That's what I thought. They're not the type of cabinets you would find in a 1960s-70s home. They're definitely modern, and they make the kitchen more cozy especially with some warm amber lamps. 👌
The cabinet on legs at the end of the kitchen cabinets fits in so perfectly and "rounds off" the kitchen, creating a visual barrier that really improves the look. I think it was an inspired choice.
I agree 100%! At least they’re not old-fashioned oak, cathedral-style cabinet doors. As a former landlord, I would advise against doing anything - especially not peel and stick wallpaper because it will ruin the finish.

Agree, great "bones" to start (window materials and size). Although maybe a little too difficult - would have been cool to do "molding" on the **ceiling, and then just detailed/older looking strip/border in the crevice between ceiling and wall. Lay out/spacing of the different areas - lovely. Agree, too, that it's a little harsh/awkward to be hit with a cabinet or interruption upon entering space. That problem was taken care of here. Thank you for sharing. Much happiness in your space.
Yes, but Lauren, if they really bother you, you might consider placing a removable adhesive-backed thin mirrored panel to the inset areas to detract from the wood you don't care for and also to continue your reflective theme. (?) Beyond that idea, what about covering the mirrored cabinet areas with your choice of etched glass-looking contact paper?? Kind of gives the feeling of looking out a "real" window. Just a thought or two. Blessings!
For the wardrobe you can buy iron-on hemming tape to make it look neater. There's also velcro tape to hang it up more neatly. That's the easiest no-sew way I'm aware of.
Hi! Lovely home!! Regarding your pretty fabric panels for your wardrobe... Might you consider curtain rods small curtain rods installed at the tops and bottoms of each glass panel (inside) where your fabric could be more sturdier placed and easily shirred to your liking?

If you use iron on tape making a 1.5 inch hem I the top and bottom of the closet fabric. Then put 1 screw in each cogeneration do the door next to the glass 2 inches outside the glass. Lauren is a lovely lady that really knows how to decorate. Her apartment does NOT look like it is only 220 sq. ft.! It definitely looks a lot bigger, as she knew exactly how to place everything in order to expand her space. She has impeccable taste and that is because she lives in the fashion world! She has an eye for where she would place her furniture and accessories. I personally do not see anything wrong with her kitchen cabinets but if they are not her taste, she could perhaps get permission to cover them with peel and stick paper. There are so many varieties and colors out there that she could choose from. There may be other solutions, but I don't know what else she could do. If she decides to cover them I am sure they will turn out beautifully as she is so detail oriented.
So creative, so beautiful, I just loved this. Lauren has great taste and a beautiful spirit, I love how happy she is to be living there. Those kitchen cabinets are actually quite classic and lovely, the brass handles Lauren chose are perfect. My very favorite thing in this apartment is that gorgeous wallpaper. We just downsized to a small house so I found this video very inspiring. This tour was delightful in every way, thank you Apartment Therapy and Lauren! ❤
So darling. Traditional vibe! Those cabinets? I'd suggest either fabric inserts, temporary contact type, or fancy paper ( art stores), even woven placemats cut to fit, and use double stick low- tack tape. With patterns just center them. And to finnish off your wardrobe fabric? If you're not a sewer get iron on hemming tape. Press a 1/4 inch fold to each wrong side, then another half with the tape inside. It's hemmed! And to attach on top and bottom you can order a wider, more sticky double tape through Amazon, etc.
This? This I love...! Thoughtful, reasonable, beautiful. Scale of everything is on point. The changing vignettes of each little area just _works_ . Burnt orange cinnamon to match the window frames was fantastic. Her dress sense, & her home create a combination where I (a very grumpy person) would trust her judgement.

how would you better use the space the bed is in - she has a desk, storage, a sofa - really all she’s missing is a table but if she doesn’t cook she won’t be needing a dining room table - even if she did cook - the dining room table wouldn’t be going where the bed is - so without be a jerk about it - how would you better use the space the bed is in 🇨🇦🙏
Hi, I'm a former retired fashion illustrator in NYC and also studied interior design and I have to say you have excellent taste! I had a studio apt many moons ago and now live in a 19th century carriage house cottage in New England! Studio apts are indeed cozy! Enjoy~~♥♥
Your apartment is so cute. If you want to change up your cabinets, take foam board and cut it to fit the middle of your cabinets. You can cover the foam board with fabric, wallpaper, caning, etc. I just really think your apartment is lovely and dreamy.💕💕
LOVE studio tours especially featuring grown ass women living in them! New Yorkers know there is no shame living in a studio. Sure we might prefer more space, but if a studio allows you to live in the place that makes your heart feel alive, you can make it work beautifully.
A very tasteful and stylish place. What would work well in your wardrobe would be expanding curtain wire, the sort that is plastic coated with a hook and eye to secure it in place. It’s designed for light weight fabric and all you’d have to do would be to sew a channel top and bottom and thread the wire through - and Bob’s Your Uncle.
Wowzer! I agree re cabinets though they do reflect a tone of the beautiful windows but Lauren's wallpaper install and use of that color with the ridged cabinet that sits in front of the base cabinet tones alot of that intense orange/bown wood out of the equation. Overall a real retreat has been created here. Grade: A+!
Although I have a house, I still have small spaces. Love your idea of making the entrance design separate. The entry from my garage is small like this. Great idea. Thanks 👍🏻
This is probably my favorite tiny apartment that I have ever seen!!! The style, the layout, and the view are all spot-on, so gorgeous. In the kitchen may I suggest leaving the bottom cabinet colour, as they do speak to the gorgeous wood window, "wrap" just the frames in white peel and stick paper, but get some cabinet doors made in your style and paint them white.
You could get over the door hooks to hang paintings/artwork on the cabinets. They sell small felt self stick pads you can put on the back corners of the frames to prevent scratches on the cabinet faces. I think this would really dress up those cabinet doors.😊
That is a beautifully decorated space! You also have a very nice kitchen for a studio. I do love how it is separated from the rest of the space. As to the cabinets... you might do as I did in my rental: get some Contact paper or even more easily removable stick on fabric/vinyl and put that on the field of the cabinets. I personally LOVE the Shaker style and mid-brown tone (it actually picks up the brown from the window at other end). So leaving the raised panels original and just covering the field with whatever design fabric/vinyl stick on you can find might make if more your own style.
She did a great job decorating with limited space. She made the small space look larger and interesting.

A person could live in this space quite happily and for a very long time. This is what a studio apt is supposed to be: liveable.

Your apartment is so cute. If you want to change up your cabinets, take foam board and cut it to fit the middle of your cabinets. You can cover the foam board with fabric, wallpaper, caning, etc. I just really think your apartment is lovely and dreamy.💕💕
Your home is lovely and comfortable and I always feel that your home should be "you."
very Carrie Bradshaw with the shoes in the kitchen cabinets!!
Incredible what you have done with such a small space. Your bedroom is your living room
Such a cozy, pretty design. It’s practical with clean lines. Luv it.❤
Loved everything about her decorating, and her personality :)
LOVE studio tours especially featuring grown ass women living in them! New Yorkers know there is no shame living in a studio. Sure we might prefer more space, but if a studio allows you to live in the place that makes your heart feel alive, you can make it work beautifully.
Extremely talented young lady, very pleasant liveable space.
Totally beautiful and adorable
Loved your studio
So much
Congrats

Wowzer! I agree re cabinets though they do reflect a tone of the beautiful windows but Lauren's wallpaper install and use of that color with the ridged cabinet that sits in front of the base cabinet tones alot of that intense orange/bown wood out of the equation. Overall a real retreat has been created here. Grade: A+!
What an amazing vision she has for her living space. Very impressive.
Although I have a house, I still have small spaces. Love your idea of making the entrance design separate. The entry from my garage is small like this. Great idea. Thanks 👍🏻
Cozy and well integrated space. A beautiful home and the soroundings look nice as well
This is probably my favorite tiny apartment that I have ever seen!!!
I like the kitchen cabinets as is, maybe ask the landlord if you can add a tile backsplash.
You could get over the door hooks to hang paintings/artwork on the cabinets. They sell small felt self stick pads you can put on the back corners of the frames to prevent scratches on the cabinet faces. I think this would really dress up those cabinet doors.😊
I put peel n Stick grass cloth on the inset area of my kitchen cabinets and it helped tone them down sooo much!
I like the idea of replacing the pull bead of the blinds. I have some beautiful amber beads that will work. Thanks for your clever design ideas!
You can staple the pretty fabric in your tall wardrobe ❤🙋🏻♀️peal in stick Judy the front doors of the cabinets comes off so easy
