I've been telling people for years..get involved in the tv/film industry...you always get paid upfront, always collect royalties and you can work when you want instead of being bogged down by the daily tasks of running a full time music business..the majority of the time your publishers handle everything for you for a percentage of the publishing. and you get to work with big companies that have massive budgets and aren't looking to screw you over plus you get the opportunity to hear your music in films and national television..its not perfect either but it beats chasing artists and having to deal with shady record labels.
I mean this man do give good information but he's also not very mature and likes to go after pretty much anyone that says anything negative about him it's sad really cause I've learned alot of what I know from him but our mindsets are hellah different 😅
It’s crazy cuz I had 2 placements and one even went Billboards but took so much hassle to get paid for a few hundred dollars. I’ve been paid more from randos for an exclusive deal lmao
Thank you for dropping the best and most honest advice I've seen from a young music producer thus far regarding finances!!! Everyone (not just music producers) needs to watch this, write down what was said, and keep multiple copies of this video on file to re-watch and remind themselves to always save your money and to live below your means!!! This is excellent advice that very few offer and even less are willing to follow or appreciate. Thank you for making this video!!
as i said, i know i'm 100% blessed to be doing this as my job, never claimed it's worse than a 9-5, just wanted to show some not so glamorous things that people don't think about . thanks for watching man
@Gino_567 people watch for real advice. Statistically, the majoriry of viewers are 9 ~ 5 ers. Trust me, if thry got out of the grind and became a full time producer, the novelty would never wear off.
9-5 is not harder lol and I will die on this hill. I’ve done both. I’m currently self employed and the stress and work is far harder. A lot of days I have to work till I sleep.
Good video bro. The management cuts on publishing deals remain insane to me.. imagine getting a 100K loan from a bank, and giving away 20%, to then still having to pay back the 100K + interest. That's the absolute worst financial descision ever. Keep this in mind!
Been a full time producer / songwriter for 10 years now. Started with nothing, done the grind, and have had some good years. You speak lots of truth across the board. Keep it up 👊🏼
I did produce music for like 3 years and I made really good beats. But in those 3 years I really isolated myself and barely saw anyone to the point where I got social anxiety. The number one thing to producing music in a healthy way are to keep socializing.
Yo You dropping gems! I definitely be switching shit around on my you ube and that's probably why the algorithm hasn't been working in my favor for a long time
I still have my 9-5 and live doing both. It’s harder to make music but very possible I love having health insurance for my whole family at a discount lol 😂 btw you’re killing it bro 🔥
Even though money is important so is happiness. I see it as “I’m still loving what I do.” Even though taxes and labels not paying messes it up. U can see he’s still getting by living on his own yk
Especially I don’t even live in the US. How do I even communicate and try to make them pay 😢 I’ve recently lost a deal because I’m not familiar with the industry, and got ghosted after some slow responses.
I understand how you feel i can’t relate I’m not at the point but I’m Glad you were able to speak about it and think about things like that i never try to forget why i started making music so definitely the passion for it and love is keeping me going or most producers
damn kxvi! never knew your life is so busy! its true that handling everything costs time but that's what a person gotta do chase your goals until you achieve them!🐐
Thank you for the video. I love making music and I'm still learning to mix and master. I've been designing for a long time. So I can make my websute and logo. I plan on being an Independant producer/rapper I plan on doing the work myself for as long as I can. When I make it then I'll reveiw if I need to hire people or not. I'm making music all the time in Fl Studio. It takes anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to make a song that I'm happy with. I have what I need now in my room so when an idea comes I can make a beat. Some of my 808's are crazy who knows maybe a couple of them might make me some money. I'm tryng to make stuff that's different then the usual stuff.
Hella accurate, it pretty much forces you to collect money from as many different avenues as you can. Royalties, kits, BeatStars, courses, Adsense, etc. If your very very disciplined and goal orientated you more then likely won’t get financially punished as hard when your revenue takes its dips. Def have all your ducks in a row before you quit your job that shit about not having a boss is tougher then it sounds.
Yoooh. I clicked this video and I was like yeah. Finally someone mentioned it.😪💔. People need to know it comes with different things not that it can't be handled and it's not doable but it's gonna need a very responsible person to be a full time music producer.
Bro I am converting from 9 to 5 to full time production and this is exactly what I needed to see in the best moment. Not that you scared me away, but it's good to know these things and have them on the radar. Thanks a lot! God bless

Why not invest more so the tax bill gets down and you will upgrade your income. It could be promotion, new equipment etc. The accountant can help you with that, if you tell him/her you want to optimize your taxes. I'm not American, but I think Puerto Rico has lower taxes.
yo i just stumbled across your page I've been wanting to do this full time and trying to be more consistent with my posts do you have any tips for just keeping quality and quantity in a 50/50 split?
No, publishing is only one kind of royalty. So a 360 deal would be publishing, master royalties, ticket sales, merch, etc etc etc. publishing deal is only for that part of it

this video goes crazy man, so much value and transparency, appreciate it 🫡
Never had a 9 - 5? With all due respect.. there is no dark side to being a producer when compared to a 9 - 5. Very informative though and sincere.
as i said, i know i'm 100% blessed to be doing this as my job, never claimed it's worse than a 9-5, just wanted to show some not so glamorous things that people don't think about . thanks for watching man
@@prodkxvi I understand. you have great work ethic and you are very sincere. Hope things continue to expand for you.
as much as a 9-5 sucks ass, I can see the novelty wearing off pretty quickly doing what he's doing.

So true about no schedule and making beats/music to feed the algorithm

I just need 5 mins talk with you bro!! please
