  • It was a great first day of action in the Olympics 7s!
    Who is into the quarter-finals?
Who impressed? And who are the dark horses?

7s is such a wonderful exhibition of skills and improvisation. As an Irishman, I obviously have my horse in the race but Fiji are just a total joy to watch, as well ws NZ on their day.

Thanks for the round up. I get the feeling a lot of people are first-time watching the 7s over here. 🇮🇪

Conroy and Kennedy are 2 world class players and Ireland have a chance of a medal. Still supporting NZL though

Ireland may just surprise, watching them all season they on their day can beat any team 🙏

Irelands problem is we probably need to beat Nz to avoid Fiji, as it's 1c vs 2a in the qf. Though if be beat either, you'd fancy us for a medal

Enjoyed the round up Alfie, nice easy format to watch in short 14 minute bursts, Hope Ireland can go a long way, as there is no England or GB

In England it was on BBC player all day. I enjoyed yesterday's fames and am looking forward to today's,as you said Fiji and Nz looked to be the most comfortable teams and Argentina were look good too.

Ireland actually played quite sluggish watching them yesterday and through the season first day being really magic but flopped on Day 2 ....Ireland have one job tomorrow beat New Zealand ,not seen Kennedy or Conroy yet,not sure if Hugo Keenan is an asset, defence and kick offs Ireland have an advantage from GAA, high felding of the ball and having to always tackle and defend mentally that is essential in Gaelic Football and Hurling...could be an advantage here...we will see

I love the Rugby 7s but unfortunately can’t even see the highlights in NZL so will be listening to your commentary thanks. Fiji and NZL are going to be hard to beat but Ireland and Argentina are the other 2 teams to watch. Really disappointed that they started it before the opening day and lack of coverage and wouldn’t rule out Australia either.

Ireland have a shit draw, but with Kennedy, Smith, Conroy, that 3 world class 7s players. Add in Keenan and the rest, Ireland are a force. IRE v NZ will tell alot where the teams are going. Runners up in group face Fiji.. 😢
