I've seen many people who started wearing pointe shoes just after two or three years of doing ballet. While I do agree that some places make girls start with pointe shoes before they are ready, I don't think it's a matter of time per se.
they literally said she was 10??
I danced 4 years before I got my first pair and 2 of those were in pre pointe
I started point after 1 month of dance, was that a bad choice since people start after a few years
@@heartsorecloud4032 did your dance instructors say you were ready if your like 9 and started a month ago no way. But still, One month?!? I started dance at 3, and now im 11, and still not getting pointe shoes until 12.
@@heartsorecloud4032 it was especially for the people who have worked hard for years and have long awaited that moment
I wanted to do ballet since I was 8 and my family just couldn't afford it. So the second I turned 16 I started paying for my own ballet classes and when I was 18 I got my first pair of pointe shoes. I worked so hard in such a short space of time to get my feet and ankles to where the needed to be, and the first time I stepped up onto pointe the inner child in me was beaming. It felt amazing! And still everytime I have a pointe classbu get so excited!
I’m so happy for you!
I’m so proud of you! You posted your comment a year ago so I’m guessing now your even better!
i got my first pair about a year and a half ago, i was definitely the over excited one haha. i may or may not have worn the shoes around my house all day.
AHAHA SAME MY FEET GOT SO SWEATY OOPS
i have no idea how u did that, my feet started to ache cause of being in them shoes too much 😭
I’m getting my first pair in a few days and this is definitely going to be me lol
everyone does that lol
im getting my first pair in like 2 months and im def going to wear them around the house 😂
Haha this is great
About the age thing- I've seen a bit of discourse in the comments, so I thought I'd try to help clear things up. In general, it's best to go on pointe *at least* at 11 or 12 years of age, because your feet often aren't developed enough before then (regardless of strength).
It's recommended you start pointe after 3 or 4 years of dancing, but that really depends on you and your strength. For example- I started ballet at 12, and I began pointe at the beginning of my third year dancing. However, I also did a TON of strengthening exercises on my own, and was quite older than some of the other dancers in my class.
TL;DR the amount of ballet experience and age vastly differs based on the individual person and their strength. In general you need a solid base of technique and muscle/joint strength to go on pointe.
I hv been dancing since I was 4 and now I’m 11, do you recommend point shoes for me?
@@Kuhuarora_ It all depends on your strength and technique level. Your teachers are the only ones who can really recommend pointe shoes for you.
But in terms of your actual foot growth and structure, it's probably safe for you by now? But I couldn't be sure.
@@starsupontheland thnx
In my studio we start pre-point at 12 and point at 13. Right now I am 11 and working on my point so my feet are ready next year
@@april.29 if you are ready for it then I think it is fine but if you are not then it could cause some damage
There's a girl in my class that is literally 11 years old and after one or two months of taking ballet classes she got her first pair of pointe shoes because the teacher needed people that got into her summer intensive. It was so sad, she couldn't even stand on one foot without bending her ankles :(
Now thats just sad, but I will say this I also got my point shoes before I was ready, 10 years old.
I’m still 10 but my birthday is in 4 days and i’ll be turning 11 so i’ll just say i’m 11.
But hey, I did ballet for 3 1/2 years already, so its a little better I mean a lot because I can go on to point perfectly.
But my age is still worrying.
i’m getting pointe shoes next year and i’ve been dancing for about 7 years. i don’t really think you should get pointe shoes if you haven’t been dancing for long tho.
@@Genshinlmao123 I'm an adult beginner and I got my pointe shoes around I don't know... 6 months ago? Yet we rarely do pointework. (Probably because our classes are still online)
This really makes me want to go on pointe. Makes me sad to know that it will probably never happen. I started Ballett when I was 19 last year and I love it but I have a chronically inflamed toe and even ballett slippers are living Hell for me on some days. It's still a nice dream to have, even knowing it is most likely never going to happen.
Practise makes perfect!! Trust the progression! :))
i feel like im never gonna go on pointe
Don't worry you will get there! Practice makes perfect, but don't expect it to be quick. Have patience, do prepointe exercises everyday, be determined and you will make it. The most important thing though, is to believe in yourself. I can't tell you how many times I cried over not getting my pointe shoes, I thought I wasn't good enough, weak, and a failure. I even considered quitting dance all together. But I stuck with it and now on my third year en pointe. I believe in you!
You will I promise! A girl in our class is 27, she started when she was 25, and now she’s en pointe even if the is the oldest in our class she still did it, if she can, YOU CAN TOO!
@@Cocomonster8 Tahk you, you are so sweet
My grandmother started pointe when she was 5 after 2 years of dancing. It was the late 40s and they didn't know better. Now she's had both knees replaced and four surgeries on her ankles. It varies from person to person, but NEVER go on pointe before you're at least 10.
Was about to say😅
So sad. At my old dance place where I first got pointe shoes they made sure you're at least 12 before going on pointe
is estern europe and russia esp in national ballet schools they still start at 9/10 but before that those kids have 20+ hours epof training every week
@@nikolajagaczewska5222 Yeah at any age below that no matter how much training they get, they shouldn’t go en pointe. The bones in their feet are nowhere near fully developed. It’s dangerous
@@artsforthestage i would say that even under 12 it can be pretty dangerous even with training but russian schooling methods are what they are and because of competition in ballet world they start asap
Was anyone else watching this and thinking, 'Ooh! How would Josephine at The Pointe Shop respond if she saw this?' I have a feeling she'd get a kick out of it! I sure did, and I'm not even a dancer!
I am also a pointe shoe fitter and I can assure you, this skit is TOO ACCURATE.
Aye, well, she reacted to it now!
@@btjhlp I know! I was so happy when she did. :-D :-D :-D
ikr
she did!
If I was any of these I was probably the one who shouldn't have been on pointe.
I danced for seven years before going on pointe and did pre-pointe for two or three years too, but I was also 11 when I started pointe and I don't think my bones were done growing. My studio went through 3 or 4 ballet teachers during the time I was en pointe and I think after the first couple of years or so, I probably needed to be fitted again (read: properly). In the end, I quit pointe this year after six years of frustration, pain, little progress, and wrecked self esteem and I don't like to say that it was the best decision I ever made but it was. But I'm okay with it cause I can finally do class without hating myself and I have plenty of other dance styles I love too.
1:45 hit close to home... I'm in adult classes, and some of my older classmates got promoted to pointe less than a year after starting ballet when they can't even point their feet or go over their boxes, they keep their knees bent, and they don't know how to follow the music...
So funny story I was an Irish dancer for 7 years and recently quit last year. Our hard shoes have a block in them very similar to point shoes just not as much arch support. I went to my friend’s ballet class and decided to join in on a class just for fun. I don’t think anyone there believed me that it was my first time dancing 😂
My niece was so excited to start pointe! She took her shoes everywhere. Even on vacation! She loved our house because we had wood floors.
TEN YEARS OLD😭😭😭 I went on pointe at 14 turning 15😭😭😭😭 I wasn’t terrible at it but I obviously wasn’t amazing lol. I loved it and I miss it sm haha
I’m 16 and going on pointe in a few months. I started ballet when I was nearly 15😭
fr i got my pointe shoes at 12 😭
Your turns are so pretty and amazing!! I can’t even do a triple yet...
I can barely even do a double 😅
@@makennah5474 It's fine, I *just* learned how to do one!
As I'm going to.get my pointe shoes soon, i feel like I'm already going to be the overly excited one 🙃
Also, I love your videos Mackenzie:)
Me too!
When I got mine for the first time I was defintley the over excited one
when i got my first pair i think i was definitely the overly excited one, but then i got my first blister and my toes died. but i still love my pointe shoes! they’re painful but pretty
Good Luck!
I get mine in 2 years but I want the NOW
I actually got my first pointe shoes a year ago today. 😅 the timing lol. I was definitely the overly excited one lol
I got mine after 2 1/2 years and I was overly ready, all my fitters have complimented how strong and flexible my feet are. I'm already doing fouttes and other advanced steps without too much difficulty. but maybe I'm a rare case
so I'm basicly the prodigy 😂
major pick me vibes rn
@@unknown9261 how, its not bad to take pride in good talent. this person is obviously very talented and strong! it really doesnt hurt to congratulate people who have already gone really far.
fouettés * 😂😂
My friend so excited…a year before we got them. She watched videos of how they made them and learned all about them.
The two years thing is sooo relatable. I danced for 2 years, went on pointe, Covid bit, and then switched to a hardcore ballet studio and have been only doing pointe for 1.5 years and have caught up to the girls at McKenzie’s level and advanced. It’s really just about hard work and the right training
This inspires me so much, as I started when I was 15 and I’m 16 now so I feel like I’m running out of time
haha sooooo accurate. When I got my first pointe shoes I died was so excited. OMG I love your arches you have such control and you have lovely alignment.
I first went on pinte in March, and now I am actually doing waltz of the flowers in my studios nutcracker. I am so excited
Congrats!!
omg lol i’m doing the exact same. except june instead of march 🤷♀️
I’m gonna be honest I’m probably a combination of everything 😂
I’ve got the arch feet making anything look good, I only was at the ballet based studio for a year before starting (prior my studio wasn’t very ballet based so I probably wasn’t the best technique wise), and I definitely was excited since I thought because I didn’t go to the studio until later I’d have to start pointe later even though I was in my age group which was going on pointe the next year which would have been a year or two before the other studio if I remember correctly! Anyways it’s been since September of 2016 since my very first fitting so this is season 5 I believe being en pointe!
LMFAO the one that starts doing full classwork is hilarious thats me LMFAOOOOO
I got my first pair of pointe shoes 2 days ago and let me tell you I am the over excited one... I've been wearing them around the house quite a bit lol but I'm worried I'm going to wear them out too fast 😭
Girl you nailed it.I danced professionally and taught for numerous years and this is how it goes.Cute skit.
I’ve been dancing for about 7 years and I’m excited for when I finally do get my pointe shoes! ☺️☺️
omg i’m excited for u lol!
I've danced since I was 3 (10 years) and I got mine about two weeks ago. I love them
There's plenty of dancers who get on pointe faster than recommended, whether it was in less than a year or 2. In my opinion, getting on pointe is a matter of dedication, strength and skill. The amount of effort you put in dancing and reaching your goal. Of course, even time too.
Yeah I’m starting point soon and I’ve danced for less than two years, but I’m 16. So being a late starter it’s kinda important for me to get on pointe as soon as I can
i know many people who started even after less than a year but most did some type of other sports before and a ton of excersise at home
Right?! I stayed in January I’ve been doing 4 classes a week while stretching /conditioning 6 days a week
I agree, a lot of people just think dancing for 5 years is a magic number but you could be spending those 5 years not doing a lot of ballet and be as ready has someone who has been dancing for 1 year and has put a lot of effort and strength into their training.
And that’s why I started with pointe shoes, when I was 12 years old. My ballet school focused on how strong you are and if the foot is ready.
I am a ballerina/ professional dancer now and my technique is really good. I always thank my teachers that I had, when I was younger, because they actually cared. 💖✨Your video was awesome, I was the excited one combined with the last one, because for me it was easy to get used to them and my feet were already strong enough. (Pointe shoes also never hurt me and I had never had blisters) 💖🙃
I started ballet when I was 4 years old and next year it is 17 years doing ballet. ✨💖I still love it and I am really passionate about it.
During quarantine I could not do it often and that got me depressed. After that, I realized how important it is for me and my mental health. 🥺💖
I got my first pointe shoes 4 weeks ago I love your videos and this skit was so funny XD 🩰🎀✨👏
I started ballet at 3, I will be going on point in my next grade and I’m super excited!!!
I started ballet around the age of 13 because my younger sister who is 2 years younger than me was also dancing ballet and had been doing so since she was around 6, I started a ballet class with people at the same skill level and age as me and my sister was also attending the class to just learn the basics again so she doesn’t forget, after half a year one of the girl named Karen (yes Karen) had bought pointe shoes of off wish…. and she was definitely not ready for pointe at all, me and my sister already knew about how dangerous it is and how strong you have to be because she had been dancing on pointe for almost a year then (most of the year was on barre), our teacher also looked so uncomfortable because he didn’t know how to tell her she shouldn’t be doing that.
I got my first pair of pointe shoes about a week ago and I was the overly excited one and almost started crying because it's been my goal to get pointe shoes for a year. lol
I got my first ever pointe shoe fitting today! I'll be 12 in 2 months and I've been dancing ballet for 10 years. If I had a character, it would be the super shy one who can't figure out how to describe how each shoe feels 🩰
i'm getting my pointe shoe in august and my birthday (turning 12) will be in 2 months from them... similar to you. this comment reminds me of me 😄
Omg I'm literally setting up my appointment to get fitted for my first pair of pointe shoes!!! I'm literally SO excited I've been dancing since I was 3, and I am trained, omgg I'm so excited!!! :)))
I always smelled my new pointe shoes, like smelling a new book at Christmas…..🤩
That literally was my dream *forever* lol I´m dancing ballet since almost 10 years now and got my first pair of pointe shoes in November :) But at the same time I was like the best at pointe from the beginning because I did ballet for the longest time and trained everyday for months on demi pointe lol
I started dance when I was 7 (or 8 I can't remember) but it was only half an hour after school once a week the other half was for tap. But I only really started to seriously do ballet in summer of 2019 and the I dance for about a year and the we shut down, after about a month or two of private lessons I asked my teacher about the timeline of me getting point shoes and she said I could get them the same week!!!!! I was so excited, I've been on Pointe for a year and go through shoes every two months, like I don't want to toot my own horn but I'm pretty solid on my shoes. Theirs these two girls in my class who shouldn't have them though. One of them isn't that good and has been dancing for years longer then me but I got mine first. She complained about not having Pointe shoes but then after she got them she never wore them, complained that they hurt etc. And other girl just isn't that strong, like she's pretty wobbly on her shoes
YALL IM SORRY BUT I DIED ON THE TENDU-
So I just got my first pair of pointe shoes and I am really excited to do stuff with them. Love your videos.
This was fun!! Missed seeing your videos, but I'm sure you're busy adjusting to your new life in a new city and in the company. So fun, watching your journey. ❤ from Delaware
I just got my first pointe shoes last month, (12 year old here), and tbh every girl in my class was the same. People were just nervously practicing one bar, including me. What was funny was that now, even though our teacher said not to, everyone does random crap in centre when she’s not looking that she told us we would be able to do for a long time. It’s funny how she underestimated us. What really got me though was that girls who had only been doing ballet for around a year and a half were allowed on pointe. They’re ok at the moment, but once one of them actually did a releve in centre and then attempted to lift her leg, it was all good and well ‘til she tried plie’ing WHILE lifting her leg. Her shoe got caught in the stocking and she hurt herself REALLL bad💀
ahhhh this is so funnyyy and accurate. i’m actually getting my first pair of pointe shoes this December so i’m sooo excited luv u kenzie 💕💕
If you do a part two you can have the girl who's impossible to fit. Like they try a ton of shoes but none of them work
that was me haha, my second pair took me 1hr and 45 min to find shoes that fit
Imm getting my pointe shoes in 2 weeks so this vid is honestly perfect for me🤣🤣🤣
I’m probably going on pointe in a few months, I’m so excited aghhh
My ballet teacher owns a sock basket and will personally fit you herself which is really good because she knows exactly what you need already
I actually got my third pair the day before yesterday! Funny 😌
I’m getting my pointe shoes in about 3 weeks, any tips from other ballerinas?
This is making me so excited, I can’t wait to take pre point classes omg!
Wowww. Amazing technique!!!
Omg your amazing at pointe
i was the overly excited one when i got my first pair and then ended up hating pointe😂
I was so excited when I got mine lol
I got my first pair in May I was definitely over exited 😂
I just want to say thankyou for all theese comments, theyre really motivating me to reach my dreams!! Ballet is my dream and im always told im to old to start it :D
*My dance teacher who convinced me to get pointe shoes after only a year of dancing: 😶😶*
I’m 11 and have been dancing for 7 years. I just got my first pair yesterday. I love them!
I'm only been doing ballet for 2 years but I've had other dance training but I'm getting my first pair this week
I’m doing ballet I love it but I just don”t really know how you know if your ready but still love ballet and your videos🩰😊😕
I just got my pointe shoes today 🎉 and I am DEFINITELY the first one, I could not stop smiling! 😂 love this channel :)
You have great control to be able to not full pointe without hurting yourself! This was adorbs.
i recently got my point shoes after doing ballet my whole life!
I get I get pointe shoes next year I'm so excited for itttt
You dance really well!
The prodigy girl cracked me up
Lol love the last one it is funny how she is like how she do this omg
I stopped ballet for 2 years I think and I’ve done ballet for 5 years and they said in 2 years I can go on pointe since I still remember how to do steps correctly!!
I've been on pointe for almost three years and I feel like I still look like the second one. Yesterday I was sewing my pointe shoes and I broke 2 needles in half 🤣
ive been doing ballet for ten years and just got my first pair of pointe shoes
1:36 omg I love ur sweater wheres it fromm ❤️❤️ great vid btwww
I got my first pointe shoes when I was like 11 and I had been dancing at that point only one and a half years so it was pretty early but I loved my pointe shoes!
i got pointe shoes when i was 10, and i had been dancing for about 4 years! we only did short pointe classes and stuff at first, though. i had a hard time finding shoes that fit me because i was veryyy small for my age (still am lol) i struggled a lot a first, but i’m a lot better now! still not the best, but i can’t believe i’ve been en pointe for 4 years already!!
Bro you were literally me, short Pointe classes, I’m very small for my age, and I struggled a lot too..
@@Genshinlmao123 yeah, i feel like i know a lot of people who were in the same boat!! glad to know i’m not alone haha
Omg your voice is so cute, you give me chills
U should do a part 2 this was funny! The overly excited one would be me but even worse 😂
I’m on my journey to pointe and I am so mad at myself for stopping last year- now i have to reset and do it all over again 😭
i love ur videos!! So pretty! I get to do my first dance on pointe this year!
Love this skit! pls part 2
i got my first pair of pointe shoes at 13 years old, during my 6th year of doing ballet. still my feet weren’t really as strong but i am doing much better now
I just started my first pointe class ever today!
im getting my first pointe shoes tomorrow at 19 :)
I’m getting my pointe shoes tomorrow! I have been dancing for 6 years and I thought they were awesome even before I started ballet. I am SO excited!!!!
You make pointe look so easy!😍
I really wanna try ballet and go on pointe after a year or two and I am a quick learner and quite strong(not sure about my feet though) but I am not flexible whatsoever so I have also wanted to try gymnastics but I am already 12 so I feel like my age and inflexibility will hold me back.
I remember getting my first pair of pointe shoes!!! I can't believe how long it's been!!!!
I love your videos!✨
I'm getting mine next week!!!!!!!!!! so exciting
I have a quick question I’m 12 and about to start ballet lessons will I be with a bunch of 5 year olds since I have 0 experience or any training
my whole class including me just got put on pointe and in 6 days we have our first lesson, can already guess which ones me and my classmates are gonna be lol
So true!
im def the excited girl
Yea I started with my good dance teacher when i was 6/7 and got my pointe shoes with i was 10 going onto 11
I’ve seen people able to go on point after a year, they all took several ballet and pre point classes per week and most were over 12 years old.
Yeah I’ve been doing ballet a year and a half and I’m going on pointe in two months, but I’m already 16 so
@@lilypoppy3388I’m 14 and I’ve been dancing for 8 months and I’m en pointe. My ballet teacher is making it as safe as possible though! Mostly just strength building
I can say when I first got fitted I definitely looked like 3:25 lol. By my second time I tried to go on pointe during an actual class, I did so much better
She looks like Max from stranger things 🤗
It’s my second year for pointe ☺️
I am getting my pointe shoes in Jan and I will definetly be the over excited one! Love your vids Mack!😀
I’m on grade 2 ballet and I tried on my dads friend point shoes that were 3 sizes too small, they fit like a glove and were so comfortable but somehow I had the ankle strength to stand up and tiptoe around in them? I’m genuinely confused because that was my first time on point (yes I know it’s dangerous)
I was about to go on point but quit because I was doing a bunch of other things (violin, horseback riding, soccer) and it was either those or dance so I chose to do something I had a little more passion for BUT if dance is your dream, then pursue it ❤️
I got my pointe shoes in august this year, it's so much fun.
im getting into ballet again, i had stopped for about 2 years because my ballet studio closed down right after i got a scholarship. i’m trying to figure out what sport im into now since i’m and middle school and usually then you seem to get into more sports. i’m the average age for pointe shoes so i’ve been practicing at home so eventually when my mom and me do find a studio i can prove my legs are strong enough and fit for pointe shoes.
