- The recent Sundance screening of Dan Reed’s inflammatory film, Leaving Neverland, has, without a doubt, rocked the Michael Jackson community. Despite being based on the easily discredited stories of Wade Robson and Jimmy Safechuck, and lacking any sort of real investigation, balanced interviews, or responsible journalism, this film has reignited the media’s firestorm against Jackson’s legacy, even as Michael is not here to defend himself.
In this special roundtable episode, The MJCast brings together a panel of experts and those who have seen the film and are taking action against it. Q and Jamon lead the discussion, and are joined by Taj Jackson (member of 3T and son of Tito Jackson, who is currently raising funds to produce his own docu-series), Charles Thomson (The MJCast’s Legal Correspondent and award-winning investigative journalist who has exposed a range of actual child abusers and cover-ups for The Yellow Advertiser in the UK), Marcos Cabotá (a film director who has seen the film and was one of its earlier critics) and Samar Habib (of the Michael Jackson Academia Project, who has been a leading figure in the online movement against the film).
The panellists discuss Reed’s film, the Sundance Q&A session, and the media reaction, as well as developments coming together to counter the film, such as Taj’s docu-series, which can be supported on GoFundMe. Taj also speaks to his own experiences of actually spending time with Michael at Neverland. The group offers talking points for anyone struggling with how to respond to people who say that Michael Jackson was an abuser, as well as coping strategies and words of encouragement.
Now, more than ever, it is the time to come together as fans, to support each other, and to remind the media and general public of the truth. The MJCast hopes that this episode provides resources, strength, and a sense of community during this challenging moment.

great episode. I became MJ's fan 7 years ago, I was 14. It was a period when i stopped listening to trashy music and starting to explore music from 90' 80' and even before. I knew who Michael was of course, but it was only in that period that I decided to go into his music and I started to fell in love with the Man and the Artist. I knew him before only for his most famous tracks as thriller etc, so it was a kind of shock, knowing about all the stuff that he had to go through. I cried a lot for it, I cannot believe how such beautiful and kind human being can be demonized so badly, maybe because "shooting stars" are so beautiful to see. But I feel also stupid because history taught me that good men are not meant for this world, and in a society where people like Columbus are still celebrated like heroes. Michael Jackson helped me to see things differently, he kinda changed my life and always he will
I'm so glad that Taj is speaking about his good experiences with his uncle. The Jackson family has always believe and support Michael because he would never harm a child. Greed is the only motivation for the lies told on Michael. No one can take away his great legacy.

So important to talk about this in a common sense way with different voices. I so feel for MJ's family. Hearing Taj you can't help feel how close this is, how this could just as easy be your family member and how you would feel. Great job! LJ
And as reasonable and sane fans & admirers of Michael, we've all been through the same phases of half doubts and scepticism. This is absolutely normal. But it all comes down to facts and fact checking: Michael Jackson was never found guilty of any charges.
I became a hardcore fan in 1991, and I was barely 10 . Back then, I had to defend MJs skin color changing and his "bizarre" look to outsiders. That was small potatoes, because the Oprah Winfrey interview put all these rumours to rest. MJ spoke of vitiligo, the relationship to his father, his love life, his artistic experience etc.
In 1993, I still remember Jordan Chandler, his name and knew his entire biography by heart and i found out how all of these allegations were bogus. I've always wondered how the kid can live with himself btw... perhaps another topic of discussion, where is Jordan Chandler?
I remember back in 1995 when MJ married Lisa Marie, gave multiple interviews and was more accessible, I decreased my fandom level and also during the whole Martin Bashir debacle, I paused a little... but I knew that he wasn't a pedophile because still, there were never any physical evidence to prove his guilt. So in 2005, I was 100% behind MJ but didn't engage as much.
Today, I feel more and more compelled to defend MJ, because he isn't alive to defend himself and honestly, I owe it to him and the joy and love he gave us with his music and creativity. I try to defend him as much as I can. Even by debating Dan Reed's comments on RUclips , where he signs as the username "classic" (look it up, he's leaving snail trails everywhere related to this joke of a mockumentary) or by skeptically reading media coverage on the issue and always asking myself: who is benefiting from this defamation and why?
Anyways, this was a great podcast. Michael would have been so proud of you! Good job.

Hi to all Michael fans! I am 57 and have been a dedicated follower of Michael he has and will always be my #1 go to entertainer. I was blessed to have seen him 5 times in concert the last being Bad tour. I to have done hours of reasearch on MJ I whole heartily believe he was INNOCENT...how I cope well lots of prayer which I do about anything I care about, its been a roller coaster being a fan and here we are with this redicoulous film. These two Robson and Upchuck were filmed at one point smirking and laughing about the whole incident. For those of us who have been attacked, abused, or repeatedly propositioned; laughing about the subject matter is not possible unless you are lying or are so sick in the mind, understanding is not possible. The subject of documentaries were touched on this morning on "Sunday Morning." They pointed out that documentaries have become a multi million dollar industry and do not necessarily need to be true, or produced by good directors and producers. Basically anyone idiot who wants to make one can do it in their garage, lie, and utilize poor resources and make a really horrible story with no one monitoring. No policies, rules, or formal experienced people watching over them and utilizing guidelines. This is money for the Network, and all those involved regardless of the damage it does. There is no Steven Spielberg, or Scorsese (just to name two) doing legitimate research and presenting facts. So the weak minded believe everything and question nothing. There can be something done, but not without work. I will try my best to spark interest from good, decent, and courageous people who know this is all lies Thank you for this presentation, good job! Thanks for doing this. I loved MJ as a child, my best friend and I used to listen to Thriller on VINYL over and over. I honestly couldnt believe he was being accused of molesting a child ...I think the media's treatment of him was horrible. I think it's important for everyday people to know the truth not only to clear his name but also to expose the media. If theyll twist his story, they will twist anything.

I was sceptical, I had doubts and I am a victim of sexual abuse. I do not believe Robson and safechuck, you do not ask for billions of dollars from a dead persons estate to make you feel better. If I found out my child was abused that person would be killed, no questions asked, it was the same for me. I just chose to do things legally. I take issue with sueing an estate for money, lying under oath, not just in 2005 but also 2013 and 2014. It is not right! If you are being truthful you only need to tell it once, not for or five different versions of the same lie! This person owned guns, had children we were friends with, also had been abusing his foster daughters, he even had biological kids with them, and his wife new what was happening. I was told that if anyone found out, he would deny it and then shoot my friend. I eventually told someone knowing I was putting my friend in danger, but it only took me once to tell the truth.
Let's say Robson was scared in 2005 to testify against Michael, loved him , cared about him, did not want to see him hurt.

Why have 4 different versions and still not have a story righ? Why would a judge say his accounts of what happend, and cause it has changed so much his account is untrustworthy. No jury will take his lies as creditable, that is what the judge told him, that is why I do not believe him. A trustworthy person, a honest person only has to tell there truth once, that is it.
