey was crying at the end of the song and took a few seconds to catch up. What a concert ! I will remember all my life, and glad to have done it with my father because nothing last for … So glad to have been able to meet the band at the end and even some pictures with them. The band was so delicate with everbody and took the time.
I’d love so much to see them again. I saw them play a smaller venue in Australia in maybe the late 80s…amazing performers. This is my favourite song of theirs.
"Nothingness" Like a descendant, I drifted far, far and wide Isolation, separation, nowhere to hide Maybe there's somewhere I can go Where there's sunshine and the wind won't blow Nothingness All I have to feel is my loneliness Nothing in the attic 'cept an empty chest And nothing last forever Although there are many, I look for no one, no one but me I search for things that are taking me high and far out of reach But this is the place I will call my home I live with the lies and the fear all alone Nothingness, All I have to feel is my loneliness Nothing in the attic 'cept an empty chest And nothing lasts forever Oh Nothingness All I Have to feel is my loneliness Nothing in the attic 'cept an empty chest And nothing lasts forever Nothingness Loneliness Empty chest and nothing lasts forever Nothing lasts forever Nothing lasts forever.
eb49273 the album version of this track was far better but I agree. this band faded into obscurity after their first release. I still follow them and admire them immensely. which one of them attended Berklee btw? I always thought it was Wil Calhoun...but I could be wrong. it was because he did that I wanted to attend there myself.
I went to see a Bad Company concert in San Diego back in 1992 or 93. During the intermission they played most of the "Times Up" cd. Up to that point I was only familiar with cult of personality. Since that night I wound up buying all their music and I would agree these guys are one of the most underrated rock bands that ever played.
How can you tell if a song is timeless? If you can enjoy it as much as you did when you first heard it. I got "Stain" when it first came out and that's already 20 years ago, man time goes fast.
They played Cult of Personality on Head Bangers Ball one night and it turned me on to these guys. (Like 1989 I think, my god I'm old) Being a huge Alice Cooper fan (of his early work) I really like musicians that shuffle off hard genre classification and just make the music they want to make when they want to make it.
I miss Headbangers Ball with Vanessa Warwick. I watched MTV Europe and just googled that it came back to MTV Germany in October 2019. I have to check that out. MTV playing Hard Rock and Metal again? Music in general? I am amazed. 😎
Right now I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of music this band has given to all, and literally has been with me since my childhood and is still here today. Completely beautiful!!! Thank you.
You are the stupid one, taking out of context what I said. Learn how to read before going out of your mouth with such stuidity. If somebody is racist, that's you who frames everything in the 'race' point -of-view .
Outstanding band. Awesome tune. My friend (and great drummer) Pat turned me on to these guys, and we covered them liberally. RIP Patty G., and thanks again.
See you guys , December 6th in Maastricht! Can't wait for my first attendance! Yes, born in 1974, digging your talented musical outpouring since the 80's. But not afraid to admit missing out for waaay to long! Keep it up brothers!
Truly, one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands the music industry has ever seen. What gigantic talents these men are...shame on the industry for not showing them the fame they so richly deserved. Corey Vernon "Muzz" Will Thank you for the memories and the stellar music you have left us with.
I had the luck to see them at a early 90ties concert in Bielefeld Germany. I know, that especially Vernon Reid is an outstanding Jazz musician and I can't find words suitable for the quality of L.C.'s music and the way it reaches my heart, my soul and my body.
I loved this song as a child, but forgot about it over the years. Today I stumbled across the song Cult of personality and I suddenly remembered my old favorite. Nothingness! It’s still so good!
Just heard this song for the first time right now. Great composition/structure, melody, and holy crap that is one smooth, funky bass line. Awesome song.
I was adopted also! There was a man by the name of Wayne Dyer , that wrote many self-help books, and he said your friends are God's apology for your family! I feel that very much!
Amazing band that never got the hype they deserved. This is one of my fave songs of theirs along with the infamous "Cult of Personality". Brilliantly talented band
Lots of melancholy in this song and bass supports this feeling while the voice from low and shy tries to cry out to others the battle inside. And then turns again to surrender to sad reality..
first time i heard this band something clicked. a band that is soooo underated and brilllant live, the first album has got to be one of the most awsome albums i have ever heard in my life
Living Colour... quite possibly the most underappreciated band of all time. Insanely talented guys! Jazz, metal, rock, funk, reggae, pop, these guys could do it all, and more importantly, sound amazing while doing it! xD
Not in Argentina. They have a great reputation here, specially between musician and rock press
Angelic Storm i saw them in Italy, amazing!
It is true, in fact, is a cult band here...
Angelic Storm facts
Maybe they should have tried making bad braind dead music for a change... Seems really popular...
But since I rather have them making good original music than rerashing old stuff or making public health hazards, I guess we all get to live with their amount of fame.
As a bassist, I have relentlessly searched for smooth bass lines. This is quite possibly, one of the smoothest I've ever found.
+Jaymon1203213 check out Otel Burbridge if you haven't already
+Jaymon1203213 i am a guitarist but i agree, always been one of my favourites, favourite song and bass line that is
Part of it is that he's playing a fretless bass, but yeah, its a magnificent line.
So smooth.
Jaymon1203213
I agree completely!

Sorry guys. This is what talent sounds like.
Your so right
So blessed it was dropped in my year.
Which is why the Stones wanted them as “The” support act! This tract is sublime!

Have you seen their Chris Cornell tribute? Another emotional performance
I’d love so much to see them again. I saw them play a smaller venue in Australia in maybe the late 80s…amazing performers.

"Nothingness"
Like a descendant, I drifted far, far and wide

Nothing in the attic 'cept an empty chest
And nothing last forever

Nothing lasts forever
Nothing lasts forever.
Thank you!
Soooooo gooooood!!!
51 years old and searched n searched and still all i found was nothingness.
.THANK YOU NOTHINGNESS....🙏💖
Amazing song. Underrated band. They have so much talent. It's a shame that their best songs were never popular.
The best music is rarely the most popular.
eb49273 the album version of this track was far better but I agree. this band faded into obscurity after their first release. I still follow them and admire them immensely. which one of them attended Berklee btw? So true
This is the case with many many great artists who are way more interesting than the ones who get awards for Nothingness! Terri Leckner, mtl, qc
Right because the Grammys and mtv music video awards they won when they were originally active is a tell tale sign of how underrated they were
Living Colour is one of the greatest bands to ever bless the atmosphere with the sound of pure talent.
I agree
What a great song. Sad that it doesn't get more recognition.
Diggin Living Colour more these days than ever before. I was there on their debut.
Terrific tune
Funky, soulful and swinging. It's what they've done for 30 yrs
How can you tell if a song is timeless?
If you can enjoy it as much as you did when you first heard it.
I got "Stain" when it first came out and that's already 20 years ago, man time goes fast.
Yes
30 now but a timeless masterpiece
Living Colour hits on a lot of issues of the day.
Sadly, a lot of the issues they sing about still rings true today
Bassline is totally awesome! Very fundamental and creative at the same time
I was upset when Muzz Skillings left the Band but Doug Winbish brought something different and I daresay deeper to the bands sound.
Totally agree. Winbish is like the Jeff Beck of bass players.
I've played this 10k at least in my 55 years on earth THANK YOU. 💖👍👌✌️🤟✨️

Well said! I can't get past how good his voice is...

one of the songs of my life, no doubt
Greg Jacques yeah dude...i know it... :'(
I fucked up, more than a few times also. Now it's just me.
me too,100%
One of the many songs by these guys still gives me CHILLS everytime I hear it.
Thought I was the only one.
Love this album. So deep. So original. The sounds... Vernon is amazing. All of them. And the philosophy beneath make Stain perfect.
Right now I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of music this band has given to all, and literally has been with me since my childhood and is still here today. Completely beautiful!!! Thank you.
A naturally powerful voice that doesn't need to over work it. Wonderful.
Living Colour, a gem amongst a pile of stones. Who thought a black rock band play thios kind of music? Rock at its best!
You are the stupid one, taking out of context what I said. Learn how to read before going out of your mouth with such stuidity. If somebody is racist, that's you who frames everything in the 'race' point -of-view .
PAULA Perez Wake up and find a job!
Paula and Jim, nice verbal exchange. U win Paula. Would have been flawless without the name calling but hey it's human nature.
You should check out Fishbone, then!
I never knew there was a video for this song. Stain was a road trip record for awhile...
Johnny John *
Most UNDERRATED group of all time imo!!!
Simply the best song ever. Thank you gentlemen! Loved you from the beginning and today.
Outstanding band. Awesome tune. My friend (and great drummer) Pat turned me on to these guys, and we covered them liberally. RIP Patty G., and thanks again.
This just sums it up in a few short minutes, a 400 page book couldn't touch it, brilliant, miss you guys
See you guys , December 6th in Maastricht! Can't wait for my first attendance! Yes, born in 1974, digging your talented musical outpouring since the 80's. But not afraid to admit missing out for waaay to long! Keep it up brothers!
Super psyched to finally be able to see these guys live next week - if they play this song my life will be complete!
God bless you guys.
Loving you since early 90s.
Love love love.
Truly, one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands the music industry has ever seen.
What gigantic talents these men are...shame on the industry for not showing them the fame they so richly deserved.

Thank you for the memories and the stellar music you have left us with.
❤ God bless all of you and your beautiful music...
25 years and still amazing!
I had the luck to see them at a early 90ties concert in Bielefeld Germany. I know, that especially Vernon Reid is an outstanding Jazz musician and I can't find words suitable for the quality of L.C.'s music and the way it reaches my heart, my soul and my body.
Always loved this song...
Loved Living Colour for decades now
Underrated band and song. Pure brilliance in the lyrics.
Haunting, yet so smooth and beautiful...
Definitely one of my favorites
This is my favorite Living Colour song. I wish they would do it live.
This song still makes me weep inside. It so lovely.
Great music, even greater lyrics, brilliant song‼️🎶
One of the most powerful rock bands, yet unknown to many.
I loved this song as a child, but forgot about it over the years. Today I stumbled across the song Cult of personality and I suddenly remembered my old favorite. Nothingness! It’s still so good!
and nothing last forever!!
love it, well done Living Color u help me with my flash backs of the ol party days......
So fortunate to see them open for King Crimson. Unreal. One of the best shows I have ever seen.
Baixo Maravilhoso dessa música ❤️
One of my favourite songs ever:-) it makes me dreaming.......
Never understand why this song did not reach the top 3 in the dutch hitcharts:-)
Just heard this song for the first time right now. Great composition/structure, melody, and holy crap that is one smooth, funky bass line.
Awesome song.
This band shows there is no difference in life. It's hard we all have to be.
I love it! This is the story of my life. Great song!
My favorite Living Colour song of all time.
this was my 2nd favorite off Stain. the last track, Wall was sublime and had a great message.
fabulous, mesmerizing, amazing, best... thank!
love this group
Love the crickets followed by that AWESOME bass intro... Sigh, I miss the 90's BADLY...
As an adopted person, this song pretty much captures the internal struggle I have to manage daily.
jedifulla wow. Yes.
I was adopted also! There was a man by the name of Wayne Dyer , that wrote many self-help books, and he said your friends are God's apology for your family! I feel that very much!
For my Grandpa Wayne Calhoun, rest in peace, I will be there soon.
Good music and a very beautiful videoclip
What an underrated band. I had not heard of them until today.
Can we have the 1080p version the song deserves, please :)? Thank you from 2023.
Amazing band that never got the hype they deserved. This is one of my fave songs of theirs along with the infamous "Cult of Personality". Brilliantly talented band
Saw them at festival hall. Very cool. Great job 👏
One of my favorite tunes ever
One of the greatest songs from the 90's)
Lots of melancholy in this song and bass supports this feeling while the voice from low and shy tries to cry out to others the battle inside. And then turns again to surrender to sad reality..
These guys are and always have been inspirational
such music, such music
Simplesmente genial!
Ótima banda!
Simplesmente magnífico!

I love that song.
Great bass sound.
Beautiful.
first time i heard this band something clicked. a band that is soooo underated and brilllant live, the first album has got to be one of the most awsome albums i have ever heard in my life
I love this Bass ❤️🎸
Great.
Doug Wimbish just fucking carries this song, with a bass-line sounding like a soothed-out, funked-out, snappy sonic wheel-barrow.
TOTALLY agree- Wimbish is a fantastic and tasteful player. Wotta talent!
Word.
That's a fretless bass. Makes for smooth flow note-to-note.
yes a very exceptionnal band with very great musicians !!
wow! such a smooth sound.
Amazing
tremendous band. great performers.
such an amazing track. it hitted me back then, hard...
The bass line is a killer. Fantastic song
