- The city of Mesa said they are owed millions of dollars for unpaid electricity bills and they are about to start disconnecting services.
I have overheard groups of people hanging out at the bar I work at talking about not paying their bill, but they have money to blow on booze, pot & tatoos!
Priorities my friend.
Having an addiction isnt easy, but i understand your point.
Ridiculous to not pay their bills. You get electricity first, then pay later. You know you owe, pay what you agreed to pay. I worked 2 jobs for 20 years to pay my bills. Heat or no heat turn the power off if they refuse to pay for the electricity they've already enjoyed getting.
They should never be allowed to do this in extreme heat or extreme cold, no matter. They don't give you any grace. Power has gone up a lot. It's out of control.
They are not allowed to do this in extreme weather. That's why they will start disconnecting services AGAIN, because they couldn't do it all summer.
If you watched the article, the "grace" runs from June, July, August, September, and ends in October. That's a lot of grace.
If people weren't being ripped off by the power company, then maybe people could pay their bill, first they want to raise prices than cut people off when they can't afford it, the greed is out of control on everything from utilities, rent, food, no wonder people can't keep up.
The prices are so high you cant pay. My bill was $400. My rent is 1100. My ss is 1400. You do the math.
I could never imagine making payments on electricity I already used months ago. That must really suck. I've paid utility bills for over 30 years and never had that issue once.
It isn’t bad enough for the hikes in energy costs but heat we can’t control is stretching out causing more high bills

I keep my thermostat at 78. SRP recommends that temperature. I’m a snowbird and came back at the beginning of October during the extended heat. I haven’t recieved a bill yet. But I don’t have a TV, computer, or any other items plugged in. However, I have the ceiling fans on all day. I barley use the lights too. As soon as it’s dark, I’m in bed. 🥸
