    One of the things I love about these types of homes is how cozy and comfortable the spaces are - not super huge and open space (which can be nice too but I prefer this). I had an aunt/uncle who had a house like this and I miss it so much.

    Welcome to the area and congrats on the purchase. My wife and I were just at a Chicago Bauhaus & Beyond event a couple weekends ago celbrating the life of Don Wrobleski, the architect, who passed away in February. There was a lot of talk about the house and the new owners ;) Funny to watch this video and put all the pieces together! If you would ever be open to it, the CBB members would love to see the house. And if you are interested, CBB, which went a little dormant, and hopefully firing back up again and it's great for anyone interested in MCM.

    I’m OBSESSED with MCM. You guys did the same thing with buying the house sight unseen. I told my broker to put a contract on it three hours after it hit the market. The listing agent was just as shocked! AND, I got the house! Absolutely LOVE it. I can only level up from here. Built in 1963 with most features original, so no rehab. Congratulations. Yeah, let’s see the landscaping in the near future.

    So sorry to hear about Carlton. I remember the video you made for his birthday a couple of years ago. As a professional photographer and ‘Frenchie dad’ I felt somehow connected.
    My little queen also passed the rainbow bridge. There’s a new queen of the house, but she will always be there. Somehow, in my heart and in my head.
    Some day the great memories you have will overpower the pain of your loss.
    Have a great time up there Carlton ❤🌈

      thanks for your kind words. sorry about your girl as well. we added a new little guy, too, because our other dog had never spent a day alone in his life and he has really bad anxiety. i was so nervous that it would feel like replacing carl, but on day one it was completely clear that that’s not possible. i know what you mean when you say that she’ll always be there. carl has just as big of a presence in our house as ever. we started seeing butterflies at the house for the first time on the first day without him, and they always come at the most serendipitous times. love him forever.

    You know, I watch these videos, dreaming of living in a MCM home somewhere, knowing damn well I won't. The videos depict a perfect, spotless, very not lived-in representation or renovation. Don't get me wrong, they're all very, very well done and beautiful. Your house is the first one where I actually thought, "Wow, that's a really nice renovation. But it's not a museum piece. Folks actually live there. I could do that. It's beautiful, well done, nicely renovated and livable.Yeah, that's the word -- liveable. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Stunning home! Your updates and downdates have woven the ultimate creative nest. The palette, the light, the space beyond the walls are a true reflection of your personalities,… private and bold within a whispered satirical awareness that is well enough versed on the necessary tangents of your work/art. It was good to see the little ghost. Peace. This old poet is moss green with envy. Congratulations you guys!

      i really believe that each person only sees what they want to in another person, and i think it’s really cool that you look for the good in people, wayne. way to go.

    • @WayneThePoet
      @WayneThePoet 10 месяцев назад

      @@MangoStreet interesting thought, and probably accurate for the most part. Because the contact most commenters have with “public” figures is based on what we’re allowed to know. So seeing the “good in people,” whether personality or work, is easy and understandable, of course, because you obviously put the best image out there, which is a great strategy. 🙂 I mean, you might secretly enjoy seal pup fur coats, but what we, or at least I, understand, are two people that remind me of my old artist friends, and that is a cool thing. Why we’re compelled to interact with certain strangers still puzzles me though, (especially as a strong introvert) but I guess it’s the same reason for going to a book store, a concert or a museum. It’s nice to interact with people and environments that reflect the world in the same way, as artists. And…I’m not always as positive, I’ve addressed stuffed shirts too. Ha! Much success!

    I can remember growing up in Florida in the 1960's. We had a bookshelf system that used brass rods that poked somehow into the wooden wall brackets. Other than that, similar to what you have, rathe adjustable.
