So, what happens when your cross the greatest 16 bit machine ever created (the Super Nintendo) with the excessive talent of Squaresoft's "Dream Team" (Final Fantasy's Hironobu Sakaguchi, Kazuhiko Aoki, musical composer legends Nobuo Uematsu & Yasunori Mitsuda and legendary character designer Akira "Dragonball" Toriyama)?
Simple. One of the greatest games ever made, on any format, on any hardware generation.
As many others, It was not released in Europe (to my great sadness) so it was many years later that I was able to enjoy it.
A Wii Virtual Console port is the number 1 request from everyone all around the globe, but this will be tricky, too many people (none of them are at Square-Enix at all) to get the permission to do so... but this has to happen, it just does!*
Hope the intro brings back to you as many fond good memories not only of this game, but of indeed, the golden age of video gaming.
*And it finally did. Download the game on the Wii Virtual console right now! =)
PS: I will not debate this any further. This game was never released as an official PAL cart and this is the fact. The first time the game came to Europe was in 2009 , the DS version. Not even the Playstation version was released over here. This are the facts, they are not debatable and I will not tolerate further discussion of this in here, misinformation serves no one.

The legend will never die
While he was more well known for Dragonball, Chrono Trigger holds much more to me as its one of the finest works of art I've ever played. Thank you, Akira Toriyama.
20 years later, this is still one of the finest games ever made.

Fun fact:
the pendulum at the very beginning is actually a Mode 7 effect.
The pendulum itself stays completely still, and then the entire screen is rotated back and forth in order to create the illusion that the pendulum is moving.

I've always wondered about it!
Since it doesn't seem to distort as much as it should, it always threw me off and I never truly knew why.
i thoght it was scaling like the neo geo did...
That would actually explain alot, since the pixel quality remains pretty solid as it rotates.

When “TRIGGER” slithers in, I always get chills. Every single time.
There's something about these SFX that just make it more impactful, like how when Crono and Marle do their double tech on the bridge fight and it hits right as the music reaches a crescendo, one of those moments you'll never forget.
The only problem with that is the crescendo happens after the attack lands and the game loads the non battle screen into the next scene with them on the dactyls. The song is suppose to end right when the epoch loops the map, and then it fades out with screen wipe. The audio is off (about a second or 2) along with a few others I've seen on RUclips leading me to believe these are recorded from an emulator (poorly at that) instead of the actual game system or Wii Virtual Console. These Demo Screens serve as a good mark for when a game is being recorded badly on a computer that's using an emulator vs the actual cart on an SNES/S. Famicom because certain scenes stick too long on screen instead of immediately moving to the next screen, in time to the music, in some cases it's a PAL and NTSC issue (25/50 fps vs 30/60) in others the game simple never exist in a region like C. T. was, in which case options were limited to how money you're willing to pay.
Kinda like that dong in the xmen theam song it just hits on that right note. Masterpieces
@@glenngunnerzero I see where you getting at I believe that if you record from original hardware and display it on modern hardware that there would be a lag kinda like playing an old SNES on a HD tv there is some lag because those systems are ment for CRT and not HDMI. I personally grew up using the coaxial cables. In the 80s and 90s
Played it 6 years ago for the first time. This isn't nostalgia! This is truly best of JRPG.
I also played it just few years prior and now it's my favourite
I still remember the way I felt when I first saw this screen 20 years ago. I knew it would be something special and to this day, it surely is. Happy 20th birthday, CT, and many more to come.

Despite having anime cutscenes in the DS version, I find this intro superior because it seems to drive home the game's marriage of Fantasy and Science Fiction, with the music really making it feel as if the game is an urgent race against time. It does an AMAZING job hyping you up for the massive adventure ahead.

I still cant believe that next year will mark Chrono Triggers 20th anniversary! It feels like yesterday that my dad bought this at release for the SNES. I was only 5 years old at the time, Im now 24. I have played this game so many times and you know what? I never got bored of it.
Chrono Trigger is one of those definitive games you will never see again for a very long time. The story, the gameplay, the music, the sidequests, the characters.. everything is so perfectly blended into one brilliant game. Almost 20 years later, people are still playing this. This game truly has stood the test of time.
I should do some sort of musical tribute to that... hope I find the time to do it (no pun intended).
The fact that this game was made in 95' is astonishing!
what begins as the rescue of a young girl, it escalates to a battle for the fate of the planet.
Chrono Trigger is a game so special and nostalgical for me. The time travels, the different ambients in diverse eras, the soundtrack and the great battle system. Chrono Trigger deserves a remake too Square.
Pure magic. Deserves the word "timeless" like no other game ever could.
My #1 favorite game of all time. I will always have love for Chrono Trigger.

Whenever I play Chrono Trigger, it feels like the perfect game ever.
As a kid, going from super mario world and cheap looney tunes titles straight to this was downright mindblowing especially soundwise and what got me into video game music.
Also listen to the premonition with headphones on. Trust me.
This game was my childhood. It was and will forever be my favorite game of all time.

I'm currently replaying the ds version on my phone, after finishing it i'm going yo play chrono cross which i never played in my life, the adventure it's just started 😊
This intro still gives me goosebumps even in my late 30s. It's just absolutely perfect.

Best game of all time
Well it's July 2022 and Live A live just came out and I believe the stage is now set for a chrono trigger 2d 3d remake from the Live A Live team. I glady paid 200+ bucks for this game on ebay, but the whole world needs an opportunity to play this amazing game.

They should make playing this game mandatory in high school, like part of school curriculum. So many lessons to be learned.
Today marks the very first time I've decided to play this game.
2:30 hours in, and my god...only two other games have given me these crazy goosebumps from start to finish: Metal Gear Solid, and Super Metroid.
I can safely say that I still have ways to go but this will be up there in my favorites of all time.
This OST made me tear up a little, just watching it. I knew I was in for something special.

First time I saw that clock pendulum swing down and the music started, I was intrigued immediately. This game knows how to introduce itself.

Yeah this had actual game footage what's got you more pumped because it showed you things that were going to happen where is beautiful is the animation is it's not the same thing
I will always remeber this game with so much joy, when a child this made me trip so hard in every play session, the OST made it even better.
This was one of my first RPGs to play. I was just 3 or so, so I didn't get to fully enjoy it or understand what was going on when playing on the SNES. But when it came out on DS, I bought it and played through, and did several New Game+ runs getting all the weapons and armour and even beating the Dream Devourer. The game is a masterpiece, from it's world-building to it's soundtrack. It was also a pleasant surprise to find out the artwork was made by the same man who created one of my favorite animes. RIP Akira Toriyama, thanks for making such an awesome game that has truly withstood the test of time.

I played this soon after Ocarina of Time in my early teens, and time travel as a game concept, executed this well, blew my mind.

A couple of years ago, the president of square enix was interviewed and one of the questions was whether Chrono Trigger would ever get a sequel. He joked and said that if people wanted a sequel they should buy more copies of the DS remake. But in all seriousness he mentioned that the only way they could do justice to the original is if they had the OG team of designers and engineers (dubbed the "Dream Team") That's now impossible - many left the gaming industry decades ago, some passed away and others moved on to greener pastures in the gaming industry. A sequel by any other team could never do justice to this masterpiece and I'm happy there will never be one. Instead, we get to enjoy this is a timeless classic :)

this was one of my favorite games ever: (CHRONO TRIGGER) i played this game for hours and hours this game in my eyes is never ending i beat it 100+ times and i wanted this game to go for ever....I've seen (Chrono Cross) never played it i thank it was the sequel to Chrono Trigger if you like older games play Chrono Trigger i give it a 10 out of 10
