Great video. I love the looks. They should make the pro 4x looks optional on other trims instead of old man chrome. I bet the pro 4x look would sell so many times more. Engine and transmission are great. Fantastic upgrades.

The Titan forums will tell you the OE Grabbers weakness is mud. Great on road behavior for a 33”, since it’s p metric not LT, but at the expense of mud traction.

he stopped way to early, it would have made it, TFL, is very very critical of nissan , they are never of chevy , ford or ram, and they suck up to toyota, like saying nissan needs premium fuel for top power ratings, well gm's 6.2 also needs premium fuel for there power ratings, but never say that , and look at their video of razor rocks, with titan and trail boss and titan made it look easy going over them and trail boss struggled, but put down titan, and praised trail boss,

I was thinking of that exact video. Both trucks got through the obstacle, but the Nissan cruised through it with ease while the Trail Boss was awkward in places. Both nice trucks, but let's give Nissan credit here. The new Titan is seriously underrated, but I worry its sales won't increase because it has the stigma of being an "also-ran" truck when it is actually really competitive now.

A lot of people talk about off roading and their trucks never even see terrain rougher that a parking lot. I’ve been through some stuff others would think twice about in a 2wd xterra. The Titan gives you a locking rear which a lot of trucks don’t come with and has LSD which a lot of trucks don’t come with also. The main thing people need to know about taking the beaten path is to drive smart, think about your approach and good AT or mud terrain tires and clearance are more important than anything else when off road.

I have a 2019 px4 titan. The driveline is great, but like any stock truck, the main limiting factor is clearance. You could put a 8" lift fit on a AWD tesla and get through these trails no problem. When you are in mud and ruts, clearance is king and way more important then locking diffs as both tires are spinning freely though the open diffs.

If I were doing an off-road/overland model, the interior would have neoprene seats; waterproof switches, controls and entertainment system. There'd be easily removed carpet, with rubber pad and/or bedliner coated floorboards with drain plugs. Also, I'd partner with aftermarket suppliers to offer dealer installed suspension lift/upgrades, bull bars, swing bumpers (with spare mounts), upgraded armor, dual battery, on-board air (CTIS?), exterior aux lighting, maybe a smallish built in frig, awning, upgraded tires, etc.
Leave the leather, fancy stitching and fake roll bar for other models.

I've always been a Chevy/GM fan but I bought a Titan this year...and I don't regret it one bit. Titan is assembled here in America and most parts for it are manufactured here too (more than any of the Big 3). Comparatively, it is actually MORE American than those 3. I smoked a Silverado just the other day, 2nd day off the lot lol. Also, I can absolutely get that truck, with those tires through that mud...this demonstration was thrown BC we can't hurt the media vic.

The Trail Boss is no match for the Titan, it's open diff on the front, and yes, auto rear locker but once the rear lost all the traction the the front diff will also if it doesn't have enough traction. The Titan has rear locker and front ABLS which has the advantage over the Trail Boss except it's not lifted.

great video Stephen ,this Titan Pro -4X for 2020 has allot of strengths over previous years and competitors, the powertrain especially, 60:1 crawl ratio is the best over any other full size truck by far, the only thing stopping it and you from going further up the trail was the tires and you said it at 2:53 all terrain tires is the Achilles heel of this truck when it comes to your hydro trail , which in my opinion is one of the best used on youtube reviews and the 2nd one was you do not own the truck and are being responsible for it, I know i did almost 9 yrs in the industry myself , the rest of this truck is kicks ass over the competition, in almost every way and have heard the sound system its sick and rocks out play some of your dads old favourite tunes and he'll tell you Hell yeah brother, Nissan could have gone a step farther and did like Chevy Trail Boss and used lift blocks on the body and gain instant 2" of lift and tires and it will have the same ability off road with the same tires , I'd say buy it and go aftermarket lift that is a quality package that keeps your front end geometry correct and off road tires going up to 35's of your choice and you'd be set for the next 10/12 years, the only truck to outlast it would be a Tundra TRD Pro great video once again Stephen, your thoroughness is your strength 👍

Have a 2017 S RWD, took it's first run through the ice in Texas that hit a few weeks back. Absolutely no traction whatsoever, slid perpendicular in the middle of this back road that sloped on both sides into culverts. Backed up to ditch, put it in 1st gear and through 6inches of ice it got traction and made it up a hill. Full believer in operator but I get he didn't want to break anything and pay for it.

The Titan will make it. You can’t stop in the deep mud you will sink keep forward momentum. I have an 18 pro 4x and have made it through deeper soup. Also it’s all about the experience of the driver and their experience with the truck.

You could have pushed through it. The SKID PLATE you kept calling the bumper was wider than the middle of the track and is ment to skid along when needed. I'm surprised you didn't gun through it like you usually do with the other brands. Turn off traction control and offroad that thing. It's made for it. Keep up the great work you do! I test drove a SV with all the bells and whistles. It was a beast. I really like the steering being a little heavy (like a truck) and it had an over abundance of power. Comfy and good visibility compared to Chevy. Good interior. I'll probably go with a Pro4X trim as I off road often. Discounts and deals should bring these down at least 10k

I feel like he ruined this review on ourpose because if he had it in 4 low the traction control automatically disables so he never had it in 4 low and i start to doubt the rear locker was ever on either

For all those saying that Steve gave up too early, you can hear the first full send where he smashed the bumper, which is not a good thing to do especially in a press car. Therefore, to stop when it’s stuck, Steve made the correct decision to not damage the car further.

The Ford is much better for the money in my opinion. It also seems like nissan stole a few details from Ford and Ram for this truck. Like the 2 tone tailgate similar to the Ram Rebel and Ford Raptor and the offroad screen on the gauge cluster that displays vehicle and steering angles that come on Fords FX4 packages. Also for 2020 we should be expecting MUCH better fuel mileage. Nissan is so far behind in the truck game, its unbelievable. Resale value for the Titan is also the worst out of all 1/2 ton light duty trucks coming in at 6th behind the Tundra, F150, Silverado, Sierra, and Ram.

The XD sits 2” taller, not sure why they didn’t do the same with the normal Titan. I’ve got the 21 xd pro4x and no issue. The skid plate is also the best in the biz.

It's the tires. The titan has ample power and torque, but Nissan knows 90% of people that own the trucks will never take it off-road. Wish they gave the Pro-4X knobbier tires, but I guess they want to make it more road-friendly

You chose to take street tires into 9+” m in deep mud. You got what you asked for. Almost stuck. And then the Titan DID manage a 3-pt despite the way you tried to get it out of the track. Yes, street tires aren’t Moab or foot deep material. How did the Titan do for 5800 lbs and street tires? Damn fine!!

I own a 2019 Titan Pro4x I am getting better mileage numbers than you are claiming, but you have to drive the truck easy to get the better mileage, I also own a 2019 F150 with the 3.5L, this truck gets poor mileage if you are hard on the gas also.

  • @Fix_It_Again_Tony

Tires would definitely help, but I am sure the stock tire choice was made with fuel economy in mind. I know that won't make sense to some people because this is an "offroad" version of the truck, but more aggressive tires and removing the air dam would impact the mileage. Manufacturers have a lot to balance when making these choices.
