Kevin Garnett’s money in 1998 is valued at over 366 million dollars in 2023 due to inflation. 366 MILLION, for the time that was absolutely insane, you gotta consider all the variables
Yep, garnetts contract is worth about 40.5 milli a year now, accounting for inflation, still very very good, not nowhere close to 57 or how much they make now though
Can't put Wall below Simmons. Wall actually wanted to play and was apparently a great teammate even when he was sitting out in Houston; Simmons doesn't even bother to try to play at an NBA level. That's gonna add toxicity to the lockeroom, especially after all the Nets came out and said they believed in Ben's commitment.
@@DamanLane1017john walls way older and is a 6’2 guard that has lost athleticism, while Ben is in his prime physically and is way taller and only relied on his natural talent as opposed to wall, who we saw progress as a rookie till the multiple time all star
Im sorry but the best contract in nba is jokic 5yrs 272 million, 2 time mvp, soon to be 3 (emiib will not play 65 gms), ring, finals mvp, possibly another ring and finals mvp this year
Kind of a dumb take on Luka. They were in 4th place when they traded for Kyrie. Cuban got fined for tanking to keep their Draft pick that was Top 10 protected. Missing the Playoffs had NOTHING to do with Luka. Before the tank started, Luka was the leading scorer in the NBA & almost single handedly had the Mavs in Playoff position, as he has done every single year a part from his Rookie year.
coming from a wizards fan…. that wall contract was a necessary evil at the time, it was just SEVERELY bad luck that he got hurt basically while putting pen to paper & then immediately after sustaining a freak achilles tear while walkin round his house, two back to back career altering injuries. wall’s contract was the biggest in the league for a reason, he above all is the reason the wizards almost made their first conference finals since the 70s; russ won mvp that year but you could make a big argument that wall was anywhere from #2-4 point guard in the league behind steph that season. now the beal contract…. THAT’S a different story
Having shai and dearon fox's contracts ahead of Luka's is absolute madness, Luka carries that entire team, he's easily a top 3 player, he's the entire franchise, he does way more with way less, he EASILY should be ahead of both of them
Curry's contract is definitely worth it. He's a great player, the most entertaining NBA player, it's a sellout at every Arena that he plays in, and he's top 3 in Jersey sales every year
Your breakdown of Klay's contract is not wrong, but it's also not something that the Warriors organization is particularly regretting. They knew full well he probably wouldn't be back to producing at the level his contract implied, but it was a contract offered by a friendly GM to a team legend. It was definitely a check cut for services rendered and not for future expectations. They might even have started dreaming of the two timelines plan then, thinking that even if Klay fell off as hard as D Rose, that huge contract would handicap the roster to help them tank and build depth through the draft, probably in the 10th-22nd pick range. Whether you love or hate the franchise, I really liked that they showed respect to a guy who had already helped them win 3 championships, instead of being opportunistic and signing him to a cheaper deal when his stock had hit rock bottom. It's part of why the 2022 team was so easy to root for. That's the kind of employer we all want to have.
Agreed. It was definitely a legacy-rewarded contract that they knew they were overpaying for after he tore his acl. However, I don’t think GSW anticipated him to fall off as drastically as he has. I think that is attributed more to the Achilles injury he suffered after he signed the deal, which is just horrible luck
@cahillscourt what actually caused the Achilles injury was preventable. Klay didn't rehab properly for his ACL injury. He didn't listen to the medical and physical therapy instructions. The other leg got weak and that's why he tore his Achilles. And his greedy daddy wants another big contract
Man when gsw extended Steph curry for 45 mill was a crazyyyy steal. Ik he had ankle injuries a lot but man because he sign that and draymond took less was a big reason how Durant was able to be signed... draymond made more than Steph at that time
Jayson Tatum just got resigned on a 5 year $315 Million dollar deal, making it the biggest contract in NBA history. I wonder if that will go well. I know he just won it all, but that much money is crazy.
Great video. I’m not sure why in the last segment you had Steph Curry as number seven and number one it’s kind of confusing. I thought there was opportunity to have someone else.
The Blake Griffin contract wasn’t the worst. It got the Clippers Tobias Harris and that eventually turned into PG13 and Kawahi, and it got the Pistons in the playoffs
This video is about the 26 biggest contracts in NBA history. Brunson's contract is not even close to the 26 biggest ever, so naturally it won't be in the video.

Yeah the contract is still a good contract 25 yrs later. That’s all you need to know about how insane it was then
Fr, no way this guy is comparing a contract from the 90s to one now.
Basketball inflation is not the same as the rest of the economy. NBA contracts go up a higher rate.

This is the first year of that deal, so it didn't qualify for this list. I only looked at contracts that had at least one year completed.
Dude called it lol
Bro is clairvoyant 😮
This vid about bad contracts tho
It's good but he's still missing 1 championship short. Mvps are useless without chips to go with it. Look at Embiid.

From hindsight, Gobert contract is amazing since his defense translated well in playoffs and he was amazing
