Man, Mazda's exterior design team is killing it lately. Their whole current lineup is good looking without a single uggo. Most brands nowadays have either plain looking boring ass lineups or just complete tryhards when it comes to design. I despise crossovers and yet I think this CX5 is a handsome looking thing. GG Mazda, you done good.

I like Mazdas and the 2019 CX5 Signature isn't a bad looking Crossover Sport Utility Vehicle and the chrome accents are good without overkill of tons of it but why only chrome accents on three sides of a vehicle. Only only chrome on the rear is the Mazda emblem, a chrome strip along the bottom of the rear hatch or a chrome strip inlaid in the rear bumper would have been nice.

Great bang for the buck when compared to other SUVs in it's class and even beyond. I love the RDX but not sure if the price difference is worth it now that the CX-5 has a sweet new engine and much improved infotainment. I like how Mazda has stuck to improving the core elements of their cars - drivetrain, handling, ergonomics and has not gotten caught up with fooling buyers with gimmicks. Thanks for another awesome review.

I think Mazda has been producing some of the most physically attractive mainstream vehicles, mainly because they understand restraint. Nothing is off the deep end and there seems to be much more concern with uncluttered form and a clean overall shape. Nothing overtly ornamental aside from the grille chrome bar, but it adds beautiful character and dimension. I love it. The new 3 hatch sends my brain into orbit - so good.

    • @tr0llbuster292
      @tr0llbuster292 5 лет назад +3

Resolution doesn't mean anything when it gets covered in dirt/snow/rain which impairs the visibility of the camera. And what sucks is that you really can't see anything since rear visibility is so small because of the C pillar. I will soon see it for myself at the Autoshow in Chicago next month.
I like what the Golf R's rear camera does. It's in the emblem, but when you reverse, it pops out which makes more sense than relying on the camera than the rear window. I wish more car companies would do that.
You can call Jalopnikbias or may not agree with Jalopnik, but you can't deny, it's small: jalopnik.com/the-2019-mazda-3-hatchs-rear-visibility-is-precisely-as-1830754940

Just got back from the Auto Show and sat in the Mazda 3:
It's nice, not a fan of the dark red leather, but I think the view is do able as it's not the worse thing in the world, but it is small.
I'm also questioning why Mazda isn't going up in tire width as 215/45ZR18 is the maximum size it can go to. On my old Ford Focus, it had 215/55R16 and it taking turns was hell just going on a highway through turns at 60 mph.

Wish you could compare the turbo vs regular to know if that extra is worth it. I think the regular 2.5 is pretty responsive for such a huge car.

My wife loves our 2013 CX-5 sport AWD... I now need to convince her that the signature edition is worth it. She's not a huge car person, but since I drive everywhere, even in "her" car, I get a large say. She picked the make and model, I'll pick the sub model, and it's going to be this Signature one. Great job, guys!

Just picked up a 2020 CX5 GTR. I just installed an intake and will add larger intercooler and thicker piping to reduce turbo lag. Just did a 10 hour road trip in it and i'm obsessed. Maybe when i'm done with my mods you can come test it out to see the proper CX-5 turbo with (fingers crossed gotta find someone to build me a cat back cause nothing on market) 290 hp. Also the off-road mode for 2020 performed flawlessly in some heavy beach sand dunes.

Hey guys, really enjoyed this review! I recently purchased an SUV here in Ontario and I considered the Mazda among my options (coming out of a Mazda 3 2016). May I suggest you review the 2018/2019 Tiguan. I went with the RLine trim with the Drivers Assist and I have to say it really is unlike any previous VW in my opinion(tech and style for price point). I think it would be a valuable review for people to see as VW can get over looked, especially following diesel-gate.
    Just a suggestion. Thanks guys!

2WIREG when i say Apple Maps I actually mean any maps CarPlay supports which obviously includes Google and Waze and when using those maps I want turn directions on the instrument cluster as it is MUCH safer as you only have to move eyes down and up rather than turn your head which takes much longer

Another great review. Thanks guys! One question: why are you comparing the CX-5 ($41k for the one you test drove) to the Acura RDX ($55k as tested)? These seem like they are in a completely different price tier.
The fact that a $41k car can even hold a candle to a $55k Acura seems to speak volumes. Is the CX-5 the SUV bargain of 2019?

They have been in need of a turbo MazdaSpeed3 AWD for a decade. I just purchased a 2020 CX-5 Touring AWD. It's such a great bargain basically the same interior except leatherette seats and all the same safety features as the higher trims. The 2.5L non-turbo in sport mode is more responsive than my 2.0L Mazda3 was.
