Once calibrated QD OLED destroys WOLED in every way except that largest QD OLED caps out at 77 inch. WOLED is old tech and with S95D having a matte screen that destroys contrast of QD OLED that Leaves the S90D the undisputed king of OLED TV’s. Only thing close is Sony A95L but that price tag plus weaker gaming performance to me makes S90D king of 2024

And the ONLY leg up the A95L might have on the S90D is processing power. Other than that the S90D is brighter, more colorful and offers SO much more in the way of inputs, gaming, etc. Only reason anyone should not buy a Samsung QD OLED right now is if they really, REALLY want an LG or a Sony due to brand loyalty, aka repeat buyers that want to go with what they know, and not step out of the comfort zone (and have money to burn, lol)

@@Whitewolf_1186 I own an A95L now and agree with what you’re saying. I’m in this thread because I’m considering getting a S90D at this point.
It’s going to sound strange, but the A95L has a picture that “should” be the starting point for any television, however it’s boring.
I was a long tv LG Owner, HD and 4K content would “wow” you with the detail and motion. I do like a bit of soap opera effect in my shows tuned down to my liking, the A95L fights that.
In Gaming on my CX I would play out of game mode to add smooth motion processing to my games which made them look great. I think I’d have ALLM on and VRR off or some variety of that, however games played well and looked great with no apparent lag.
On the A95L the way I played before seems impossible. Game play outside of Game Mode is unplayable due to lag.
I also don’t like the fact there aren’t 4 HDMI 2.1 jacks which forces you to operate devices that require that type of connection from a switch. It’s a step back from what I’m used to.
Generally I feel like it’s tamed and not allowed to be wild and free like Samsung televisions. I had and returned a S95B once that looked great but was kind of meh when upscaling regular hd content on Netflix. Hopefully this has been resolved with the new processor.

Both TVs, including the S95D, are great for gaming, especially on PC and 144hz mode. Gaming on HDR the G4 wins easily and is on par with S95D, but it comes down to if the game has proper HDR or you have to mod it using RTX HDR or reshade add-ons, it also depends on the black levels are 100% black. I have the G4 77" and it's amazing, it's so bright and responsive with very low input lag, but either TV will give you good gaming performance. I love my G4 simply because you can tune the HDR picture more because 4x 144hz HDMI ports and because it's very bright at 10% Window in HDR scenes, but like I said, you have to analyze the game's HDR first because many games have broken HDR and that does not look good on any OLED, but through mods and addons on PC at least you can fix this, or you can adjust the TV to fix this (LG is better with this)

To add to the DV complaint, most steaming services only offer single layer DV - meaning you get almost indifferent experience from Samsung. The key deal breaker are those BRs fully mastered with DV ( double - layer), like Matrix. Samsung can’t decode one of the layer so the color and pq are noticeablly different. Plus no DTs support from Samsung so audio is also worse. So if you home theater lovers with a lot of physical collections Samsung TV is definitely a no-go. But otherwise don’t be fooled by the names.

G4 is easy win for me. Amazing HDR and SDR, full audio passthrough (I have a good Home Theater). LG Oleds are better in general. LG protection is better against burn-in (We have RTINGS tests about that) and support is very good with many firmware and softwares updates. I have 2 LG Oleds also, a 42" C2 and 55" C1.

I dipped my toe into OLED with a B9 and I'm surprised how far video processing has come with my S90D. I like the QD-OLED colors on HDR content too. It's a small but noticeable step up over WOLED.

The matte coating on the S95D is just massively superior to either. It is like the difference between HD and SD if there is any light in your environment.

Been watching your videos lately. Years ago I got antsy and purchased a Sony X90J. I like the TV but always regretted not waiting a little extra and getting an OLED. Now I',m planning on getting a new OLED TV for the main room in a few months and I have to say I'm leaning very heavily towards the Samsung S90D.

Once calibrated QD OLED destroys WOLED in every way except that largest QD OLED caps out at 77 inch. WOLED is old tech and with S95D having a matte screen that destroys contrast of QD OLED that Leaves the S90D the undisputed king of OLED TV’s. Only thing close is Sony A95L but that price tag plus weaker gaming performance and lower gaming HDR performance to me makes S90D king of 2024

Thanks for this real world comparison. Too many reviewers neglect the fact that most people would never see a meaningful difference between these fantastic TV’s. In my mind the only reason to pay the premium price for the G4 over the S90D is if flush wall mounting is very important to you. Otherwise it’s the Samsung every time.

Hi Abby & the RTINGS team, thanks for the comparison.
Would you know why the LG TVs always look green when compared to samsung TVs in all reviews, and yet both are considered to be equally accurate and have a sub 3 deltaE?
It feels like either one would be off when it comes to accuracy, no? I can't find any info on this and it drives me crazy.
ps: I have a LG c1 and it doesn't "feel" green at all, however on youtube it always does...

    • @ReggieVdz
      @ReggieVdz 6 дней назад

@@Thryfte that can occur regarding details, resolution, it can occur flickering, you can lose in color space, green/magenta hues and white balance can also be off if not set correctly in camera... However this would occur on both televisions since you're filming with the same camera and hopefully the same settings. Also, I've noticed this on all channels comparing WOLED to QD OLED TVs, and it's not just these ones...

What you get for the price of the LG is the longest consecutively consumer producing OLED panel manufacturer and their latest flagship tv from them with incremental improvments every year vs flash in the pan Samsung with many reported instances of poor build quality and early panel degradation vs LG. LG had a decade of QC and investment in the tech which they have a mature product that comes out now with ever improving as well as yearly lowering the cost of its production for the consumer. I would buy a Samsung in a few years if they can keep up with the required output to be competitive ie having all panel sizes available and continue improving without cutting corners in production QC.
Also little ridiculous Samsung is not supporting Dolby Vision or DTS even AVRs have support for all major codecs and metadata these days why cut any of these is beyond me as the consumer loses the ability to watch what they want how they want. Why put the consumer at a disadvantage for some stance in the industry unless the alternative is widely used or payed for to be used in place at the same rate.

  • @ishaansaral502

LG has become disappointing since the C series used to be their flagship great value pick. Now they have made the G series their main focus with exclusive features, which leads to much higher prices that are closer to Sony. Samsung has always been the LCD value leader, but could never realistically compete with LG OLED with LCD. With the S95 series as their first OLED, they remain the value leader and can mostly compete with products closer to twice their price. Hard to justify buying an OLED for twice the price over QD-OLED. One is evolution and the other is innovation.
I think Samsung needs to focus on their QC issues and improve their upscaling and motion. Their software and processing is holding back their amazing TVs. Their ABL also seems a bit too aggressive. LG and Sony are still miles ahead in the software and chipset.

Depends on the country and legislation but from my point of view, this is not acceptable.

I truly hope more and more people refuse to buy because of unreliability

Great stuff! But it would be helpful to actually demonstrate the difference in motion processing and color saturation side by side which is not possible for customers like us. Best Buy’s and other show rooms play their TV in showroom mode. I asked this question in rtings forum and recommendation was to go with G4 since I got LG partner pricing. In bright rooms, I think G4 is a killer with extreme brightness.
