OMG You're back! Hooray! You inspired me to get into canning many years ago when I watched your videos 😍 Now I'm growing tomatoes and watching for great deals on seasonal crops here in Michigan. Great to see you again! Thank you for your vids, I really appreciate them!
Me too! The first 2 things I ever canned were using her tutorials on canning meatloaf and bacon. That was 12 years ago. I’m so happy she is back in our lives!
Same for me! I watched your videos approx 10 yrs ago or so and you taught me how to pressure can many things I didn't even know could be canned. So glad to see you're back!
Thank you for this video I’ve used my stovetop canners for yrs but I bought myself an electric presto pressure canner and have yet to get the confidence to use it ❤ and blessings
Good to see you sharing your talents again. I love this video! It's so timely with so many useful tips. I just refuse to pay $2 for a can of baked beans. I plan to use your recipe in a InstaPot.
Excellent tutorial on canning baked beans! One of my first pressure canning sessions was baked beans. It was a complete fail--none of the jars sealed and all of them leaked out. I did not presoak the beans! LOL It was definitely a learning experience--I've had very few fails since then. I LOVE YOUR APRON!
Love all the explanations you add! Like why add salt, you can tell after few hours if need more water, etc. Very thorough and helpful. Thank you for sharing
I'm a new viewer on your channel today. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Your finished product looked better than I've seen before, and the recipe sounds really yummy. I will be going back to older videos to view, and thank you for teaching canned baked beans. New to me.😊
Hi Bexar! I have an electric pressure canner, an All American and a 2 Presto. I’ve been wanting this Presto electric for a longtime, but it is outrageous on Amazon. I just ordered it from your link in the description and can’t wait to get it. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen it in a longtime. With just me it comes in handy doing small batches and I think making my soups for the upcoming winter months it will be perfect. I will have to try your recipe for Bush’s Homestyle Baked Beans, they look so good. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed week!
I only buy Bush's Beans! I guess Duke, the dog, must have told you the secret recipe!!!! Lol. Can't wait to try them in my electric canner. Btw I love those chicken overalls. Just Darling!!!!
We love you Bexar... Your the best ever !!! I was surprised about the amount of salt that you used to soak the beans but you have my total faith and confidence.... besides your going to rinse them anyway :)
Great presentation. I have the same electric canner; just used it for canning peaches this week. I will make a batch of beans, just for the experience. Be well and at peace.
Your video has given me more information into the world of pressure canning than the NUMEROUS ones I viewed previously. Thank You! I am completely new to the world of canning. I used my new pressure canner for the first time today. I canned baked beans. Per the Presto booklet it said to can the beans for 40 minutes. Well, I soaked over-night. and then I cooked them for over an hour while I made the sauce. Now I'm concerned that I didn't cook them long enough... They look good. they all sealed. Did I screw this up??
You are back!! You recommend salting the soak water for the navy beans. Do you also salt water for other types? I can seasoned pinto beans...and, of course, they get really soft in the canning process. And I'm glad to see you using an electric canner. I bought one from Blaine's last year at a good sale. I've only used it for water bathing peaches....which were a complete success. I've never had a problem with pressure canning...water bathing was a whole different story lol. Have a great day!
Soaking in salt water only keeps the skins on, it doesn't help with softness. Try canning dry beans in water or broth to help with firmness after pressure canning. Blessings
I was just thinking about how I have to make some homemade baked beans because as we all know, they’re so expensive in the store - at least the good ones are 😃
So very good to see you back. I cannot find the links for buying the Presto Electric Pressure Caner. Or the jar ring tightener. Could you please pin them to the comments or tell me how to find them?
Look like the sure tight tool is currently only available on ebay. The pressure canner is on amazon just look up "Presto 12 at stainless steel electric pressure canner ". Blessings
Im lazy and hate using a ladle so I use a coffee pot ( aluminum or enameled ) to fill jars with.... it makes shorter work of filling jars.... for large operations I have a enamel coffee pot that holds about a gallon or so ( the sugar solution for peaches ) ....
I've been pressure canning for the most part of my adult life and can't see myself getting one of them thar new fangled electric canners. I just don't trust them as much as the old style jiggler weights.
I hear you I felt the same way until I tried it now it's my favorite way to can. I also remember how hard it was to believe pressure canners were safer than water bath canning meat for hours. Blessings
I've been around pressure cookers and pressure canners since I was knee high to a grasshopper, so I've never really been that scared of them. But now that I live off grid, I try to avoid electrical appliances that have heating elements.
I too felt that way but….i like that it sits on a short table and I can easily lift the jars out. The machine guides you through each step. I’m getting rid of the old pressure canner!
Another tip for storage....after cleaning and drying lid seal, give it a light coating of food grade silicone grease. Believe it or not you can get a tube of it at an O'Reilly auto parts store. About $8.

Nice to see you back on! I'll have to try your recipe, for sure. Ironically my favorite Bush's bean flavor is the onion. LOL They're all good though!

So glad I found you! Just got my canner and look forward to making some baked beans. What about split pea soup?
Not one of my favorites but I love me some onion soup. What's your favorite? Blessings
I was just thinking about how I have to make some homemade baked beans because as we all know, they’re so expensive in the store - at least the good ones are 😃
So true and you can't beat knowing what's in you're food. Blessings

Bexar did you forget to debubble or did I miss that step?
Beans were loose not needed. But great catch. Blessings
Do you have a link for the rings tightening gizmo?
I only see them on ebay and they are very pricey right now bummer. Blessings
🌸🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌸
Do you not have to debubble the beans in that type of canner
Yes I should have. I'll talk about that on my video on Thursday. Blessings
Im lazy and hate using a ladle so I use a coffee pot ( aluminum or enameled ) to fill jars with.... it makes shorter work of filling jars.... for large operations I have a enamel coffee pot that holds about a gallon or so ( the sugar solution for peaches ) ....
Great idea keep sharing your knowledge! Blessings
What brand make and or model is your electric canner??
It's the Presto Pressure Canner. Blessings
