I built the MG Ex-S recently, which was a similar idea (modern update of an older MG), and I have a large number if leftover parts from that kit because it used so many new parts. Most of those parts were to improve its color separation. Pretty fun build, but it's an expensive kit and needs its own shelf.
Plan on doing the Zeta Ver Ka? It's basically a Katoki redesign MEANT to be anime accurate with a few edits. Bulky with even color separated fingers for maximum anime accuracy.
Yeah, I have that kit in the backlog. Can't wait to build it! I really like the Zeta ver 2.0 though, so curious how it'll stack up. A review similar to this one, comparing the two kits would be fun.

The ReGZ Custom is one of the most common Garage/Resin Conversion kits. Bandai had over a dozen yrs of custom fan built examples on how the new MG should look like. One custom build uses the MG Zeta ver2.0 since the ReGZ is a partsformer. My favorite resin conversion build of this MS is in the Titans Custom colors.

If you prefer the look of the original regz you can get the unicorn version of the regz and it will have a lot of the same updates, only difference is color

Out of curiosity could you make some things from the Og mg Re-gz with parts left over? Like for example could If I get this would i be able to make the simple Re-gz backpack of the original (not the back weapon system) or could I make the og head or beam rifle? I ask because I like this new version of the kit but their are some parts from the original that I prefer, like the simple Re-gz backpack or the beam rifle, that I can't paint because i don't have paint or painting skills.
That'd be cool. The RG Zeta 3 was like that and came with so many extra pieces you could make back-ups of specific sections. This Re-GZ Custom though, doesn't have enough parts. Way more than a standard kit, but much of the inner frame carries over, so you're really just left with a bunch of random armor pieces with nothing to put them on. Most of the reused pieces come off the original kit's E, F and G runners.
Of course Bandai would make an MG RGZ-91B Re-GZ Custom as a P-Bandai. Of course... 🤦♂ I'm not well versed in UC lore, but apparently this mobile suit was intended to be used by Amuro Ray, fans would probably want to add this to their collection. Aside from minor issues that Bandai opted to use stickers, I think this is a nice update and a nice retrofit from an older kit. Fun Facts... The MG RGZ-91 Re-GZ came out in 2001 and then there's a 2019 P-Bandai of the MG RGZ-91 Re-GZ (Unicorn Ver.).
It’s such a nice update by adding a background of your Gunpla! It reminds me of Mecha Gaikotsu a lot! Also, will you be comparing with the Unicorn version well?
*sigh* I ended up buying the Side F exclusive twice just to get a copy (the Ebay one was the only one to get here so far). I just wanted an MG Re-GZ. After two P-Bandai releases and a Side F Exclusive, this is the best I could get. And I find, to my annoyance, 100% polystyrene parts. No ABS to be found - it's sad when the high grade has a full ABS inner frame in the legs, but the limited Side F Exclusive version I spent over $100 - twice - to acquire, has all polystyrene, and not even a full inner frame. Modern Bandai sucks. Truthfully, I don't even know what the Re-GZ Custom is, I just wanted the Re-GZ from Char's Counterattack.
lol, yeah, it has been out of print for a while. Think Bandai knows the original kit is a bit of a niche purchase at this point. Still, it'll get reprinted eventually, and you might be able to find one at a local hobby shop (if you have any around). This is one of those kits that kind of just sits on store shelves for years.

I'm not 100% sure, but pretty sure this suit was just drawn as a 1 off for one of those Mobile Suit Variations encyclopedias, so the designer (Mika Akitaka) just had fun with it. He probably couldn't have imagined that 30 years later there'd be a 1/100 kit and that his spur-of-the-moment Ak-47 rifle would become so iconic for this suit.

they cheapened out on the wings. instead 2 parts sandwiching the wings through a hole and a polycap, they just went with c-clips
Yeah, I wonder if a polycap would have more grip and would prevent the wings from slumping down so quickly.
