I love the size argument. It's a silly but very real issue, looking the part is so important!. I shoot with a Sony A7Riii but if I do any corporate work I attach my battery grip to make the camera look bigger and more impressive. To the laymen it really helps reassure them that I am in fact a professional.
S L ever use a 600f4 handheld ? (Or 400 2.8) the size helps majorly here. One could argue that these lenses are what full frame is truly made for. For image quality in the 16-200mm range medium format is the right tool.
I am very happy that I purchased finally the Canon 1DX Mark II. I use it primarily for Wildlife and here bird photography in combination with a Canon 600mm 4.0 II. Simply stunning what this camera delivers. Best ever made by Canon.
You will love it I promise! I upgraded from my 5Diii about 2 months ago to this camera and even after being 2 years old I still think it still is a rock solid performer and will be even when the replacement comes out in a year +. People either hate this camera or love it and to each their own. I personally had canon lenses and I LOVE how beafy and heavy it is. I'm not some hipster with weak frail arms who can't hold something less than 5lbs for a few minutes, or wear a 20lb pack for hours of hiking and almost die. No I accept it for what it is and move on. I've used sony and fuji as well and to me they just feel toyish even though they are great performers, I just feel something different when I pick up the 1dxii. I have no regrets what so ever. I can capture amazing photos and I love the video. I don't care about the 1.3x crop that's 2 years old tech so of course compared to new tech it's not the best but really my 24mm lens ends up being a bit more like 35mm Oh well. I have a 17-40mm and it looks fantastic as well. The files yes are MASSIVE!!! Esp in 4k 60p and if you have a slow computer and are not editing with proxies your computer will catch fire (NOT REALLY) but yes I do find myself usually shooting in 1080 or 4k 24p and shrinking the footage to a 1080 timeline and exporting no issue. As far as LOG is concerned you can get decent results with messing with the Faithful profile however, I downloaded the James Miller Log for about 15$ and I think it works very well in grading or adding LUT's and capturing detail. No camera is perfect and there will NEVER be a perfect camera to end all camera debates because if that happens then that company just sold themselves out of business. Why do you think Sony hasn't released the A7SIII yet? You know it's probably sitting on some shelf somewhere ready to go. They will wait till after the holidays till they maximize their A7iii sales and then probably release in spring right in time for summer travel ect. Also if you want a bad ass camera with C-Log, find a used 1Dc for about 2800-3200 and you will not be disappointing.
@@jdpst20 I agree! Just tested some new cameras and so my 5d mk2 doesn't feel as fancy as when I bought lol. I don't care that this camera is two years old so I'll probably get it soon
so after hundreds of thousands of reviews from almost every single youtuber for the last 2 years you decided to go ahead and read us the specs which everyone knows by heart by now? and start another comment war where XT3, A73, GH5, Z7 are thrown in a mix?
Yes, the IDX MK III is out. I wanted to venture into 4k. I had two 7D MK IIs and they were fine. I also have a C100 MK II. I bought two IDX MK IIs for the price of an IDX MK II or a C200. I want to stay small and yet have two cameras. I am not impressed with the mirrorless realm. I may look at the C200 if I start shooting long form 4k.
Ow, and ... dual pixel focus is nice, but... you need to touch the camerascreen! You can use perhaps a remote of some kind, but sadly there is no WiFi, so ... no standard app to control the camera. Further, for video, like all DSLR's... you miss a lot of video tooling. AI Servo with dual pixel is nice, but.... not always that accurate in my opinion... I shoot windsurfing, and it tends to 'float' away a bit... it seems you have something in focus , while actually it isn't. Sadly, with no focuspeaking, it's pretty darn difficult to see if it is in focus, especially with narrow DoF. For photo's... there is no better! 1D's always have been great. I disadvantage perhaps, is that with AI servo, you can choose to 'see' what is in focus , but the dancing around of the focus point is bit distracting. Further... focuspoints are only in the center of the frame. And like I stated, I had oil issues on the sensor.... it's getting less, but I have to clean the sensor almost everytime, with 'wet' sensor cleaning, something I never had to do with my 5D's (which only needed some dry brush cleaning. But.... I really think this is my last DSLR since, mirrorless is getting so close now in perfomance. Only thing with the 1D... is a brick, a tank., with Canon's white lenses, it can take a beating! My camera is really in good condition, despite the fact that I shoot at the sea side, sometimes in pooring rain and very stormy weather. And... there is NO replacement yet for a 1D-XmkII with a 500mm / F4.0! Nikon perhaps, but... mirrorless... not without adapters. Sony and Panasonic simply don't have tele that big! Still, pretty impressive for such an 'old' camera already haha, was the first with 4K/60fps fullframe!
all the complaints; reminds me of Apple QC situation. these companies are number 1. at the top of their industries. so they simply don’t have to budge. and it will never be too late for them. they have the most money/resources/experience. they are not going anywhere. regardless of competition.
@stupidfresh305 10 bit video, working ISO 6400 at Panasonic gh5s, 6к video scaling for 4k, low weight, 4k 50p on cheaper flash drives, rotate screen, 2-slot parallel video recording
And as a someone who shoots with big glass, at fast jets and warbirds at Aviation and Airshow events.... and who NEVER does any video... THIS would be my choice hands-down. The ergonomics, menus, DPAF, color science ... get it done. However, until I could justify that price tag, my 5D Mark IV will have to continue doing its job. All this complaining over VIDEO, for many of us, becomes moot.
Having owned this camera for over a year, it is not my fave. Heavy, takes a toll in the arm especially when put on a gimbal. During burst mode, Continuous af is only available on OVF, not live view. In live view there is also a black out which can be annoying. 4k mjpeg takes a lot of resources, so i stay with 1080 for now. No clog flat profile and wifi (needs additional module). On the other hand, canon colors are great, 120fps is buttery smooth, Low light is also good. It is not travel friendly so I use it only for paid professional work. Right now fuji xt3 specs are similar to 1dxii, so im keeping an eye on that cam if that can replace my bulky and cumbersome 1dxii
The difference is all in the bitrate not the features... A7iii is 100mbps whereas the 1DX2 is 850mbps. Those extra 750mbps means you can do way more with the Canon in post.
It is a paid content by Canon, right? I await more videos on this topic, on either, the pro and con side. Canon surely tries to max out all they can of this camera, as the mainstreams swings towards mirrorless. Btw.: I am a Canon shooter, but this is a hell of a beast with only 20 MP. It’s a NO Buy for 2019.
This is not meant to be sold for consumers. It is a professional camera and well legit for anyone who shoots professionally in 2019. The megapixel comment tells alot about your pixel peeping hobby.

I switched out for one body for stills and one body for video, both using the same lens mount, which is micro four thirds.

Fuji XT3: Hold my beer 🍺
@stupidfresh305 Aye, sir
I shouldn't have gone with filmmaking.
Photography is so much cheaper.
The top tier cinemacamera costs about 50-100k dollars :D
yes, but video editing sells better than stupid lightroom presets
and, you can always buy a bmcpc 4k
those cameras are mostly for rent. tho you have to know what you are doing not to fuck up)
medium format cameras are up there too
@@ZaryPhotography Sure. But Medium Format is more the specisl stuff. A IMAX 70mm camera comes in at around 1 million dollars.
Nice review 😊

mine just hit 1 million and an extra 300,000 actuations, and has never been to CPS for any repairs ......
Honestly, I just shot a video with 1dx mark 2. It's on my RUclips channel. I had my own issues with it.

It’s a good video but there’s some things that are misleading and kinda wrong.
Got this Camera but biggest minus is no flip screen
b/c it is a pro camera not for vlogging and in harsh environments you cannot have a vulnerable flip screen. imagine sand getting in the hinge

@stupidfresh305 does ARRI have autofocus? in Red is the focus?

All good points. The only thing I don't really like is also the 4k codec. I can get over everything else.
Kotodama Midnight. As long as they buy it, would be glad to sell it. 👌
ITS tIME 4 THE PRICE TO COME DOWN
sONY A7III HAS ALL THE FEATURES AT 2000usd Except 4 the Speed in still pics
I guess because it shoots 4k at 60fps they keep the price up
You sure he A73 has everything?

what? it is not fullframe?
who knew...
It is full frame. Just not in 4k video mode.
One of the big reason is they can afford it too😅😅
sorry its out of date even with a cupboard full of canon glass i would not spend that amount of money on a dslr in 2019
Lucky it's still 2018 then
But...the 1DX MkII is a full frame sensor, not a crop sensor...
And in 4K?
Can you give me one :)😂
