As a fan of the sport who wants to see the best fight the best, I don’t like this. However as a fan of the fighters and who wants what’s best for them including for them to be treated with respect and proper compensation, I love this.

One things for sure is, whether the competition is better or worse, the competition will definitely be there, especially it means that if you fight Francis you get PAID! So that’s already a good thing. Than the PFL gets a good foot on to African soil, it’ll be game over. Fighters will be coming from all over the world to be there.

PPV buy gonna be nothing compared to UFC
The UFC really fumbled the bag on this one. They should just have let him box. Having your HW champ lose a boxing fight is much less damaging than what has just happened with Francis.
I read a long time ago that when Dana was helping to build the UFC, he wanted to address some of the issues that are in boxing with the way the UFC is set up. The UFC for the most part have always had the biggest stars to a western audience and have been able to put on the best fights at least from 155 up. Now, one of the best fighters and one of the biggest stars the UFC has produced has shown that there is more out there for the UFC's biggest stars if the want to go out there and look. Is Connor looking at himself now, asking if he could have gotten partnership somewhere else?
Francis is changing the landscape and it threatens the UFC's ability to continue as an insular promotion. Years from now they may have to co-promote fights to give fans the fights they want to see or we may just have situations like in boxing where fighters can just dance around each other, hiding behind different promotions and belts; never giving the fans the fights that make the most sense.
I'm happy for Francis; the guy deserves everything he can get. What a great story. However, I'm concerned about what this may mean for the future of the sport.

This won’t change anything because the PFL is going to lose a lot of money on this deal and when the other promotions see that no other fighter will get that deal. PFL doesn’t even have a heavyweight division. PFL doesn’t do the business that can afford this deal and Francis isn’t a big ppv draw either so this is a big risk for PFL.
