Such a calming and soothing video. The camera shots are just superb and the music is always so appropriate. I really look forward to your videos each week.
HAPPY COFFEE TIME. WATCHIN FROM MY ROADTRIP STOP IN ARKANSAS. TIME TO LEAVE IN A FEW MINUTES , STILL 1300 MILES BACK TO IDAHO. HAVE A WONDERFUL PORTUGAL SATURDAY FRIENDS. GOD BLESS..... 👍👍😄
Hello beautiful people. You are so blessed to have such special friends Nick and Ange. Your place is looking so good. Love watching your videos and your fur babies are so gorgeous. Sending loads of love from Cape Town ❤
Olives have a two year cycle, so you have usually every second year a bigger harvest... Also the cutting of the tree is very important... If you cut too much, you get too many non producing shoots, if you cut too little, you have dried up branches.... I am sure you will find the balance over the years.
Now that you are trimming your trees, make olive leaf tea. It's pretty tasty and very healthy. The progress on your land is inspiring. And it is always nice to see the cats and chickens an dogos (who are always in the vids).
I love and admire what ya'll are doing!! I'm in the USA, Arkansas actually. I wish I could have done what ya'll are doing!! It must be so rewarding. Looks like a very simple peaceful life, which is good nowadays. I love the relationship ya'll have, working together. The land you live on is beautiful, your house is cute. Here's hoping everything goes well for the two of you.
Great open to Frankie Off Grid with Frankie's sweet, calm, morning face greeting her viewers. Diogo's sleeping face was cute, too. Albi, as dazzling and radiant as you are, the solar panels can only be charged by the sun 😊😸. Butt that was very thoughtful of you to try to help 😻. 🙆🏻♀️ Thank you for the Iwan up in the tree making it rain olives shot! 😊 And the lovely country road trip to the lagar. Very nice parting shot driving away and also driving home with the setting sun and rising. moon. That was a lot of work you all put into harvesting your olives and pruning your trees! Looking forward to next week's vlog. Twas a surprise to see you rocking your urban threads. Thanks for the vlog! Have a great week 🤗.
Beautiful! And a little painful. Watching you make and eat that bread and soup before I had my own breakfast was both superb and torture! It looked *SO* good. What a particularly idyllic episode this was
I wondered how long this tree would last. You are going to miss it so much in the summer. It always made you look relaxed when sitting under it. I don’t put much on here or Nicks page but never miss a posting. Tell Nick he can come and stay with us and we do not need any jobs done…lol. From Downunder in NSW. Australia. Maryann
They actually produce more after a prune. They work on an almost 5 year cycle of productivity with the 3/4/5th years being the most productive before dropping off. Two years ago we harvested 450kgs from 60 trees, this year we have 250kg from 100 trees. We should be expecting an average of 30kg per tree.
Do you know that you can sprout chicken grains like barley alfalfa, sunflower seeds, wheat, corn and millet which is extra nutrients and you'll need less. You can google sprouting grains for chickens. You cab also make sprouting boxes using pallet wood to make a box about 15cm high with chicken wire across the top after placing a soil layer then sprinkle seeds on top and water. Once the sprouts poke out of the wire the chickens will be picking their treats.
There’s a lot of RUclips’s with people living in Portugal but yours is by far the best. I just love you two. You’re great. Just my kinda people. I live in north wales (Nebo) and have a 10 acre homestead but I’m mortgaged up to my eyeballs and can’t really see a way out. I’m strongly contemplating moving to Portugal. You’re really selling it to me x
It's so lovely where yous are. You have lots of trees 🌳 and no doubt wildlife. I live in Ribblesdale. Half in Lancashire and half in Yorkshire. We have a lot of trees also 🌳🌲.
Hello, I’m sure you know how delicious quinces can be in apple crumble, tarte tatin , compote, marmelada, and quince jelly or in savory dishes like tajine, but of course if there are too many , it’s great that the pigs can eat them and they don’t go to waste, also a bowl of quinces in the kitchen smells wonderful, carry on with your beautiful videos and really enjoy your lovely menagerie 🐕 🐈 and garden, all the best Liz
Gorgeous cinematography, perfect music! True artistry!! Many favorite shots, but especially black cat, green eyes in grey/green olive tree. Also chickens (which on many channels bore me to tears). So very well done. You also make the long drudgery of olive-picking interesting by keeping count for us. You must be very happy to have that over with!
Put that soup through a mesh. It’s a bunch of extra labor, but then, a little lemon juice, and salt. Costs like next-to-nothing, for over the top results. Just try it once.
I have used normal salt and boiling water in the past, to help rid myself of weeds amongst the cobbles. Didn't kill them permanently but made them much less frequent with a much lesser root base.
Heaven forbid I deny pigs food, but I’m shocked you are not using your wonderful quinces for your own food! I so look forward to my quinces ripening, alas I have to wait another good six months for my fruit here in Australia. Quince Jam, stewed quinces, quince tarts and more… Can’t wait!
In Portugal, we call quinces, marmelos. We use the pulp to make the marmalade and the seeds and skins to make jelly. It's long lasting and it's delicious. You should try some! Best regards! xx
Last year I made quince and apple cider for the first time. Very successful and VERY popular with my neighbours. And yes... a long wait for Aussie quinces.
Hi Carissa! I watch every video and love them. it is so peaceful and quiet. I have to ask. Do you make anything with quince? You can find a lot of simple and delicious ideas in Serbian cuisine. Greetings to both from Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska
I,ve never known a thing about agriculture.Your videos show me a lifestyle to envy however I find a great amount of enjoyment watching you both and your feathered and furry friends.
Wonderful video once again. I hope your harvest is at the upper end of your estimate. When Carissa was counting the olive trees and sped up the audio around 70 she began to sound like the chickens.
Hello there. That's were small stones come in to own for leveling up. Look at the shape of them and try to cross the joints. Keeping the wall level will make it a lot stronger. These wall you are building are with cement. When i built them, they were dry meaning on cement.
That white rooster is magnificent. I suppose you've already named him but, on the off chance that you haven't, may I suggest "Galahad" who was the purest knight of the round table...
That was well put together and most enjoyed, thank you. But what I really wanted to say was how appreciated your music is, calm and serene, whereas some vlogs set their 'music' at such a level that you can't hear a word, and it's unpleasant. Keep it up !!
Finished olive picking at last! You must have felt it was never going to end.🌳🌿 It's a busy time of year for sure, and having so many trees! I guess you'll have a bumper crop next year after the pruning you did this year. 😊👍💖💖
I'd love to play with a chainsaw. Other than making sure I wouldn't cut my own foot off, I would love to attack the many invasive elm trees that keep springing up on my property! (Usually as close to my foundation as possible! Bloody nuisances!) You're doing well with your harvesting. Just keep plugging away at it. Congratulations! You've finished! Well done!
Oh we cried a lot when we found out. They’re so similar. Such a sweet dog. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them this week with Diogo to play with Ellah 😢 still can’t believe it little Biscuits 💔
It was hard to watch, I cried, couldn't hold it in. Diogo looks like his brother, they are so alike. So happy you guys are friends, I love following all of your journeys. ❤
I'm 72 and I still cut my fire wood but with a axe not a block splitter like you use .I failed to mention that in the fire's ( my last email) that many animals have also lost their lives ( native animals)it is a once in a lifetime fire . Noreen Australia 🦘
With your drone footage it shows just how effective the chickens are at stripping vegetation bare. I hadn't noticed before, but you could use them to clear future vegetable gardens.❤👍
@17:17 - So happy you wouldn't consider using Roundup! (horrible, carcinogenic, toxic stuff). In addition to your solution of using fire there are other, quicker, organic ways to control those invasive roots. Salt comes to mind, as well as vinegar, there are even vinegar based commercial organic products available, but it's easy (and cheaper) to make your own.
What a pleasure to watch again, as always some great B-Roll footage! You did get a decent amount of olives from the trees, lot of work though :)) Have a good one!!! Cheers Bert
Great video Look up vinegar to kill mimosa trees Your filming is getting amazing love love love it I bet you were glad when you finished picking olives 😄 Thank you for sharing 😁
Hi you guys. Nick is the all around guy isn't he. Love how you all help each other. Happy last tree harvest. Gina in Upstate NY USA moving to Portugal or Italy. Don't know now. I will be in your neck of the woods in mid Jan....Happy New year
This video was the depiction of a calm, fullfilling life. Wonderful and blissful. I was trying to see what went into your soup. The only thing i couldn't work out was the spice in the jar. Want to help me out and just tell me as is looked yummcious. Sometimes i sweet potatoes wedges (skins left on) springle with cajun seasoning. Then just before serving i generously sprinkle grated cheese on top. Do you or Ange not make quince jam? I know the pigs would live their treat but shame if they got to eat all of them. I bet you jever tire of the sunsets, i know i wouldn't. Xx
@FrankieOffGrid Thank you. I saw curry powder and cumin. It was the tumeric i couldn't work out. They are all spices i have in. I think that sweet potatoes need a spice addition to go with it. Balances the taste out. May have a shot at making it tomorrow. X
Hello, I enjoy your videos very much, I was wondering if or when you will begin to work on the stone building next to the kitchen, a doorway between the two would be convenient and add extra living and work space.
Relaxing video to watch! Nick sure helps everyone out, what a knowledgeable man!
He’s a gem 💎
Your videos are my favourite part of Saturdays! 🥰
Those two are totally different yet both so adorable you two are totally compatible
It’s a joy watching your relationship with one another and your deep friendship with Nick and Andrea. It’s rare and wonderful.
Such a calming and soothing video. The camera shots are just superb and the music is always so appropriate. I really look forward to your videos each week.
When that white tent goes up, it means Uncle Nick's at work! Lovely collaborations, wonderful animals, great harvests, good food ... all is calm!🙏🏼

It’s lovely watching your videos and listening to the soothing background music
Great update FOG. Wonder how much the Olive Oil production has increased in the last 5 yrs, due to abandoned farms being re- worked ?. ❤🐕🐕🐈🐈🐔🐔🐔🐔🐁👍🇯🇲
Great point!

I love watching your calm but active vlogs. 😊
I wonder if you both realise how simple and peaceful your life is now?? It was definitely the feeling I got from watching this video!! Cheers!!
Diogo is a natural born star. He loves to make appearances. Not insignificant appearance’s! Now that’s star material. For sure.
Red kumara we grow in ,New Zealand.we make chips .we have orange kumara as well .most people prefer red.regards mike
It’s like a puzzle, but using random pieces from other puzzles lol. You guys are legend❤ special shout out to Nick for all he does to help❤❤
Nice bit of olive harvest supervision with a cup of tea there Iwan. :)
It was too small for me to climb into 😅
I love all your animals they are so calm looking & I think they also enjoy their life! Great job finishing those trees. Central Victoria Australia 🇦🇺

Your beautiful dogs are very happy campers
You guys have such a great community - it is truly awesome to see you all helping each other out!
Hi, Carissa and Iwan. I especially love the pics of Frankie and Diogo. See you next week❤️❤️
Quinces makes the most amazing jelly (as in apple jelly) and baked in the oven and then served with custard, hmmm so delicious! Most delicious fruit.
hi ! If you reduce the crown of olive trees by half or a third, you can only expect them to produce half or a third as well. 🤔

What a lovely little slice of life! Thank you once again.
I enjoy your family and journey so much. The clouds and the music are superb as well. ❤❤❤❤❤

Your camera work is really good.
Thank you!
A joy to watch , so therapeutic for me . I really think there should be a Saint Nick of Castello though

Well said!
Put that soup through a mesh. It’s a bunch of extra labor, but then, a little lemon juice, and salt. Costs like next-to-nothing, for over the top results. Just try it once.
Enjoyed watching you prune and pick the olive trees
Salt used to clear the roads in winter ( so not normal salt ) kills all weeds and produces no problems with your annimals 😊
I have used normal salt and boiling water in the past, to help rid myself of weeds amongst the cobbles. Didn't kill them permanently but made them much less frequent with a much lesser root base.
It would be nice to see some small creeper type plants in amongst the new rock wall around the well. It will help soften the edges.
Weekends are my best, hope you never stop filming your wonderful life:)
We do make use of them.. but we currently don’t have the storage for a huge harvest.
Mmm membrillo to go with cheese

Last year I made quince and apple cider for the first time. Very successful and VERY popular with my neighbours. And yes... a long wait for Aussie quinces.
Those sweet potatoes are much biger than the ones I harvested 🍠🍠🍠 It's such a nice and relaxing video 👍
I always feel so calm after watching your videos. Thanks for that bit of respite in my day🥰
So glad! Thank you!
I love sweet potato as well, however, I never peel mine. Most of the nutrition is in the skin so all you have to do is give the potato a good scrub!
Hi Carissa! I watch every video and love them. it is so peaceful and quiet. I have to ask. Do you make anything with quince? You can find a lot of simple and delicious ideas in Serbian cuisine. Greetings to both from Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska

What an absolutely beautiful looking day!
Love your video’s 🙂 your night drive home the clouds look like feather ‘s🪶 in the sky from🇨🇦
That was well put together and most enjoyed, thank you. But what I really wanted to say was how appreciated your music is, calm and serene, whereas some vlogs set their 'music' at such a level that you can't hear a word, and it's unpleasant. Keep it up !!
Hi! A suggestion. When you have cleared the area close to your neighbours, install a sunpowered grassmower to partol it!
Thank you for another lovely video. ❤
Can I ask what kind of drone do you have?
Thank you! It’s a Hover X1, we’ll release a video about it mid week I think.
Cant help but notice there no mimosa growing into the chicken run. Consider letting the chickens do the work. They will sort it and enjoy the bugs
So easy to watch your video's!
Your videos are a joy to watch. So calming and the music is lovely. It reflects your life right now so well. Love the animals so much
Wow, look at those patterns in the trunk.❤

Bom dia,sou do oueste também vivo como tu, rodeada de natureza e animais 😊❤
Soothing video to watch with the music x
Love your videos as usual. No wonder Joel the chicken is escaping, it's being attacked by the rooster - on camera! 23:40 Poor thing!
Those are such lucky dogs
Every time I see Diogo I can't help get a lump in my throat thinking of Biscuits from The Sunny Saudade Project. Heartbroken.😢
Oh we cried a lot when we found out. They’re so similar. Such a sweet dog. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them this week with Diogo to play with Ellah 😢 still can’t believe it little Biscuits 💔

Love your very peaceful life. Your flowers are always beautiful. You guys do a great job each day.
Ağacın kesilmesine üzüldüm ❤
Marvellous job with all of the olives… cheers from Oz🐨🐨
Enjoy the fruits of your labor❤
not sure if you have the budget for electric fencing, but you can then use the chickens to clear the area.

I feel relaxed now😊try and get a piece of marble for working your bread doe
Já comprei sementes de cosmos para semear. Não sabia de as flores ficam tanto tempo lindas 😊
New sub. Love watching what you are doing!

Hello, I enjoy your videos very much, I was wondering if or when you will begin to work on the stone building next to the kitchen, a doorway between the two would be convenient and add extra living and work space.
