Just got one a week ago and love it paired with a TS9 and MXR EQ. Quiet enough for bedroom practice or probably loud enough for use in a band. 20 watts is loud.

I’ve gone through dozens of amps and have to say the DSL is a REALLY great amp and covers a lot of ground tone-wise. I put a 12AY7 in V1 to bring out more of the crunch character and play it through a G12M and Eminence DV-77. Hit it with a Mesa Flux Drive for balls and an OCD for searing leads. Nice playing dude!

TLDR: The DSL20HR at full blast equals the loudness of the top of the line DSL100H played at 4 which is ear shattering and too much for any real world application.
People think amplifier power is linear and proportional and it's not.
A full size 100w amplifier is not double as loud as a 50 watter, it's more like 35% louder.
Given the same amplifier line, using the same speakers cabinet, by doubling the wattage you only get 3dB louder, every 10dB difference is double the loudness.

I picked one up last year for something to play late at night without annoying the neighbors. I was first surprised by how big the dsl20hr sounds for being a 20 watt amp. And I don't mean loud, I mean it has a lot of depth, it SOUNDS big. I've cycled through a lot of smaller tube amps and usually I end up being dissatisfied with them and selling them after a month or two. So far I've been very happy with the dsl20hr and while I would like to try a peavey 6505mh I don't think I'll ever sell it.
I run mine into a 1x12 cab with an eminence governor and I've changed the preamp tubes to tung sol 12ax7's and the power tubes to jj 6ca7's.

Got my DSL20HR in 2019. On the green channel I keep it on the edge of breakup ...and use a Suhr Shiba od or Riot distortion. On the Red channel I use a Maxon OD808 for fat mid od or ...a boss od1 for a brighter flatter chewier response and finally a catalinbread Nagaviper treble booster (dallas rangemaster treble booster) for the Judas Priest screaming leads. Love it ...
