thats why the Cowboys made double what the highest grossing NBA team did last year right? International recognition has nothing to do with it. Its the number of players - 53 vs 15. Of course you can pay the team with 15 players more than 53.
The NBA is the best sports league in the US. It might not be the most popular sports league, but it's players are more famous and better athletes than any other pro league.
NFL has no true interest outside of the United States. The NBA is pretty much a global interest league MLB has clout in parts of Latin America and parts of Asia.
NBA players are treated better because they are more valuable. If the NBA had a much smaller fanbase they would be treated just as bad, if not worse than NFL players
Jimmy Bonez the NBA generates $7.4 billion per year and has an average of around 15-20 million viewers per nba finals games. The NFL generates $15 billion per year. An NFL REGULAR SEASON game gets between 15-20 million
But that's makes sense though. Leagues aren't games - the NBA isn't a world sport, basketball is. The NFL play American Football, which is not an international game. There's a reason only one of the two are at the Olympics. Basketball is played in most countries in the world, so it makes sense that the NBA tries to reach out to other markets that also play Basketball. Why does the NFL reach out to a country like Australia when no one in the country even knows the rules of the game? Stick to the markets that make sense, you're wasting your time trying to break into countries that have no interest replacing their national football code with America's.
BRBallin1 no, it’s not what you think it is. For most people outside of USA, they don’t view NBA as an actual “sports game”...it’s more like a TV variety show in prime time. The game of basketball is global in the sense that rugby, cricket, golf is. Most people outside of USA views basketball as an “amateur” sports, not a “professional” sports where you would pursue your dreams. If we’re talking about international competition, Soccer, Ice Hockey, and Baseball DWARFS basketball and American football. Actually the reason why soccer, ice hockey, baseball aren’t as popular as basketball or American football in USA is probably because USA in general isn’t as “dominant” as it once used to be. Soccer and Ice Hockey is owned by European teams while Baseball is owned by Caribbean Players.
@@roccoanthony8930 uh... what? Basketball is the third largest sport in the world. It is only eclipsed by Football (soccer) and Cricket. Neither Ice Hockey nor Baseball are even remotely the size of Basketball. Very few countries play either of those games on a large scale outside of the US & Canada. Ice Hockey is played big in Russia, Baseball in Japan, and other then that there are no large leagues anywhere in the world. Ice Hockey doesn't even make the top 25 world sports. American Football is technically a bigger "world sport" than Ice Hockey, because more people play American Football and watch the NFL in the US then people play and watch Ice Hockey in every country and league on the planet combined. Ice Hockey doesn't even rate on the biggest "Winter" sports - Skiing is a much more popular sport in terms of actual participants - by an order of magnitude - and in an Olympic or World Championship year it also eclipses Ice Hockey in viewership. Baseball has a pretty big international viewership, but in terms of countries it's played in, its smaller then Ice Hockey. Baseball's enormous popularity in the US and Japan puts it in the world rankings, even though its only 2 countries with sizeable player bases and viewership (the Dominican Republic and Cuba, by international standards, do not have significant viewership). And I'm not even going to touch on your weird comparison to Rugby, Cricket and Golf. Basketball is neither 'global' in the same way (its in about 50 more countries then Rugby and Cricket), nor amateur like golf is.
Mark Dudley sure bro anyone can play football not everyone can play basketball dummy even tough it’s dangerous it don’t make it harder to play it makes it more risky to play
For the 2019-20 NBA season, the average player salary is roughly $7 million, according to Basketball Reference. The median salary, or middle salary among all NBA players, is $2.96 million. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is the highest-paid NBA player this season, earning $40.2 million.Mar 6, 2020.
The highest paid NBA Players who also happen to be some of the highest paid athletes in the world aren't necessarily just athletes or necessarily the best players in the NBA. Lebron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are celebrities and their personality as well as media and social media engagement is what builds their brand and pads their earnings. Kawhi Leonard is probably the best player in the nba right now and he is a textbook introvert who avoids media obligations via the nba unless he is mandated to do so. He also doesn't have a big shoe deal like the three players mentioned and doesn't seem concerned about acquiring massive fame and wealth like Lebron is addicted to. Kawhi Leonard lead the Toronto Raptors to the franchise and the country of Canada's first ever nba championship in arguably the best one and done season in nba history. Kawhi left the Raptors for his hometown Clippers in free agency despite having endless endorsement offers like a free $5M Toronto Skyline Condo and free food invites from some of Canada's Top Restaurants up the wazhoo. Kawhi chose less money and being close to family in LA over being the biggest sports legend in Canada since Wayne Gretzky.

Oh yeah Kyrie Irivng and Kevin Love were hurt and didn't even play those Finals either. There are no asterisks next to titles - Masai Ujiri knew these Warriors were vulnerable based on the 2018 post season when Houston took them to Game 7 in the WCF only to have CP3 get hurt in the deciding game and see the Rockets lose the series. Masai also saw Marc Gasol lead Memphis to a 2-1 lead over the Warriors pre-KD in the 2015 playoffs before Mike Conley got hurt and they lost the series. Masai knew if you built a team that both played suffocating defense and could match up with the Warriors offensively in stretching the floor and hitting 3s then you could push them to the limit. KD getting hurt was a bonus but people who think Warriors would run over Raptors like Portland if they had KD are high. Mansoor Haque CTE is serious, and when they banned helmet to helmet or upper body shots, a huge side effect was players getting career ending knee injuries. There’s just no safe way to football. Which always makes me curious about rugby. It doesn’t seem like they have a problem with CTE or life changing injuries even though they don’t wear any protective gear except jockstrap.
@@Kashype101 You're wrong because if a person plays two positions it basically doubles their chance for injury and means they'd have to learn both sides of the ball and practice with 1st string defense and 1st string offense (assuming they start) which doubles their chance for injury during practice as well.
NBA players don't have to wear helmets/caps, cleats, and full-body uniforms when they're playing. It makes it much easier to market and distinguish one player from another that way and it's much more relatable to fans because they can see the players face, hairstyle, cool shoes, etc. It's like a fashion trend. NBA players are essentially wearing short sleeves, shorts, and shoes to play. That's much easier for fans to mimic at a local rec centre or outdoor court than football or baseball.

For me, there are a number of reasons the NFL, although it's highly popular in the US, has a lower average salary: 1. Fewer games in a season to broadcast for marketing purposes 2. A MUCH higher number of players per team compared to other pro sports 3. A salary cap (some other sports/leagues do not have this) 4. Apparently more difficult to market internationally (I'd assume most people outside the US would feel that NFL/American football is simply to risky for their children) Alrite, that's all I got. Its easier for NBA players because you can easily identify the players versus NFL.
I don't think that's the sole reason tho.... A lot of NFL players have crap marketing.
@@wrldonwill Of course its not the sole reason, but its hard to market a brand when you can't see the brand well even when playing the game.
@@dkchen Odell, T.O., McNabb, Peyton, Brady, Zeke, Dak, etc.
It can be done. They just have crap marketing.
And the unfortunate part is that many of them don't get famous until they have run-ins with the law.
@@wrldonwill I don't know why you're debating me on this thing. I'm not saying that its not possible, but its a lot easier as a basketball player.
Look at shoe deals. The best NFL players get shoe deals. Mediocre or average basketball players shoe deals are better or comparable to those of the NFL.
Yeah you can blame it to crap marketing, but its just easier for an NBA player to build a brand. I love football, but its just not the same as far as building brands.
@@wrldonwill Not the sole reason but one of the biggest reasons. NBA fans follow the players more than the actual teams. In the NFL fans do not switch teams because a player leaves. The NFL is just way more team orientated.

MJ made the sport international!
NFL IS LACK OF INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION THATS WHY NBA IS GLOBAL
thats why the Cowboys made double what the highest grossing NBA team did last year right? International recognition has nothing to do with it. Its the number of players - 53 vs 15. Of course you can pay the team with 15 players more than 53.

03 AI how do you explain the increase in viewership then?
Everyone: NBA is a worldwide sport, that's why their reach is bigger
Also everyone: why does the NFL try to reach outside the U.S.?
But that's makes sense though. Leagues aren't games - the NBA isn't a world sport, basketball is. The NFL play American Football, which is not an international game. There's a reason only one of the two are at the Olympics. Basketball is played in most countries in the world, so it makes sense that the NBA tries to reach out to other markets that also play Basketball. Why does the NFL reach out to a country like Australia when no one in the country even knows the rules of the game? Stick to the markets that make sense, you're wasting your time trying to break into countries that have no interest replacing their national football code with America's.
The world has rugby...
Nobody wants to watch NFL outside of US like they want to watch NBA.
Basketball is a global sport. The reach is deeper.

curry makin cash
The series likely still would have gone 6 or 7 games and that is before even factoring in Kawhi's next level play through out the 2019 post-season and the fact Raptors still had homecourt especially in a potential Game 7 against the Warriors.

For me, there are a number of reasons the NFL, although it's highly popular in the US, has a lower average salary:
1. Fewer games in a season to broadcast for marketing purposes
2. A MUCH higher number of players per team compared to other pro sports
3. A salary cap (some other sports/leagues do not have this)
4. Harder to market individual players (they wear helmets so their faces are concealed)
5. Apparently more difficult to market internationally (I'd assume most people outside the US would feel that NFL/American football is simply to risky for their children)
Alrite, that's all I got. Your comments are welcome.
it's the name that's the big problem. Outside the US, football means soccer and it's the biggest and most flashiest sport in the world. You can't market another product with the same name that's attached to a much bigger product.
I think it’s because football is basically like a slower version of rugby with pads on and isint played in other countries. Much like how nobody watched rugy or cricket here. @@jcmiisbeast5288 but Baseball is widely popular out side the states. from places like Venezuela(Ronald Acuna Jr.) to Japan( Shohei Ohtani). The top two best players in MLB are not American.

China has large basketball population, thanks for Yao . just one final game , GSW Final game could be up 80 millions people watch game live , which means 1/14 Chinese watch NBA ...and this number is still increasing . Houston Rocket knows more than any Other NBA teams in the league . that’s why every year , these NBA super stars will fly to China to get free money , but NFL only Americans watch it .
NBA has the strongest players union of the major sports. As with most unions throughout history, the players union that can show its teeth and bite can also negotiate for superior pay and working conditions. It's very simple.
Basketball is an international sport.
As a Brit, I can name hundreds if not thousands of NBA and basketball players from today and from history.
I can name maybe 10-15 NFL players and not sure I even know any baseball players.
In 15 to 20 years there will be probably 20 nba players will earning $50 million salaries
King Kemet 25 look at Damien lillards new contract
Dude that’s gonna be in like 5 years 😂
inflation affects everytihing
King Kemet 25 that’s rediculous!
If Rudy Gobert gets a supermax offer, he’d have a $60 Million salary in a few years
Just add 2 Team cities in the NBA Seattle and Pittsburgh.
I think Vegas would get a team before Pittsburgh
LeBron played a great role in guys getting what they deserve even retired veterans; for this reason he's 👑 stop hating on the crown salt dropping
MLS: Crying face *
International competitions ruf idnt it
Lebron james learning about wnba salary:😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Blackpilled Saint literally no one fun fact lasts year championship was supposed to be held at the capitol one arena but drake was playing there so whatever the wnba teams that were playing had to go to some college and the wnba makes no profit and the nba gives them a yearly allowance that keeps them going and right now no wnba teams bring in profit
Blackpilled Saint equality i guess 😂🤷🏼♂️ people would probably get mad if the nba let them die
They get paid more then everyone in this comment section 😂😂😂
@@qmb3115 Not for long
I love football, played it until the end of high school, but it’s so dangerous and equipment is so expensive it’s inevitably going to be outperformed by safer and cheaper alternatives like basketball and soccer and baseball. I was extremely fortunate to never suffer a major injury playing football but even just in middle in high school I had so many teammates suffer horrible injuries.
NHL and NFL are team leagues
MLB and NBA are Players league
MLS or Soccer in general its a Mix
Hey only big 4, what is a MLS? lol...
@@jon-unicorn-doxxer Don't underestimate MLS, they have a good attendance and they have stars like Ibra or Rooney.
MLS is third most attended sports league in the USA after the nfl and mlb. It’s surpassed the nba and nhl.
ZidaneBaggio99 it’s 4 check the league revenues
ZidaneBaggio99 Bro you gotta take the stadium size into account, but I do think MLS is on a rise. The fan base of NHL is getting smaller and older, so does MLB. MLS on the other hand is attracting some fresh blood audiences
MJ and LeBron are the only american athletes as famous as Ronaldo, Messi, Federer
Danyal Kazmi bro how are u forgetting about the best boxer ever ali
Stop lying. Lebron is not famous outside of some cities. Much less followers, and earns less. Mj is not that famous either unless youre talking about Michael jackson.

“They get a salary?”
You guys are getting paid?
CNBC thank you for publishing this incredible video that explains how athletes are getting paid. And explains how enforcements work and how Sponsorships work as well. And also guaranteed contracts and explaining how they work hearing about the business of sports is something that the world is just learning about looking forward to more videos like this.
Either specify the distribution when you present an average amount or use the median value.
Yes, but MLB players get the best contracts, but since NBA players get way more endorsement deals, NBA players get more money
Nba has the highest salary average
@@ftruers2544 Average NBA salary is $8.7 million and MLB is $4.5 million. On average NBA players are the richest in the world.
It's also because there are far fewer players per team. 15 for NBA, 25 for MLB, and 53 for NFL.
Imagine how much cheaper Nike's would be if they didn't shell out billions to athletes!
Won't necessarily make their products cheaper. Just means more profit for the company.
Huntstyle imagine if they didn’t shell out billions how irrelevant the shoes would be it’s pretty much marketing money
Huntstyle that’s a stupid comment. Do you think they would payout more then they take in?? They would go out of business.
You people take RUclips comments way too seriously, lol!
NFL - American Sports
MLB - Dying Sport
NBA - International Sport
Because there are less people on the team compared to other popular sports.

NBA: have more sponsors that pay players huge $ more then their own salary. Like Nike, McDonald, Under Armor, Adidas & so on
