Yo~ Here’s a back to basic Master Grade Gundam review! The original MG Zeta Gundam ver 2.0 review was a major step up from the previous reviews, so I kind of want this Zeta Gundam ver KA to be a similar improvement.

- Production notes for future me to laugh at -
- Over the last 2 years or so, I’ve really wanted to make something different. Lots of one off videos, most of which will not be uploaded. However, it’s been long enough that I think I need to return to my roots and just make a classic Master Grade Gundam review.
- This ‘production’ was the most scatterbrained I’ve ever been. I know I said that with the last video (G Gundam Hyper Mode), but this was a whole other level of lacking structure
- For context, the best way I’ve found to make a video is in the following order: Build kit / take notes - write script - make shot list based on script - get footage - update script with new finds - take a few days to let it marinate - update script one last time - Record/edit audio - organize all the files in Premiere - lay down the audio and edit the footage to match. This has always been the most efficient schedule for me. However, I’ve gotten way more laid back over the years, slowly disregarding the order, so now ‘production’ is just a chaotic mess
- I built the kit, then immediately shot a bunch of footage. No script or shot list. Just whatever I thought I’d need. Of course, none of it ended up being used… The project folder for this video is 497gb! Yeah, it’s really high res 4K footage, but still. Willing to bet I have 2 hours of footage for this 20 minute video
- Couldn't get the script where I wanted it. With earlier videos I focused on brevity, but as I made more, I chilled out and tended to ramble. I don’t mind, as I think it adds some character, but I’ve gone a little too far recently. Just talking in circles and restating points. Wanted to reign it in here
- Tried to trim some of the repetitive fat, mainly removing the 4 categories in the beginning, not repeating points after a score, and no repetitive rundown during the verdict. I really like this update, though it does feel jarring compared to previous videos
- The initial script would make a 30 min video. I trimmed it down and eventually recorded ~26 minutes of audio. Then when I edited the video, I managed to trim it down further to ~21 minutes. I still have the unused audio, and could easily add it back in. Maybe another time.
- Way too many repetitive words in this one. Count the number of times I say: naturally, also, regardless, of course, and iconic. Might be a good drinking game lol
- With the script finished, I went back and shot the footage I actually needed. Still managed to shoot too much though.
- Almost none of the video footage worked. Every other shot was slightly off from the previous. I think the combination of the set and jumping to 4k shows more inconsistencies. Also doesn’t help that I actually hit the record button on the top of my camera for each shot lol. Probably moved the camera a little every time. Just bought a remote though, so hopefully that won’t be a problem moving forward. Had to spend a lot of time in editing micromanaging transitions between shots. Don’t want to have to do that again!
- I hate audio. So naturally, I procrastinated. To be fair, it was always raining! Eventually though, I buckled down and recorded it. Many different takes spliced together, but it was all recorded in one 2 hour sit down, so hopefully it flows well. Also, it did still rain towards the end. RIP
- Editing was similar to the last few videos, where I just put down the audio, then placed as much footage as I could over top, leaving a lot of gaps that I had to fill in with additional footage. It’s annoying going back and forth, but it’s really the only way to work when production is this out of order
- No Photoshop title card here. They take FOREVER to make, but they were a huge help in learning Photoshop. I would like to return to them, but first I need to get back a structured production.
Been on a Mega-man kick recently, btw. My favorite will always be MM2, but I really enjoy X1, X4, Zero 3, and ZXA. Anyway, this is just another way of saying I’ve been listening to a lot of The Megas recently lol Both their Mega-man 2 and 3 albums are amazing!
• The Megas - Get Equipp...
Some other great MM tracks I’ve had on in the background recently:
• Megaman Zero 2: Ice Brain
• Remasterd Track Rockma...
• Megaman Zero 4: Straig...
• Mega Man ZX Tunes OST ...
Yo~ Thanks for watching!

Please do the Mg Guntank
The proportions and look of this kit were so anime inspired, Katoki even went through the trouble of molding a miniscule Zeta symbol into the bottom of the forehead jewel.
Fun fact, Katoki himself actually wanders over to each completed sprue and engraves it himself with a miniature hammer and chisel.
He even gave it the oversized hands from the original art. Katoki made his job the engineering of the transformation that much more difficult just to capture the proportions from the original anime. What a madman.
But he didn't add the tiny triangles under the vfin which the 2.0 has :( sadness
The Ver.2.0 has this too.
I was honestly surprised how this kit is so anime accurate. I was expecting a more stylized ver Ka look, but I'm glad they went full animation accuracy.
Yeah, it was a real surprise. Not that I'm complaining. Really hope future Ver KA kits continue to go this route.
Yeah, even Katoki himself stated that he wanted to go for a more anime accuracy look
@@redheadphones6 I mean the MG Narrative seems ultra anime accurate, though to be fair the Narrative is already Katokis baby.
Zeta is in my top 3 Gundam designs ever, I was so excited to build this when I got it and it did not disappoint.
Same here bro
Same, the Zeta is such a cool design, and despite only being in the 2nd anime series, it's a wild change up from the standard Gundam design. Great suit, and I'm really hoping we can get a White Zeta 3 some time soon.
So glad to see you again! I've dropped off from building kits because I can't really afford new ones at the moment, but I really want this MG. They're the bulk of what I collect, and I don't have a Zeta yet. All you've done is convince me I need it just that much more. Great video and review, by the way!
Thanks! That happens to me a lot too. Too many kits to buy, not enough money lol.
This should be a staple in every Zeta lover's collection. One of my top 5 builds. Honestly, I'd have a hard time not picking up any Ver. Ka kits going forward. Every one is a banger in some aspect. Some older ones might be sketchy but that's the evolution of modeling for ya. Can't go wrong with anything going forward.
Man, I’ve said it before, but you are honestly my favorite reviewer. If it hasn’t been for your reviews, id have never started painting my builds. Wish we could get you a deal with a supplier so you could do this more often
Never miss an upload. Been waiting for this one
Thanks, hope it was worth the wait!
Though the MkII was my favourite hero machine from Zeta, this model has made me appreciate the Zeta. This is definitely on my wishlist.
And a wholeheartedly agree with you about a Mk II VerKa. The 2.0 is fantastic (the first MG I ever built) but I would love to see a new one with modern engineering and the whole suite of VerKa detail.
Yeah, I really like the Gundam MK-II ver 2.0. One of my favorite kits ever. But I do have to admit that it's showing it's age quite a bit. Molded in head vents, awkward to paint around leg vents, a few too many poly-caps and seamlines. I really wouldn't be against an upgrade.
Honestly this kit has become my favorite MG, one thing that might help your ground poses is that the lower knee can actually bend forward both helping you balance the legs more and also for making some very Obari style poses that i just adore, on another note though watching your video has made me realize i didn't do the transformation quite right since the nose on mine is tilted up a fair degree lmao
Nice! Glad to see you uploading more
Thanks! The goal is 1 new video a month.
Great to see you back, amazing review
Oh hell yeah, love to see a new review from you man
Thanks!
I'm so glad to see you making this videos again bro.
you got the best gundam reviews man thanks
Im so happy that the quality of your videos improves over time!
new red headphones video!! aww yeah!!
this kit is a masterpiece
Wow please make more gunpla reviews! Honestly i like your video format on reviewing this kit! I think you're the only one i really liked reviewing this kit
Welcome back! Good to see you again.
Thanks! Always good to be back.
I love your detailed reviews and always to forward to them!
Thanks! Hope to have more out soon.
Another fantastic review - I've been waiting to see this ever since I saw you were working on it. I built the kit a bit ago and enjoyed it quite immensely; it looked good and felt as solid as a brick, and I'm hoping to get a second one to display in waverider mode. As far as anime accuracy, I feel like the ver.Ka and 2.0 succeed at it in different areas, but the ver.Ka manages to capture the overall "feel" of the lineart much more accurately, expressing the stout and powerful, but sleek and fast feeling of it almost perfectly.
My man. New vid from my favorite gunpla creator 😁
We're so back
my goats back again !!!!!
Another brilliant review! Thanks for continuing to post your amazing content.
Thanks for watching! These are a lot of fun to make.
I'm literally building it right now, watching RUclips, when I got the notification for this video. Wild! I was hoping you'd review it! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks! Weird timing on that lol. Hope your build goes well!
This was the first Ver Ka kit I ever built. Solid kit
best Gundam reviewer ever! thanks to you i know that the Zeta is a Must buy!keep up making amazing reviews!!!!
Thanks! Hope to make more soon.
I loved the Video! Amazing work! Keep up dude!!!!
Thanks!
Loved this and will be getting a second copy
HELL YEAH NEW VIDEO! I have this kit in backlog for over a year 😅
lol, yeah, it sat in my back log for a few months. I think I just wanted to save the build for the right time to really enjoy it.
This is my 3rd favorite kit oat behind the pg gp01 and the mg rx78 2.0, coincidentally this video released on the same day i recieved the new Natrative ver Ka. Cant wait to build it!
It's funny how much of a Zeta hater I was initially. Then I watched the series, and I got the HGUC Revive kit. Fell in love with it enough to get this MG VerKa kit and holy hell is it the best looking MG right out of the box!
Glad to see a new video. The design of zeta has actually grown on me but I hate the ZZ.
I kinda want this but also curious if they'd do the red zeta
Yeah the viper also the karaba
Got one of these bad boys last black friday I really should start building it
I'm loving the current direction of the MG Ver Ka line and I'm hoping we get a Ver Ka GP01 and GP02
👑 you dropped this
yoooo 3 uploads this year
THE MG GOAT IS BACK WITH A RETURN TO FORM
FORM HAS BEEN RETURNED ?
I'm honestly surprised how much I agree with what you said in the review, especially the transformation. I transformed the 2.0 back & forth multiple times & it was fairly easy to do, but I transformed the Ver Ka exactly once & didn't want to do it again. Also as funny as it sounds, I do prefer how the 2.0 wave rider looks. The bigger wings actually work quite well in wave rider compared to the MS mode where its a bit too distracting imo. Anyway, great review overall, hope to see more reviews from you in the future
Whew, I was nervous I was going crazy when I said the 2.0 was easier to transform lol. Honestly I didn't know if anyone would agree with me on that, so thanks for the reassurance on that.
Hey I was really fascinated how you extra details on the kits. Any plans making detailing tip video?
You kinda missed the fact that this kit has an ab crunch, thus allowing it to have a really unique waist swivel
Please do a review on MG Banshee Ver ka. Thanks. All power to your channel!
Great review of a great kit! Real quick, you mention doing touchups with a Gundam marker. What kind of markers do you use, and do you usually use the marker itself or a paintbrush as a medium?
Thanks! I just use the marker itself. I don't like making things too complicated lol. Just the straight marker, do a coat, wait 5 minutes, hit it with another coat, repeat until it looks good, then go back with very sharp blade and clean up the edges. It's not for everyone, but it works for me.
Great review as usual! Question: Can you plug a saber beam into the rifle to make the beam bayonet mode like in the show? Also, think you may have misspoke since the rifle is usually extended in hand and not in WV mode.
13:28
what i miss about the 2.0 is that the back wing had a locking mechanism that allows the Kit to be Stable is the wing is not deployed
The only trouble spot I found was the joint within the chest. It allows for great swivels but the peg-joint connection is a bit shallow, allowing it to separate if you're trying to get it into a good pose. Other than that, the hips and legs are solid as a rock, and even survived my cat running through my shelf a couple times when he got the zoomies.
I got this forr my birthday from my wife and I absolutely love it.
Rather simple build too as ver ka, refreshing. however the bandai waterslides is the one that upsets me lol... (as usual)
I love the legs. and the shoulder-core-chest is weird though cus it's hollow. Gotta be careful with the shoulder hinge.
Bro we need more of your videos, youre my favorite english speaking gunpla channel. If you need hep with patreon or something let us know!
WERE SO BACK
please review the mg guntank id be so happy!
I already have the 2.0 version but after watching this, I might get the Ver Ka LOL
Haven't built mine yet, it's going to replace my 2.0 in my Gundam Team display.
I still want a MG Gundam Exia 2.0!
I'd like to agree with you on the 5/5 for appearance the added vortex generators definitely spoil it.
This isn't even from an anime accuracy point of view as I tend to love the previous verkas that slapped them on; however they seem much too chunky compared to the ZZ's which did the separate silver piece gimmick much better. It's also something about the symmetry and placement of them that feels like it spoils everything great about the kit, Definitely feel like the were placed a little too close to the already present blue bits of the design.
There's little things I can complain about like how the face has been awkwardly squashed inward or how slim the bellbottoms are compared to the anime + the concept art for this kit, but they're so minor in the grand scheme of how amazing the kit is
also a shame to see the fake foot piston from the 2.0 to go :p
I know you seem to have a taste for the older style kits, but will you eventually review the Narrative gundam ver. Ka.? I recently built it and man was it a joy to build.
i wonder if i have to topcoat do i need to mask the chest silver coating?
Honestly, I still am having trouble with how the chest collapses in. When I tried transforming it back from flight mode it kept popping out and it took me about an hour of resisting dealers to throw it against a wall to at least have it stay together.
This is the single best Zeta Gundam model kit out there. Unlike the Ver.2.0 this doesn't sacrifice stability in mobile suit mode for the transformation. And while that had the dedicated base, it was also non-compatible with any other action base that came afterward.
Regarding the hip joint locking mechanism coming loose: you need to avoid making the crotch armor hinge downward. That is the release for this lock. I find mine holds ground poses much better than the Ver.2.0 and is about as stable as the MG Zeta Plus.
did you pick up the mg ver ka narrative gundam?
A mk2 ver.ka would be interesting tbh, the old mg is good but ball joint hips suck, and the legs can get a Lil loose over time
Rick Diaz Quattro when?
I got the Zeta MG Ver Ka at Hobby Lobby for 40% off.
I have the Zeta 2.0 and I really want to have this kit but I watched so many reviews and comparisons and not only is the 2.0 aesthetically much more modern due to Ver. Ka went the anime aesthetic design, the 2.0 has much more content.
It has the base and the hyper mega launcher.😢
It was actually much more worst when the Zeta Ver.Ka was first announced and people see it as looking like an 80's kit with less content than the 2.0 who in the other way looks more modern and has everything you need.
What I even fear is they might release the Ver.Ka with the Base and Hyper Mega Launcher as P- Bandai 😢
I got a mixed feeling for this kit. Sure it's much waaaay better than 2.0. But I don't like some of its features, like the silver fin poking through from chest like almost every Ver Ka kits (although I like it on Narrative because Katoki Hajime originally designed it), it comes without Hyper Mega Launcher and launcher base, the looks on waverider mode, and especially the price.
Probably will try it after I done with Zeta 2.0, and maybe it will change my mind.
Before Saviour gundam, there was Zeta.
Still waiting Hummingbird version.
I'm kinda surprised you're praising kit's anime and lineart accuracy but don't mention vortex generators (that aren't anime or lineart accurate) or how head is not the same as lineart either (or am I only one who thinks that model's head is a bit too long compared to lineart?). I remember how you disliked Gelgoog 2.0's panel lines and was expecting these elements to end up as point decrease as well.
You didn’t have problems with slotting the blue forearm in? It seems like a common issue people have one that I think will be a problem for new builders , it’s supposed to snap around the yellow parts but the angle that’s required for this is hard to understand and will result in either stress marks or it refusing to sit flush and it requires a worrying amount of force to unpeg them to try again.
Interesting. I never had that problem. Thanks for bringing it up though, I'll look into it.
The 2.0 is definitely easier to transform tbh
Just buy the 2.0 instead, got it
Ver. Ka clears I fear 😅
With such sad state of mg new offering, my vote goes to a auguy MG review.
i was disappointed with this ver ka look. we have stuff like the Nu and Sazabi and the recent Barrative with the signature katoki look but they somehow had to ruin this with the anime-like aesthetic. for some reason they really avoid putting panel lines on all the zeta models
When there are seemingly unnecessary under gating, it's likely intended for a later P-Bandai variant release.

Have you not built the ZZ Ver Ka? It uses the same silver painted plastic and I think has the same oddly saturated yellow.
I think I prefer the overall aesthetics of the 2.0 and the RG over this. The Ver Ka has better details for sure, but it looks awkward. The derpy eyes, small wings, sharp/downwards swept chest and colors all look wrong to me.
The Mk-II is my favorite Gundam by far, I'm not sure I'd want a ver ka of it.
Nah, I haven't built the ZZ Gundam ver KA. I'm not really a ZZ guy. That kit does look great though, might pick it up if I can find a good deal. Love the blocky edges of those 80's designs.
@@redheadphones6 Poses like a brick, but the build is phenomenal. It might be that the FAZZ (ver ka) is better to get, if you only want one of them.
I'd HARDLY say the MG 2.0 zeta has an "anime accurate" appearance at all, the 1.0 and ver ka are much closer. The 2.0 is like a custom. It also desperately needed an upgrade, aside from the brittle plastic utterly unfit for a transforming kit it had some glaring engineering flaws in terms of balance, it's easy to offset a backpacks weight by articulating the ankles but the 2.0 seem to purposefully have zero forward articulation in that area, which I don't understand as it wouldn't affect the transformation at all. Glaring issue as I said, not sure what they were thinking with that one.
The deal with the accuracy is that other model kits and appearances in other media like games had it looking closer to that, the blue flaps are almost always angled out I think even the new animations in the movie appear to do this
@@andyreeves6771 Ah that's 100% the case, the mg 2.0 was rushed to release with the movies
I don't like how narrow the face of ver ka zeta, and unlike 2.0 it doesn't come with free stand or hyper mega launcher
Appearance should have been a 2 or 3. It has zero details and panel lines. Really plain looking.
Are we looking at the same kit?
imo this is the worst Zeta interpretation to date but hey, at least it's well engineered
Why's that?
@@redheadphones6 Zeta's one of the very few designs where I prefer when model kits take some liberties, something about the classic design is just off to me. Great in motion, but as a model kit it just doesn't work. And it doesn't help Ver Ka has these goofy vortex generators, or that the Waverider mode's wings just look bad.
