    My experience with the DSL20HR was in my apartment I can not use much volume at all before the whole house is shaking and everyone is complaining. But in our big rehearsal room with our drummer that plays very loud and the rest of the band cranking their 50-100W tube amps, this DSL20HR head is just not loud enough.
    In a bedroom, sure, it will lift the bed from your floor, but at a gig with a loud band, it is not enough.
    The 40W combo however is a HUGE improvement in volume and headroom.
    I do not understand why Marshall does not make a 50W DSL head since I do not like to play combo amps. To crank a 50W tube head would be ideal for small but loud gigs. As it stands It is a pretty big step up from DSL20HR to DSL100HR but what can I do, Marshall is forcing me to buy the DSL100HR which I think is overkill.

    • @TypeoS
      @TypeoS 10 месяцев назад +1

      I totally agree with ya, I wish they would make these mini/compact heads at least in 40watt versions, that would really be the ideal headroom for me, good for home practice and just enough volume to keep up at band practice. Best of both worlds😁

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@TypeoS Yes, 40-50W is where it's at man. For smaller venues you can crank it to the max, at some places you can mick it up to the PA as well. But 40-50W fully cranked is loud for smaller venues. And in rehearsal room it can boogey with my mates 50-100 W easily.
      I mean a 100W marshall head would be like 3-4 DB louder than a 50W, it is some difference but not night and day so 50W head would be perfect.
      You can get max from your tubes by cranking it up and you get them cheaper than 100W so it is win win. My friends with 100W almost never get to use them properly to their full potential, just a waste of money.

    • @Ron4president09
      @Ron4president09 9 месяцев назад

      Bro the difference in volume between the 20 and 40 is marginal. Its a different flavor of distortion and a little more CLEAN headroom….Your crazy!!! Buy the 100, shut up and play!!!! Marshall isnt forcing you to do shit.

    • @schorschharrison
      @schorschharrison  5 месяцев назад

      Well, Marshalls in general aren't the most compressed amps which is a good thing. The downside is you have to work hard to get your pinch harmonics. A boost pedal will definitely help (Tube Screamer etc). I don't think it's because of low output humbuckers. You will learn to love the amp - You both just need some play time together. 🙂

    Hello do you recomand using attenuator on this amp ? cause i hardly ever go above volume 1 and i dont get the same amount of gain with your settings( using les paul with jb-jazz pickups + boss sd1). So my question this amp will sound much better with attenuator and volume at 5-6?

    • @schorschharrison
      @schorschharrison  4 месяца назад

      Actually the gain is produced in the preamp section and has nothing to do with the master volume. To answer your question: No, an attenuator won't increase the gain on your amp. Maybe some hotter pu's will do the trick. 🤘

      actually yes it will. As "schorschharrison" said above most of the gain will come from the preamp, BUT........... for most Marshalls to sound the way you want them to, you need to get the power tubes cooking a little. This amp completely opens up and sounds 100% better when you the get the master past 5. I use a cheap Burgera PS1 attenuator and run the gain around 2 o'clock and the master vol around 2-3 o'clock, amp in 20 watt mode and adjust the volume I need from the PS1, pure Marshall sound.

    Das Intro Lied, ist das ein Witz mit Metallica oder gibt's den Song wirklich, zumindest klingt sehr nach Metallica.
    Fettes Brett und geiler amp, hab ihn mir vor kurzem auch zugelegt mit nem Boss SD1 ein absolut krasses Thrash Metal Monster.

      Der Amp + SD1 sind ne epische Combo! Das Intro ist ein Joke, den song haben Metallica (noch nicht) geschrieben. 😂🙌

      Btw, welche Ibanez benutzt du hier und sind das Quantum Pickups? Wollte mir demnächst ne Ibanez rga42fm holen und bin auf den Sound der Pickups gespannt, da ich bisher DSL20 + Boss SD1 über Seymour Duncan JB gespielt hab,hoffe ich nicht dass ich enttäuscht werde.

      @@timohoffmann1509 Das ist ne RG1070PBZ-CBB mit Di Marzio Pu's. Ich hab aber ne RG421 mit Quantum Pickups und kann dir ruhigen Gewissens sagen, dass die Quantums absolut ebenbürtig zu namenhaften Herstellern sind. ✌️

      @@schorschharrison sound like old metallica😂 i found this amp sound better with the mids and treble at 11:00 with sd1/ts9... with 2x12 70-80. Makes sense?

      @@user-ij8sg2ig1e Definitely inspired by some old school Metallica! I'm also a huge fan of the Seventy80 speakers. They get a bit of hate and are considered to be cheap sounding speakers but I like them!

      @@schorschharrison awsome playing! If you still got this amp i highly recomend on tung sol ax7 in v1. 90% less noise and much more clarity without losing gain 👍

    Killer tones! That "tone shift" is a terrible holdover from the JCM2000's. Useless!
