r8 4.2 v8 is also a good car, 5.2 v10 is only for flex. But for normal use, the v8 is better, more economical.
Summarizing: 1) hates exhaust sound, 2) hates fact front has no lift, 3) hates r-tronic gearbox. Well, exhaust sound is purely subjective. I have a 2015 which I ordered new to get one of the last gen 1 cars - I personally like the exhaust. It's subdued when your puttering around but put your foot down and it sounds terrific. I've driven Porsche 911 series cars for 28 years and the R8 seems to have less scraping on the nose than the 996, 997, and 991's that I've had. I get into my driveway with no issues in the R8 whereas the P cars occasionally made contact with the ground. Lastly, the r-tronic is generally viewed by all R8 owners as the least desirable gearbox. No doubt it contributed to the low price you paid for your 2009.

I completely disagree with the exhaust comment. Yes, stock is bleh but aftermarket is AMAZING.
Granted, I have the V10 and an aftermarket exhaust, but I still smile every time I cold start the car.

Trying to compare new car prices to a high mileage used car makes no sense. That's what Ravons comment is about.
Depends on what you want to have. When two cars are the same price they are very comparable. New Tahoe value after 3 years = $40k. Strads R8 in 3 years = still ~55-60k. R8 repairs, probably a few K but not 30k like that Tahoe depreciates. Plus is you get a lot more smiles per gallon in the R8

The later R8 has addressed the problems mentioned hence the price. All cars depreciate. The new twin clutch is a dream.
Snow... I would not drive my Audi in the snow or sand. It is not a jeep. The R8 is a zoom zoom car for the tarmac.
Try the 2017 model with the interactive dash board. And that dreadful box on the back not to mention the rally lights on the front

The other bad things about the auto gearbox is the manual shift is the wrong way around! It should be pull back to go up gear and push forward to go down gear.

After market exhaust will solve the problem. Definitely agree on the interior and how it shifts on automatic, I drive mine on Manual for smoother drives and feels just right .

So the three things you h8 about your Audi R8, are:
1) The sound of it's exhaust.
2) The front lift/ride height.
3) And automatic transmission. All things that are easily fixed with an after market exhaust, after market suspension, and buying it in manual. AND THAT'S IT! Seems like the perfect car to me.

It isn't really fair to say that the car is on par with a Tahoe.. or any other cars you highlighted. Keep in mind your car is almost 10 years old... it's also not a v10... it also was silver.... That's why it was 68k. The majority of people wouldn't pay 3/4 of 100k for a car that is almost a decade old. You can do as you please with your money, and that's fine, but for most people buying a car that old for that much money is a very foolish idea. Just saying.

70% Rear Bias on the R8 mated to one of the best chassis designed definately contributes to the GoKart feeling/handling department. I think it was Chris Harris who said that "Lamborghini is now the purveyor of Understeer" which is probably what contributes to the Gallardos heavy sluggish feeling". The Superlegerra was a little bit more Oversteery. Anyways, great video as always Stradman.

*they make an ARMYTRYX exhaust for that thing that will completely change the sound. the biggest change that would be in your favor would be having the V10 instead of the V8. I don't like that the body is made entirely of aluminum and the seams under the hood around the tops of the shock towers will separate on you and when it does the car is totaled as soon as either of those seams separates*

He got the V8 not the V10, basically zero optional extras (the leather interior upgrade makes a world of difference) and the worst gearbox possible on the car. Fair enough for 2018 I guess, but you can get a full-option V10 convertible (2014) with an S-Tronic Dual-Clutch Gearbox for $63K in 2022 and it is an excellent choice. At least, I'm happy with my purchase and do recommend people picking up these cars while they're so cheap. For the price, their value is unbeatable (you can also pickup 2009 Gallardo's for a similar price, but the overall package isn't worth having the Lamborghini badge).

My list: Seat bottoms uncomfortable for long trips. Too quiet (easy fix), v8 could use more torque. It makes me smile every time I drive it though :)

Excellent. I have a Ferrari 360 and am looking to change. V8 or V10 and maybe an AMV8. Love my 360 but want a change. I've heard about frame cracking on early R8's (no idea of years) and A/C compressor failure. I'd hate the A/C (or anything on the car) not to work but in the UK I could manage without it mostly.
Thing is I have had three Ferraris, Mondial QV, F355 and my 360. Mostly these cars have been trouble free if a bit expensive on maintenance. Audi R8 hmmm. Thanks.

Love Audi's, one of the main reasons I enjoy seeing them and the reason why I would like to get one is because they're quiet but very quick.
A R8 is NOT a super car! At most it's a luxury sports car.

*There are other reasons why R8 can be disliked by many. Here are reasons why i personally dislike the R8 V10 Plus:* One word: isolating.
1. The engine sounds SO GOOD BUT ONLY FROM THE OUTSIDE. The cabin noise is still a nice good and progressive pitch, but its for some reason completely neutered (my current cayman gts sounds miles louder and more in my face).
2. The DCT transmission is lightning quick, feels even quicker than Porsche's PDK, BUT it doesnt feel mechanical...its so...subtle, and i barely notice it shifting at all.
3. The ride and suspension. It feels just way too comfortable. Its so damn soft even on sportier modes. It waffs over corners like a luxury saloon (okay obviously not like a luxury saloon, but i am using it as an expression).
*i am not saying this is a slow car, nor am i saying this car doesnt handle "well", but the experience just feels too digital, not analog, and isolating*
Sell the Audi R8 and gallardo and keep the jeep and buy a Hurcan

I would like some help, my younger brother has asked me to help him with a speeding ticket he got. He just turned 17 and got a speeding ticket going 90 in a 65, he got the ticket while only having his permit to drive. He had insurance but failed to provide proof. We live in California, I figured maybe somebody could give me advice on where to start with this mess. What are our options??
