      cartridges are purely a way to extort the users. traditional safety razors beat multi blade razors every day. literally just flick up and down a bit while shaving

      I'm a huge weirdo for reusability, just thinking all the waste that we have nowhere to put so we just bury them just makes me mad. Meanwhile for a pure metal razor blade, if you gather enough of them I can imagine you just stuff them into a soda can or whatever then toss that into a forge and now you have a bar of metal ready to be used in whatever else, without having to dig for ores from the ground again. How awesome is that?
      And safety razor isn't any harder to get used to for the first time shaver (a teen) as any cartridge razor, so grampa's safety razor should've really been the end-all. Can't imagine why the cartridge system got invented if not only because the razor blades themselves might be a bit dangerous and cartridge completely avoids that so nobody can cut themselves while not shaving.

    Right now there is a GIANT market opurtonity for products that are high quality.
    In a world where shoe laces don't stay tied, and can opener's don't open, the malfeasant investments and miss allocation of resources has rotted our system because of our inflationary monitary experiment.

      @@eddiepugmire447 Sorry folks, just saw these questions/comments. I ordered the "mild" one and had no problem using it. It shaved pretty well and no cuts or anything. After using it for about a month off and on, I wished it shaved "closer" so I order the more aggressive model razor as well. That one is easy to use also and it is certainly more aggressive. So much so, that it irritates the skin on my under chin and neck area pretty badly. So I have been experimenting with different creams and gels trying to find a comfortable solution. So going from the electric to the mild wasn't too difficult, but going to the more aggressive one has been a challenge, at least for me anyway. Maybe my skin is just sensitive because until now, it has never seen an actual blade.

    I have been using a DE safety razor for years. My grandfather died when I was in college and perpetually broke. I flew home to visit family to help go through his things and found an old brass safety razor and decided to help keep his memory alive by shaving with it even though it looked "dangerous". I found out the blades were extremely cheap and I still use that old razor. After watching this, I think my grandpa would bless my upgrading to a razor like this.

    I bought the Henson Medium and it's an excellent razor after swapping out the included Astra SP blade with a Rapira Platinum Lux blade. The Astra SP's work great for a lot of people but for me I did not have a good experience. Sharp enough but too rough and too many weepers even going with the grain. You really have to search for the blade that suits your skin best and might take you several weeks. Anyways, it is one of the easiest razors I've ever used, the angle is incredibly easy to get right and you don't even have to think about it. Also almost any lather will work, even regular Barbasol if you are in a hurry. Can't go wrong with it.

    I just ordered a Henson rasor. I've seen the adds many times & it took several months, but it started to grow on me. I've never been a DE shaver, I always just used cartridge razors because of how common & easy they are to use. But I was never happy with the shave I got. I've used Gillette 3 & 5 blades, Schick, & most recently Harrys. Harry's has been the best out of all of them, but it still left a lot to be desired. I was absolutely fed up with how aggressive they are & how much they pull the hair before & while they cut it. Even brand new heads end up cutting my face to heel, & I don't have particularly sensitive skin. I looked further into DE shaving & Henson & decided to give it a go & I chose a Henson razor as my first DE razor because of the fit & finish of it, as well as how mild it is--I wanted something that I can try out & get my feet wet without slicing my face up. We need more companies like this & I can say that this company actually started me going back to the essence of masculinity from the 40's & 50s.

    Have the Henson razor in Green anodized color and the razor is fantastic. Some constructive feedback. The razor doesn’t glide super smoothly across the skin due to the anodized coating. No more clogging ! I can rip through a weeks worth of growth with no problems. No clogging ! No tugging ! No razor burn ! Safety razors are beautiful tools to look at as well. There are even fantastic SE razors that will last you an entire lifetime and you can even hand it down to kids.
    Also, the LEAF is an amazing tool as well. I use the leaf razor to shave my head and it is amazing. The leaf also uses DE blades...it is a gorgeous piece of equipment.

The only problem with double edge razors is the water used in preparing your face rinsing your face several times during a shave and cleaning (with water) the shaving bowl and brush if you do the full old time shave that is presented on RUclips videos. We need a solution for the water usage in wet shaving.

    It's not as expensive as you might think ladies and gentlemen. You only have to buy the razor itself 1 time and a 100 pack of blades lasts a long time. I've been doing this kind of shaving for 10 years come February 2024 and I own a Henson AL13 steel blue medium razor and it's awesome. In fact it's one of my "go to" razors. Putting together a starter kit with this kind of razor is about the cost of a high end electric razor only it lasts for years and years.

    Jeez! I wouldn't buy this, even though it's awesome. This CEO is such a legit awesome person though. Tip of the hat sir. Getting my business and respect, and you've spread good will too. Sweeet!

    I own the Hensen A13 Medium. "Well made, smooth shave!" Is my slogan when I pick it up! As well as "surprisingly simple"! The razor is a 9.5/10. Should weigh more, like a great knife there should be weight to it so the knife can do the cutting.

      I used to feel like a heavier handle was better, i have two or three other "safety razors" that are quite hefty in terms of weight. I have the aluminum version which is very light, and I've gotten used to it, and now honestly prefer it. I found the heavier ones i had to honestly get a little exhausting.

    The thing about cartridge razors is the little bit of soap they add on the end. It makes the blades dirty.
    If you clean the blade properly they last a lot longer. I will still probably buy one even though the costings used here are incorrect.Where can I get oneIn the UK.

    I personally found the original mild Henson razor wasn't my thing. I preferred my Merkur 23C for mild shaves. That being said, as a category, wet shaving with safety razors is worlds better from shaving with a cartridge razor. I was once forced by circumstance to shave with a cartridge razor after having made the switch and it felt like I was shaving with broken glass. It was agonizing to use a new, "sharp" (they basically pre-blunt the blades) cartridge razor once I felt how good a sharp DE blade was.

    @Zac you don't shave your cheek line? My beard is about twice as long as yours but I still have to use the electric shaver every day or so for the cheek line. I like it because it won't cut my long hairs but I might try this!

    I just received my razor in the mail. Looks great, and I love the cardboard (plastic free package). The outter packaging was plastic bubble wrap pouch (not a fan, but ok).
    I plan on trying it out and letting you know how it goes. I will also be reviewing on their site. So far 5 out of 5

      Tried it out this morning on 5-day stubble. Worked amazing. Putting my environmental love aside and only rating on performance, this razor was smooth, didn’t pull like my cartridge razors.
      At times my employer requires me to shave 7days a week. This is a life saver. I will be screaming from the mountains to all my coworkers. These will be great gifts as well.

      You can also reuse the plastic your self and if more people did that their would be a lot less plasti being sent of to third world countries to be dumped into the ocean.

    • @clintrobinson1706
      @clintrobinson1706 Год назад

      @@bighands69 So your argument is if I were to only use the plastic again, it would not go into the ocean. This suggestion ignores the fact that I requested them not to use it in the first place. Thus would eliminate the need for me to repurpose a product that was designed and produced to be a single use item. Therefore your comment was not helpful. Perhaps you should have said this instead:
      I agree that they should not use this type of packaging, hopefully they will change it. Now that it came into your possession anyway, I hope you are able to find another purpose for it since reuse is better than the garbage it is (since it is not recyclable).

    Why did Henson choose the RK blades over the Astra blades. I’ve heard so many positive things about Astra, and negative things about RK, I’m scratching my head. The only thing I can surmise is going with a cheaper, and less efficient, blade to keep costs lower. Henson, or anyone with knowledge of my question, I would appreciate a reply. Thank you!

      I know based on when they made the switch that this was not their reason, but I'll point out that Astra is made in Russia, Rk is made in India, and personally geopolitics being what they are right now, I will not buy anything made in Russia any time soon no matter the price or quality.

    I've been using a safety razor that I bought on amazon for very little money (I want to say less than 20 bucks) for about five years now. It's been perfect for me. I can even do completely dry trims on the cheeks just to edge up a bit with no problems. The very best part though, is that I HAVE NEVER CHANGED BLADES. If you open the thing up, take the razor out, rinse it and towel dry it completely the blade won't go bad. FIVE YEARS on a 20 dollar setup. That's an incredible value! Stop listening to the big corps that want to bleed you dry and start being responsible to yourself and your environment. Completely recommend.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 Год назад

      But you have to design your product to the manufacturing product. It is one of the reason why outsourcing of manufacturing where the design is done in one country and then manufactured in another has produced very low levels of innovation.
      One company that does the design straight through the manufacturing can then boast about their own manufacturing. And the number of companies that do that is very small.
