  • The B-Stance set-up is a great way to train, predominately, one leg but to ensure balance and, therefore, correct technique.
I prefer b-stance over single-leg training for most exercises because it allows you to keep your body weight more over your working leg. Whereas single-leg training requires a large hip shift and hike to move your body weight over the stance leg. Which can be tough on hip mobility. And for anyone that pretty strong, lifting heavy into a hip that’s shifted feels pretty horrible after a while.
But the problem with any b-stance exercise is focusing on loading the front leg more than the back leg.
The temptation is to take too long a stride to help with balance, but it’s easier to shift the weight back in doing so.
There is also a temptation to go too heavy with the b stance RDL because you can use the back leg. It's easy to cheat progression on this lift.
And, of course, they can end up looking more squatty. So make sure your knee cap does NOT travel forward.
If you have yet to try the Wall Press RDL, it's an excellent version of the b-stance. I remember seeing @tonygentilcore post it years ago, and it’s been a firm favourite of mine ever since.
Give it a try and see how you get on.
