But a tip if you want to "Optimize" dps is to sim your character and via raidbots you can see what the most optimal opener would be and then you kinda can figure out what abilities to prioritize.
Let's hope blizzard already packed and shipped shadow and they don't touch that spec again. I was looking for so long for a main but now with that mind flay playstyle shadow will be the one. Thanks for the video.
Let's see how the new difficulty is in M+ and how the pulls are structured. From what I saw so far on HC, it's a nightmare to dot all the mobs pulled, and shadowcrash seems to bug sometimes. Even if it hits dead in the middle of all mobs, it only dots like 2.
Another reason Shadow is good is that in the early stages of the expansion, everyone deals much less damage. As a result, there's a higher likelihood that mobs will live longer. Unlike in Season 3 or 4; in lower keys, you might just finish preparing (putting dots on every mob), but your BM and paladin mates already kill mobs.
Absolutely. Unfortunately this is happening right now with no content out for a while.. normal and heroic dungeons just aren't our strong suit. But hopefully people get that and hold out for m0/m+

Loved the vid! I see potential here too - in M+, void eruption is too good to pass up. Also void eruption is a real spell - cool visual, turns into void bolt which extends dots synergizing with class fantasy and mechanics. Dark ascension is a non spell. It doesn’t exist. DA is the definition of lazy and sloppy game design - just a flat damage buff with zero gameplay implications. So getting to play void eruption might bring me back to shadow.

It can feel a bit clunky when mobs die quick, as lots of specs can, it just isn't a strong suit for shadow. But raiding and decent level m+? I love it and some of the changes in TWW have really helped smooth out the gameplay
Few things about that opener: Use both stacks of mind blast before popping void form, youll get them right back. Cast devouring pleague, or make sure its up on the target, before casting Void torrent. Because of how your mastery works. Use Void bolt on CD to get the most uses out of it before void form runs out. Nice dps 💪🏽
💯. With the latency I have on beta it's super difficult to fit everything in neatly and button lag takes over at times, definitely room for improvement. I must say to me with mind blast, it feels far less important now than it did in dragonflight (voidweaver exempt from this ofcourse). Especially without the shadowy apparitions modifying tier set, mind flay insanity is just doing so much more DPS and I felt inclined to prioritise never missing a proc. Will be really interested to see when the full final sims are done for that pinpoint optimization 💪
mind blast hitting for a wet noodle now. I think its very very low on the prio now. S4 shadow you'd be 100% accurate but I don't believe you are for the beta.
@@jeCktHeReal Yea it generates 6 vs mind flay 12 per full channel. Blast about 1/3 the cast usually of a full channel. But flay does 40-50% more damage than blast on a full channel. I'd say if not for mind devourer talent, flay would win the prio because of the chance to proc cthun with flay but mind devourer chance to make dp free will keep mind blast just above mind flay on prio.
I was waiting to play Voidweaver shadow piest so much (the void ball is just amazing) and now i'm so discouraged that Archon seems so much better from any point of view. I hope they buff it just a little so it can be playable in higher content as well.
Currently voidweaver favours DA, and for archon void eruption is much better. I'm happy about that because I much, much prefer void eruption.. The 20% buff to voidform with archon combined with all of the other elements I mention like PI being even stronger etc is just too good. Currently simming a lot better overall for archon, but you're absolutely right, I think specifically in low keys with quicker pulls and smaller gaps between pulls DA is quite likely the better option
@@BiteSizeWoW Holy's Archon Halo does 16 million healing in 20 mans before Echo of Light, so if Shadow is anywhere near this value it's going to be really bonkers in raid. For reference, other major healing cooldowns like HTT, Tranq and Revival are in the ballpark of 7-10 million and their cooldowns are generally double or more compared to Halo.
Quite likely with an aug and BL. But yeah absolutely shadow isn't crazy OP in terms of pure DPS numbers , I also didn't play perfectly and have some awful ping on beta servers, but shadow as a package is looking really nice right now just as it did for df in my opinion
@@ryangg3909 tbh 5 m dps is pretty good without BL and aug evoker, i've seen SP priest do 10 M dps as well, just requires more setup than a Frost DK. And take into account this 5 m dps was not even fully optimized. I think its good that priest is not completley on the top tier, less prone for nerfs then.
It doesn't! It doesn't pull anything you're not in combat with. It had a beta bug where it pulled mobs 'fighting' each other for immersion etc, as technically they were classed as in combat, but this has now been fixed
You can! Archon is probably a tad better right now, but it's marginal, and that will only matter at the bleeding edge for people doing world first races or competing for the best mythic+ ratings. If you prefer voidweaver, absolutely play it! It's visually stunning and the audio of spells etc is insanely satisfying! And luckily archon is more fun than it seemed at face value, too

Haha I just wanted a slightly less boring intro and some gameplay as an example, not trying to flex. Myself and the mage were more or less even in that run until the second to last boss when we had one wipe and the tank left ^^
No one put a gun to your head to become a meta slave. Meet new people and push good keys with something else you wanna play or quiet down. If the meta was just one other class that wouldn’t ever change this SLAVE mentality.
This is only really a worry if you're talking about MDI level, 1% level kind of stuff for m+. Right now, affliction, sin rogue, unholy and frost dk, fury warrior are all looking great, just to name a few from the dps side of things. Blood DK and guardian druid doing nicely in terms of tanks, etc. Realistically, unless you're at that absolute elite level, you can play whatever you like. Infact that was the inspiration behind these two shadow priest videos I've made - this time a week or two ago, shadow was being branded as 'F tier' and unplayable, I wanted to showcase that's absolutely not the case. If you enjoy a spec and you put time into it, you can play it
@@BiteSizeWoW yes, but we all know how most of the ppl prefer aug over other dps because it's easier to complete a key in time, and unfortunately these people think that mdi combo is the best combo for every key starting from 2 the balance it also bad, i always want to play a dps , for this xpac maybe fire mage or boomkin, but who will invite me as a fire mage or boomkin?))) they prefer arcane or spriest or aug ofc and i always ended up as a healer(mostly resto druid) cuz it's more easier to get an invite maybe i'm overthinking and so on, but it looks like it's the same as it was in previous xpacs since bfa

I saw your last video and I agree with you on a lot of points but it’s mostly related to tuning, I’m talking about something deeper, our dots do no damage, our filler is 30% of our dps, we have to channel or cast almost everything so moving is horrible, our dps cd is a cast and extremely clunky, our spender does horrific damage. I mostly do PvP but playing until 1800 on the beta in solo shuffle was terrible compared to DF

@@BiteSizeWoW seems like a lot of casters are gimped besides ele and frost mage. SP imo one of the worst culprits because how many little instants we have, how unimportant our dots feel besides mastery proc, and no dispel protection besides a crap fear. Affi warlock does some good damage but they nerfed defenses so you can just get trained into the dirt with all your defenses popped still. Melee seems king, outlaw is oddly good, all warrior specs pump, WW is broken, resto sham is good, preserv evoke is really strong. Idk our damage profile needs to go back to how it was in DF and they need to make some talent swaps and changes for SP to be good
Not only is it good, but it feels really engaging and fun to play. Never mained Shadow Priest in a expansion, but this will be it.

Try the spymaster web trinket :D its not good for the first burst phase of a dungeon but after that and u can play with the stacks its huge

On shadow crash in the talent tree it's now a choice node, one is targeted one you position 😊
How do you think archon would play with dark ascension? Wouldn't dark ascension boost halos damage? And they're both 1 min cd so they always line up.

How much healing does shadow's archon halo do though? Might actually be very viable in a raid setting as a healing cooldown.
At around 3 mins 50 sec I cast it near stormwind dummies around other players and it does pretty significant healing

I actually prefer the void hero talent more. I prefer PvP. Archon will be great for smaller scale PvE and I’ll use the Void tree for PvP!

Shadow dmg is not best in dps. Affli lock def had you look sad. But shadow is really good cause of mid dmg + PI+ raid buff +mass dispell..
the last 3 expansions i play at the start they all say about affl lock but soon after they are always trash
