CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Max (Mel Gibson) violently crashes his V8 Interceptor with Wez (Vernon Wells) in hot pursuit.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director George Miller's follow-up to his own 1979 hit Mad Max is proof that not all sequels are inferior to their originals. If anything, this brutal sci-fi action film is even more intense and exciting than its predecessor, although the state of its post-apocalyptic world has only become worse. Several years after the deaths of his wife and child, Max (Mel Gibson) has become an alienated nomad, wandering an Australian outback that has fallen into tribal warfare conducted from scattered armed camps. After a road battle with psychotic villain Wez (Vernon Wells), Max meets up with the odd Gyro Captain (Bruce Spence), who takes him to the camp of a sympathetic group led by Pappagallo (Mike Preston). As Pappagallo's people are camped at a refinery, Max plans to take their oil -- more precious than gold in this world -- but eventually joins them to fight a band of marauders led by the evil Humungus (Kjell Nilsson). The stunning climax features a heart-pounding chase scene involving an oil tanker-truck and a frenzied rush for the coast, with Humungus and his forces in hot pursuit. Nilsson is a scary villain, with huge muscles and a sinister pre-Jason hockey mask, but the stunt work is the key here, and it is more flamboyantly dynamic than ever, edited at breakneck pace and staged with manic fury by Miller and stunt coordinator Max Aspin. Savage and kinetic, Mad Max 2 is a must-see for action buffs.

In the movie, the actual Black Interceptor was never destroyed. The car you see in the wreck here is actually a stunt replica car that was made specifically for this stunt. After the movie the actual Pursuit Special Black Interceptor was sold to a junkyard, thankfully the owner of the junkyard knew the car was very important and didn't scrap it. The car was restored and put into a museum, and is still on display there to this day.
THIS WAS A FAIRMONT NOT EVEN A FALCON XB
Saddest scene of the movie. Max's interceptor got destoryed and the dog got killed. So sad.
but its more about the car xD
The Landau rolling is also difficult to watch now, having owned an XA and XC hard top many years ago.

Same! Can’t wait to see the new ones. Keeping it alive & well!
As great as this scene is the OG 1979 Mad Max and Fury Road villain ending scenes are better.... Crazy, crazy good franchise work. There is not another George Miller.
Before The Fast and The Furious series. The Road Warrior: Mad Max 2 was the first movie that show nitrous oxide in the vehicles. Ahead of its time.
***** Definitely. So happy that George Miller brought the real cars and stunts back in Fury Road. No CGI with the exception of the sandstorm. Everything else was 100% practical.
+Emmanuel Williams An enormous amount of Fury Road was cgi tbh
The Fast and The Furious is crud compared to Mad Max.
+Matthew Brand Not for the stunts though.
+Brian Merritt true, The stunts were almost all real
As the old saying goes, "He whom kills mans best friend, will then be destroyed by mans best machine." Karma can sting can't it.
That actually happened.
Wheres that saying from
I love how the only car that could keep up had to use nitro to beat the interceptor 😎
Cheap shot.
That interceptor is something special 😎😎
@@top10king17 was
And it’s got 6 wheels 🤦♂️
The interceptor was also using nitro.
That is why you NEVER kill the dog!
I've seen worse - The Fly II and I Am Legend.
Daniel Williamson Oh my god, fly II! I hate you for reminding me of that, I had suppressed those memories. Saw that when I was a kid. That was sadder than anything else I had seen at the time!
Hey!!! That was the only thing about The Fly II I didn't like. Yes! It was really horrible about what happened the dog.
Bartok deserved what happened to him. And the bandit whom killed Max's dog also deserved what happened to him.
well at least with the fly 2 the is some karma, the main bad guy end sup suffering like the dog in the pit .
Doggo died as he lived - backing up his poppa.
I hate losing the Interceptor but I do like the symbolism. The Interceptor was like the spirit of vengeance given to Max to avenge his murdered family. But after that it went purposeless and at this point its like Max, hollowed out, scarred, and just coasting from one place to another.
Max had to lose the car because he had a higher calling to help those settlers survive in that hellscape, and the only way it would happen is to take away the dulled out sword that was the Interceptor to make him do it.
Max no longer needed a weapon for vengeance, he needed to redeem his humanity by becoming a shield for the weak.
I agree completely…….but the Interceptor tho…..
I think adding a dog to this movie made it seem more realistic because you would lose your mind being alone in a world like this. This movie and the first one are excellent because if society broke down this is probably pretty close to what it would look like. IMO
...O
That's why in Fury Road Max has hallucinations, the only thing he cares about is his car ( more than his own blood)
One thing I always thought was interesting about this scene was that for most of the movie Wez spoke and acted insane, but here he spoke and acted calmly and almost normal. It always made me wonder if his psychotic behavior was all just an act.
Ask the script
Being a (semi)competent leader and being a frothing berserker are not mutually exclusive.
"Get you a man who can do both" -the Lord Humungus, probably
i still think he's psychotic as he only gets mad when he doesn't catch his prey.he's calm in this scene because he's satisfied for destroying max's car and presumably killing him
I really do feel sorry for that dog, he was only shielding his master. In films, you should NEVER kill a man's dog, because you will be hunted & killed by that same man.
Douglas Snyder John Wick comes to mind.
Rprince418 I have heard of that, even though I haven't seen the movie yet.
+Douglas Snyder
Shooter.
"They killed my dog."
It wasn´t that he was framed for shooting a politician, it was because they killed his dog.
Just like the movie another day to kill or john wick when they killed his dog and stealth his car and his decide kill the person who was resposable
Sorry, but I haven't seen the movie Shooter. And does that star Mark Wahlberg?
Had this of been the MM1 Interceptor the marauders would have never caught up with it. The only reason the nitro allowed them to outperform the V8 was because the Interceptor was extremely worn down due to the elements, lack of maintenance and the use of low quality fuel. This problem is further shown in Fury Road when the rebuilt Interceptor is in an even worse state of disrepair and immediately run down by the War Boys.
Not Nitro but Nitrous Oxide. Nitro is the shortened term for Nitromethane.
@@OneEye. Thank you for explaining, vehicles using Nitrous Oxide is not common here in Northern Ireland.
Holy wtf it's not just the comment that got stolen, it's the entire thread. It's repeated verbatim by different "users" a little ways up the page. I'm not gonna point fingers but alla you gremlins be out of pocket with this 💩
May I also add , the Interceptor was overloaded with fuel.
R.I.P Dog and the Interceptor 😥
i loved my dog he was amazing he passed oct 17 2013 rest in peace rockstar
valkor73 I lost mine August 31st 1989 rest in peace woolly dog he was a long hair blue merle Aussie he was a Shepherd not a cattle dog like the dog in the movie got them for five bucks in the flea market around 1980
Sorry for the bad pronunciation this this voice app sucks
That officially marked the end of my childhood
Willie dogs death not the voice app issues
i always hated this part I wish the interceptor never crashed
crashandcynder Me too. The manner it crashed was lame as well. The mighty interceptor is defeated because someone smacked the windshield? Fucking stupid.
crashandcynder Me too. I think the idea of having The Interceptor being destroyed was a really bad one. Max without The Interceptor(aka, Pursuit Special) is like a shark out of the ocean.
Wolfrage76 I agree. But dramatically, it also works for the same reason. You expect that both Max and the Interceptor are going to make it through the events. By destroying the Interceptor, it makes the audience think, "Crap! If they did that to the car, there's a good chance Max may not make it through this." It takes the suspense up a notch. Plus, it's heartbreaking as well. But at least she went out with a bang, in service to keeping Max alive.
*****
Cry some more you nerd.
The Great Agitator lol @ your Google page, god damn what a shitty life. The virgin Third Reich. Blocked.
That first shot of the Interceptor with the sunrise...stunning. The jump to mid day...not so stunning.
Man i cried when this godlike Interceptor crashed :(
wakesake I think they rebuilt it in Fury Road, amirite?
daweller its a shitty copy , this was the original beast
+wakesake Plus that's different MM universe. This is the one where it really affects you emotionally.
Yea they don't make em like that no more plus with the deep message behind it. To me there is only three max's this new version they just took and bunched the other versions together. Remember on part 3 the vehicles were about gone then on this remake they call 4 the vehicles all of a sudden came back. They just try to remake all these classics. If there's no Mel there's no max
BRENDAJASON1 agree but, for me only the first 2
The ol’ exhaust pipe across the window trick.
lmao, this comment should have more likes.
So much to endure in this scene, painful, a triple death: the dog, the car, Max's pride/confidence
"I am the one who runs from both the living and the dead; hunted by scavengers, haunted by those I could not protect. So I exist in this wasteland, a man reduced to a single instinct: Survive."
Lets face it, fury road was a commercialized and soft remake of mad max 1 and 2

The saddest moment in movie history
The soundtrack for this movie is otherworldly...
0:07 that noise, man, it’s music to my damn ears, that is the most iconic superchargers ever
Don't get the 4K blu ray. WB in their infinite wisdom changed the sound effects so that iconic sound is gone unfortunately.
Being a local I just love knowing exactly where most these locations are. Sadly I could never find any parts of the interceptor. Anything that came off this car would of been flooded and washed away decades ago.
My uncle found small part in 1984, he has it somewhere
That dog was awesome! God Damn it!
Killing the dog really upset me when I was a kid watching this movie.
Absolutely the most saddest moment in film history. Nothing brought tears to my optical gonads like this scene. So sad she had to die. And no im not talking about the dog.
agreed.
poor car..agree
how did he get it back in fury road?
Blaze X Good question. Maybe at the end of thunder dome he found an Interceptor in the pilots cave home. Or maybe hes so badass he made one from scrap.Who knows? I guess its left up to our imagination.
+Fred “Bananatreelobster” Potter they planned out 3 movies already from wich 2 prequels of fury road. Mad max: The Wasteland is up next with a younger version of imortan joe. So maybe they will show us how he got it back who knows
Wez's truck is an F-100 chassis with an extra rearend.
Freaking heartbreaking scene. Truly a tearjerker. Worse than old yeller
i remember the first time watching this and was totally crushed what happened to the car... the blower was just so awesome... can never get tired of watching and seeing this movie... so awesome..... talk about early 80s memories....
Dogs come and go but interceptors are forever.

According to IMDb the blue heeler dog was obtained from a nearby pound and was adopted by a crew member after filming.
[Dogmeat has died]
[OK]
Max is a man of focus...
Awesome Movie ! Never gets old. The idea for The Road Warrior Film was inspired by the classic John Wayne Western, Stagecoach! It's typically a so-called modern day western.
Poor Max, was just trying to escape to the Plains of silence
For all that we hype up Max's Interceptor, he's spend most of the series parted from it. Even in Fury Road he loses it in the opening scene! 😭
Broke my heart that one of the best (and most powerful) automobiles in the post apocalyptic world was now forever gone.
Rip interceptor, the best movie car ay ever see 👍👍👍💙
Wez was a great villian. Vernon Wells played him very well
Great scene. Love the dark, foreboding music of Brian May. Also the way the marauder who kills Dog gets catapulted through the air by the force of the explosion.
The same Brian May of Queen?
As a car enthusiast this is a heartbreaking scene to watch. Great movie though
Lets be honest, the movies were never the same after this point.
classico maximo, sempre m pego vendo esse filme fantastico , george miller é genial...
This part made me cry, when I was a kid
Wez was like a surving crazed biker of the Toecutters gang and its like he got revenge on Max for the Toecutters death. But in the series they were completely separate villains that hadn't heard of each other.
2:24. That folks, is what is called a perfect "OH SHIT" moment.
Oh the humanity. That amazing car
😦
Mano, triste essa cena, Max perde o carro é o animal dele, o único amigo que ele tinha.
I have heard it' said that Max was never going to make it as the Interceptor was carrying too much weight in fuel
best movie ever 🏜
noooo! the dog?! im crying
seeing wez giving that look at the total destruction of the v8 you could run but cannot hide
Always bugged me that night tuned into day in a split second.
I always interpreted that he was driving for a bit before they decided to use the nitrous.
One of the coolest cars ever filmed!R.I.P. interceptor!
No, not RIP. The interceptor is in a museum in, I think, Australia. The car that burned was a junk heap substitute.
R.I.P Mad Max Interceptor 1980 - 1981

Вышка почти у них в руках была. Зря Вез не дал Максу уехать
How could he get beaten by a fucking exhaust pipe?
Just dont let John Wick finds out about this!!!
interceptor brings best chase scenes bring it back to the big screen
Max didn't count on a nitrous equipped vehicle. I guess I wouldn't have either in that world but hey that's the way it goes when you're being chased by psychopaths in the future. Poor poochie.
Yeah, fully fueled and carrying extra tanks, Max’s strategy was to simply outrun them with the supercharged Interceptor.
The only time I've cried in a movie is when the interceptor blew up
The dog's death still makes me cry
@@cps1247 me too.
@Liberty Antisheep when the dog died it added to the tears, I felt so horrible for max
Luckily, no REAL dogs were harmed in the making of this movie. :) But the concept of it is still pretty sad :(
I hear the dog that played Dog died of an infected tick bite, which would be an absolutely ridiculous and anticlimactic way to go.
Justyn Dugan I think I read somewhere that the dog found a home with the director of this movie after shooting was over he was a shelter dog
He was a bit of a nervous Nelly though and kept relieving himself in the car during shooting
No big deal no upholstery no problem just hose it out
One of the most berserk old school chases I've ever seen. The bad guys did a cheap shot using nitros to overcome Max's supercharged car and destroy his vehicle. But killing that dog as well...that are going to PAY.
Fury Road..Is awesome...But nothing in Fury Road compares to the music and atmosphere in this scene. And R.i.p. Interceptor
EDITING IS EVERYTHING
There was no editing in this film... All crashes and explosions were real stunts. That is what made the movie famous, it's risky stunts.
I liked the toadie, probably got bullied alot by the other gang members x
Thirty plus years later, Mad Max still reigns supreme over Fast and Furious. The practical effects and stunts in Fury Road will always, and I mean always, beat the cheesy CGI in the Fast and Furious movies. The FF movies make a good Universal theme park ride. But Mad Max makes the better film.
Yeah; no matter how many steroids or cheesy rap songs you pump into a film, you just can't beat the grit that comes with Mad Max...
George Miller is the difference
Fury Road is full of CGI, too. 😂
@@LeviBoldock Yes but the vast majority of the stunts done in that film were real and practical and done in front of a camera. Hell even the more recent Star Wars movies are embracing practical effects now. They're making a comeback and that's a good thing.
who ever was cool enough to put these newer clips on youtube you should also add the best parts from part #1 and #2.....that would be super sweet......im a big fan too......
When I first saw that crash as a kid in the movie.. it bummed me out hard because they crashed his car.. best dam car I had ever seen back then... I understand that it wasn't a dodge challenger but it inspired me to get one in black.. retro old school look..
Apparently a woman approach George Miller and told him she was disgusted that this movie show a dog getting killed, and he couldn’t convince her that it wasn’t shown at all. Mandela effect
Could max have escaped and if so what then.
Was this to show max was making a wrong choice? and could no longer survive just by himself aimless drifting the wasteland.
"humongous gang said he rules the wasteland nothing escapes. just to scare or did he have more control than was shown.
just intrested lol great film. rip interceptor an dog :(
Mad became Max became mad
The tanks are full all mighty one, and it's all yours 😂😂
Mad max trilogy and franchise is kinda sigma!
We don't have to worry about Max,he can survive anything but the interceptor and the dog. How could anyone rebuild that Holden after the explosion.
Back when Max was still vulnerable and a human being
Did you see the opening to Fury Road?
What do u mean i dont get either of u
@@The12thDimension. I'm sorry, the way he was escaping from the war boys and one of them falling off the cliff got a chuckle out of me.
The opening to Fury road sees Max being in flipped over in his Interceptor, be captured, forcefully tattooed, be captured again and then turned into a blood bag.
He was very vulnerable
the falcon/ interceptor gets its revenge. mutually assured destruction
