    MY first was 420 onan Steiner in 1989, 2nd was a 430 Steiner in 1997, Kohler 24 repower to Kohler 30, sold to my son in 2016, replaced with Ventrac Kubota Diesel. I love them all and have done much personalization with attachments. You can't go wrong. Duals can be a problem in stressing the axles on uneven ground. I considered them, but spent time with the service department and was advised against them. No problem on dam banks vertically or on the hills of Northcentral Ohio. I've also spent time at the factory in Orrville. A quality operation. All attachments are shared. I also run a Kubota L4060 with grapple and other stuff. Great combo on significant acreage.

    Stan I’m a retired farmer from Canada 🇨🇦 I had three farms. We ran pretty much all John Deere equipment. I don’t want to start an argument what colour is best. Green paint the quality was decent but more importantly or dealer was amazing. We had two and four wheel drive tractors and trucks and even a ww2 Jeep. It’s been my experience even with some very large high horsepower machines with large ag tires once’s you once you burry that machine down to the belly you are stuck. Doesn’t matter the colour or if your in snow or mud. We ran a lot of echo hand held power products on out fruit farms too and the eco line really seemed to preformed welland hold up well with our employees and the our small engine shop ag and turf power service gave us awsome support

    Stan.....dual wheels on the Ventrac are for slope mowing mainly. You actually get much better results in snow by taking the outside tires off & running it with only 4 tires!!!

    • @williamdavidson9009
      @williamdavidson9009 6 лет назад +1

      Might do better with 4 if he doesn't sink in. Duals might keep him from getting buried if the snow is really 3 ft deep.

    • @mlindholm
      @mlindholm 6 лет назад

      william davidson it depends. If it has the ground clearance to sink the tires down, singles would be better. We can see it doesn't though. Duals work like a sno-cat, and float...but they're not aggressive enough (or have enough surface area like tracks) to bite well enough.

      Absolutely, it depends on the application however, I would want it to float on the snow just like Polaris has their tracks for there atv’s a plow with tracks would dominate on that machine in places with high snow volumes. I live in PA however, we use atv’s with regular tires for all our commercial sidewalks. It eliminates laborers that would otherwise use shovels.

    I know with my RWD cars my snow tires are stepped down a width size for better snow/ice traction. I think that Ventrac would do better in the snow with the 4 tire setup than the 8 tire setup. I think the 8 tire/wheel setup is probably better suited for dirt, sand and/or mud. Of course your experience would know better than me and my spoiled paved road driving as*. Subscribed!

  • @chasefreedom5178

    Putting a set of taller and wider tires with spacers putting them outside the fenders would do wonders in deep snow. Raised on a farm/ranch when needed we just jumped into the Case 2670 or versatile 935 nothing stood in your way. Going thru creeks, drifts that you would get lost in was a snap. Calving season I was blown away by what articulating tractors were capable of. That Ventrac just needs its belly up higher there is not enough flotation with the low profile tires. Better floatation with AG tread tires will make that ventrac a snow machine.

    Stan I agree with you that Franky is nuts

  • @terryspooner128
    @terryspooner128 Год назад

    Ventrac is on the right track. What they need to do to make it something like what I'd buy is put much bigger wheels, like 16 inch. Put some 8 x 16" R1 or R2 tractor tires, and have a decent front loader and rear PTO to run a brushhog or tiller and you've got something. The Ferarri Cobram tractor is a better machine because of that. Ventrac makes the changes so that we can use our existing CAT 1 attachments and power them, plus a front loader we'll buy one. Until then it just a fancy lawn tractor.

  • @CoalChrome
    @CoalChrome 6 лет назад +1

    Hey Stan, you had a quote from your original Ventrac review saying you were putting the Ventrac in places where you couldn't 50 hp tractor and while i don't doubt that's true, we have a pair of 55 horse Mahindras (both 5500s) and my dad has put them in exactly some of the places that you are talking about, and we'veonly gotten it stuck once in those areas. we had a Woods BB 72 rated for 2 inches, and we have run over full grown pine trees that fell over. after that crapped out, we got a 720 and its rated for 3-4 inches and we do the same thing, and it does great. we put our mahindras through worse heck than you put your Ventrac through, my dad was once mowing through 8 foot tall grass next to a pond and got it stuck in 3 feet of mud. all we did was un-hook the mower, tow it away, hook the tractor up to a pick-up and started it up and towed it out, they are built to last i tell you.

    I'm thinking that there's a limit as to how many tires you can have pushing through the snow (in a one horse open sleigh). Too many tires and those tires are meeting lots of resistance to movement through the snow. And of course, turf tires aren't made for "off-roading" though deep snow. But if someone offered me that machine, I would accept it in less than a heartbeat. It would make lawn mowing and snow blowing FUN! Wouldn't rule out off-roading either.

      Ive seen a new ventrac being demo'd by the school here. The ventrac is a bit larger and the hydrauliic flip up deck ventrac has is way too heavy and its just longer than older simpler mower decks steiner makes. They are both great machines. Id take my steiner and trade for a ventrac sure. The steiner i got just wont quit and always gets it done for us so i have no need to shop for a ventrac. I cant say one is better than the other. Build quality is equal.

    Mr. Genedak,
    We are in nw arkansas and love your videos. I have a question, we are getting more into landscaping along with our mowing and weed control. How do you price your labor for building retaining walls?

    Just losses the center bolt then tap it with a hammer and the wedge inside the pipe will loosen up and allow you to spin the wheel off don’t remover the entire center rod!

    I liked to attachments and smaller footprint until I did the research and can get a John Deere 4 series for not much more and it will do a lot more and has more attachments. The used ventrac I saw had a $18,000 price tag with a push blade only and wasn't the diesel version.

    Have you ever tested a Z-Spray or a Permagreen Triumph? That would be really cool to see. They are pretty similar but the Z-Spray is a little more fancy.

    That's one heck of a little tractor. A little small for my applications but; still a powerhouse of a tractor.
