Plus, the team reflects on the year that was at the podcast, and what we have coming up in Season 9.

What Charles said about the Estate separating MJ 'the concept' from MJ 'the man' is a deliberate choice, as told to me by one of the key decision-makers in 2012. I could hardly believe what I was hearing at the time, but over the years that has turned out to be the case time and again. When you're paying others to finish his song, including bogus tracks, and producing 'hollow-grams' (hollow in every imaginable way possible), it's hard to imagine what else you can do to get further 'away' from the man. And to Taj and Jamon's points about why the Estate is choosing ventures that don't focus on Michael himself to attract 'new' fans, isn't the most successful legacy project to date, the highest grossing, still 'TII' film? That -- along with the internet crashing ticket sales of the concert itself -- tells you everything you need to know about what fans and non-fans alike want -- they want Michael himself.
