    1:21 I agree! Maybe so.. here’s a strategy you guys might like. 1. Reach at an opponent back hand with a twist of the waist and have your back hand palm reach a smack towards your opponent (standing southpaw) is be using my back left hand. (He’s standing right up front too let’s say) now.. as I reach at his face he has to cover so he raises his right arm. 2. LOP SAO (right hand grabbing hand) 3. SAME TIME left hand now free BUI GEE left hand. Here’s one more. 1. I reach over front hand (right hand southpaw position) he covers right hand high guard ok. 2. STEP RIGHT and spear the left eye with a left hand BUI GEE and HOOK or UPPERCUT ⚠️immediately!! ㊙️🤛💥

    I think it's important to keep in mind that photography is rarely objective. Photography masks itself in objectivity, which gives it the illusion of truth, but in reality, it's always constructed and made subjectively.

    Yo KFG and the crew! I have a Bruce Lee/You/Martial Arts question: There's the Bruce Lee quote “Before I learned the art, a punch was just a punch, and a kick, just a kick. After I learned the art, a punch was no longer a punch, a kick, no longer a kick. Now that I understand the art, a punch is just a punch and a kick is just a kick.” This seems to be a common cycle for martial artists, especially in TCMA with all the mystique and fanfare, when they see beyond the fancy names and philosophies and get a more grounded perspective of the art. Do you recall your moment of clarity, when a punch was just a punch again?
    You guys are always a great listen, and I look forward to the next episode!

    1:20 Truthfully.. when it comes to JKD. He created a way to SUPER POWER your WING CHUN. Nothing more. He simply showed us that having several structures to draw from can out game an opponent. There are JKD people saying “Bruce gave up Wing Chun right here on RUclips. It’s cray... lol (crazy) You guys... JKD is a method of timing and a philosophy of motion... it simply carries on where WING CHUN left off. He was developing a way to exponentially increase his productivity in the mat and in the real street beef. He was a warrior. A realistic man with realistic goals who achieved them and people are still jealous to this day. I get guys all the time saying “That won’t work” n I tell them. Show me your JKD! I don’t wanna hear about what doesn’t work? So do people do tutorials on how to not do stuff? Hi Siifu,
    I just watched the David Carradine podcast program you performed . I am late in discovering your podcast, I am a former student of Big Sean. I intermittently listened to the "Dudes of Kung Fu (unfortunately).
    I think I discovered the source of the "pieces of garden hose" used by Carradine in the old infomercial that you discussed in that episode . I found a website that sells "Physiostix" that are based upon the Fibonacci method (???). The Phisiostix were invented by Rob Moises one of David's KF instructors. Rob Moises is a student of Kam Yuen . Kam is a Northern Shaolin/Mantis master from Hong Kong. It appears to have been invented for horseback riders to loosen up the riders prior to a ride.
    I think cutting a piece of garden hose would be much easier and less costly than Physiostix , which you said. I believe I understand why David was drafted to try to help to unload the Physiostix. Please keep the podcasts coming!
    Thank you.
    Jack

    Brandon Bruce Lee would have been a more rounded actor than his father. For instance, Obi-Wan Kenobi in the 2nd reprisal the Star Wars franchise would probably be portrayed Brandon & not Eagan McGregor. Instead The Matrix maybe John Wick . Instead of Matt Damien I definitely believe Brandon Lee would be an excellent Jason Bourne 👍!! Then he could do roles that has nothing to do with action . Brandon came from an acting family, his grandfather was an actor. If given the chance, & not being viewed as Bruce Lee's son ( because it's about how the audience will proceed you) Brandon would be a great actor 👍

    • @jdjjdjd2667
      @jdjjdjd2667 2 года назад

      You know, I think I underestimated Bruce's acting ability with my comments about of his son being a more rounded actor. Bruce started acting long before he even had choice to be an actor much less a martial artist. As a 👶 Bruce made his 1st appearance in a film 🎥 his father held him up by the armpits. Bruce was child actor in the 50's & did minor fight scenes that didn't require any scientific choreography. In saying, Bruce was an actor looonnnngg before he became a martial artist. With that acting background, he didn't need to go to acting school like many martial arts action stars did after his time. That's 1 of the reasons he remains a draw to the world's imagination to this day. BOTH Father & Son were on their way to be legendary actors

  • @creightonfreeman8059

    From what I've heard from old timers who were at Ed Parker's Long beach Karate Championships, Bruce Lee's philosophies, at least on traditional martial arts, were kind of the opposite of great self promotion. Most of the karate guys were pissed off at this "cocky" young Chinese guy coming in telling them they were doing it all wrong. It made him more unpopular than popular. They tolerated it because those who challenged his ideas learned he could back up his cockiness with technique, but as far as promotion it was more a case of "it doesn't matter what they say about you as long as they spell your name right." He got people's attention, but not always in a positive way. I think even Dan Inosanto said that he didn't like Bruce at first, because of his cocky attitude.

    Another fine show. I love these stories about Si Gung Tam Hun Fan, I will have to ask Sifu for more juicy details. I understand that he was already proficient in another style of Kung Fu before coming to Wing Tsun, but I still take motivation from him coming to it later in life. Great advice on that front again in this episode too. Perhaps for those medical questions you could get the renowned Dr. Eison to come on to the show? Slightly random question - do you know of anywhere to find Wing Chun terminology with Yale style notation? There's a little on Wikipedia but mostly there's no notation in other sources and my native speaking Si Hings have no idea about the notation. I don’t doubt for a second that Bruce’s next Hollywood film following ETD would have been great. Maybe he could have worked with Charles Bronson or Steve McQueen even - but I’m afraid I don’t believe his body could have possibly been able to put out another physical performance like ETD. He was getting almost into his mid 30s. Maybe he could have eeked out one more..but..only maybe..And I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he takes a little time off to quit the coke, rest, avoid the heat strokes and bulk up a little first.

      Some more coincidental relation between these locations, besides being walking distance from each other: Gene Lebell was friends with George Reeves and gave him judo lessons at that house. Lebell was also friends with Bruce Lee. Sharon Tate and Jay Sebring were friends of Bruce Lee. Years ago I tried to pitch an idea for a show called "What If ..." and the pilot was: what if Bruce Lee had been invited to the get together at Sharon Tate's house that night. This was decades before Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".

    Whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA Sifu ALEX!! TRUE Linda Lee did released the notes 📝 & photos of Bruce's Fighting Method & The Tao of Jeet Kune Do, however, it's to pay depths Bruce was in at the time of his death. I had those 📓 📚 , they were VERY useful 👌 educational & knowledgeable for Me!! They are THEE MOST Complete martial arts Publications in the world 🌎 & none of his followers EVER came close to exactly duplicating his contributions to martial arts combat. They WERE NOT just scattered notes just put together to sell 📚 !! There's a saying in cases similar to Bruce Lee's. You're more valuable Dead than Alive!! Actually Sifu ,Bruce did do try to bring the philosophical side of his martial philosophies. Remember the phrase? "U put 💧 into a teacup it becomes the teacup, put 💧into a jar ( paraphrasing) it comes the jar ,💧 can crash or it can flow, by 💧my friend!" In the TV 📺 show Long street he said that very line. When Enter the Dragon 🐉 returned to the movies 🎥 in the late 70's. Promotion companies kept the philosophical side of his message OUT of the movie 🎥. In recent yrs those philosophies was restored back into film. The more power & freedom Bruce achieved the more he expressed it his thoughts

    • @TheKungFuGenius

    • @jdjjdjd2667
      @jdjjdjd2667 2 года назад

      No, it actually his view to adapt to the world you're a part of. While in Rome, do what the Romans do ( the irony of those words, 🤔Chuck Norris vs Bruce Lee in the Colosseum in Rome filming The Way Of The Dragon 🐉) those words are part of his philosophy of being versatile & resourceful. Bruce had a LOT of quotes that's not universally known as the 💧quotes & being a student majoring in philosophy from The University of Washington it's not so surprising.

    Sifu Alex, Bruce was a BIG SELF PERMOTER & not just for himself, but, for Chinese & all minorities in general. Europeans wreather they're Americans or not treated minorities so racially Bruce Lee had to self promote for 3 reasons. 1. To show Chinese Are Strong yet tolerant 2. Seriously not so comical 3. Conservative & observative . It's plainfully obvious Bruce Lee sold himself because of the environment he lived in & to combat stereotypical views some would have on his Chinese
    heritage & community. When he was bare chested in most his films 🎥 , showing the importance of physical training , selling the character he played thus selling the stories he's in.
