Honestly this is so accurate. I dance and I can't throw or catch a ball but I get asked to do the splits or if I do anything that is mildly fexible people are astounded. I really related to this. Thankyou for the video! XX
Something that always happens is that all of my teachers did ballet- EVEY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! One day I was doing releves in the hallway and my teacher came out and she asked me if I was en pointe yet and we had a whole conversation about dance which was pretty cool!
It’s always amusing to me how impressed non-dancers are when they see a dancer do the splits, because it’s basically a required skill in dance and you forget not everyone can do them 😂
literally lol! like i can't even remember what it's like to not be able to do basic stretches like touching your toes and doing the splits. it's so easy for us lmao 😭
This used to happen to me alot aswell, I think people just find it incredible to see somebody more flexible than them do something they can't do. Any sport that requires flexibility goes with the people who ask to show them the splits
The good old sit n reach flexibility box test where it wasn't long enough! Hahaha. I'm an exercise science major in college and when we were learning how to administer flexibility tests last year, we had to practice on each other. I definitely related to this.
Gym teacher: Okay, stand on the bench and reach as far past your toes as you can without bending your knees. Me: Standing on the bench, unable to even reach my toes without bending my knees. What is flexibility? Where can i buy some? For most stretches, i couldn't even get into the starting position because i was already stretching.
I did ballet in elementary school, this video brings back so many memories! I hated running/walking laps every Wednesday (I remember spinning around and trying to do jetes to make it more fun) and doing basketball or tag. I did some sort of test where you had to do as many sit-ups as you can and I think I got to 50 ish because we did them in ballet! There was some sort of exercise that our PE teacher would make us do where you had to jump with you legs apart and then jump with the legs together and I would always do echappes for that lol
Recently, my teacher at school told us to dance something similar to Kpop dance and it is very awkward and hard for me as a ballet dancer. Whenever I do those dance steps, I dance like a robot which is terrible. Really love this video!💕💕
Omg....the stretching and the splits!!! I remember those gym class days... Ugh! The running 😩 I didn't mind volleyball though. Of course I was always the most flexible! (Cue the pointing and stares) This literally still happens to me.....I turned 50 this year! My niece's friends are always asking me to drop into a split for them or "Aunt Val, put your foot behind your head!" 🙄 Again... Someone will walk into the room on Christmas and my 13 year old son and I are sitting there both with a foot behind our heads and a handful of teenagers (most of them top BMX athletes lol) are trying to touch their toes unsuccessfully. It's quite the site, especially when the old lady in the room hops up and puts her palms flat on the floor 😂!
I did that to my middle son's wrestling teammates at one meet. They had a break and a bunch were on a corner of a mat stretching and stuff. Well the boys bend over to touch their toes and bent their knees, my kid included, so I went on the mat and asked them what they were doing. They replied that they were stretching. I did razz them a bit about bending their knees and how they weren't going to get much of a stretch that way. Then I said something along the lines about a good stretch is like this...and bent over, knees straight, and touched not quite my palms, but the backs of my fingers and a little bit past the base knuckles of my hands. No previous stretch, I came straight from the bleachers to the mat The looks on those high school boys faces was priceless and the looks from some of the parents was like, " You show them how it's done, girl!". 😆
I am not a dancer, but a contortionist. So the stretches are soooooooo easy for me plus my gym teacher loves me cause I have opted swimming and yoga. I legit pass my fitness tests with flying colours. This is so relatable😂✨
As a girl in middle school currently I can confirm this is me at school. It's so awkward because none of my school friends do dance so they can't relate to me. The most accurate one for me was always having the pointed toes, it's just instinct at this point.
I’m not even a dancer (I’m a gymnast) but I can relate to pretty much all of these 😂 the flexibility, sucking at other sports, essays (about gymnastics), leaving school early for meets, etc. I’ve also had people tell me to “prove” that I can do a backflip lol I’ve even had people tell me to teach them how to do one
I soooo hated gym class! It was the most stressful thing at school for me. I hated playing volleyball (which we did like 90% of the time) and other games, I hated everything apart from gymnastics. I had all Cs and two A+s for flexibility and cheer competitions 😅
I do dance and theatre and I had a dress rehearsal for a play and I was a fairy. I had sparkles and makeup and rhinestones stuck to my face, and right after the dress rehearsal I had my first basketball practice and I literally showed up with a full face of makeup and glitter everywhere and I was like 9 😂 I was embarrassed but now it's just kinda funny
This reminds me of how glad I am that I was homeschooled. And also makes me think of the one time I went to church camp, was thrown into a game of softball (which I just had to google to make sure I was saying the right sport) and everyone was shocked I didn't know any of the rules or what the heck I was supposed to be doing. Nor did I really care.
Hey Mackenzie!!! This is just soooo relatable! These have all happened to me, and also, while we had PE, our teacher made us do the pike stretch, I mean stand up and reach your toes, and all my classmates looked at me so amazed. They couldn't believe how further I would go😂😂
I'm one of the most flexible dancers on my team and tbh whenever we are stretching I always don't go as far as I normally would because I hate when people stare and say things like "omg how do you do that?"
In gym class part of our dynamic warmup is skipping. Because I’ve done skipping like how we do it in ballet all my life, I literally cannot skip like any other person. So I go across the gym with pointed toes and hands on my waist. 🤣
When we play sports in gym everyone will yell at me because 1, I stink at EVERYTHING except dance and 2, because I don’t wanna try because of number 1 lol
My classmates knew I'm a dancer and they told our teacher about that, at the end of the school year, the teacher asked me to perform in front of the entire class and recorded it. I was wearing a uniform dress and dying inside. The most embarrassing moment in my life. I still cringe when I think about that.
it was odd with my sister because she was the teachers pet with everything... especially in gym class. at the beginning of gym class she would randomly do pirouettes and the gym teacher would try and spin and end up on the floor lol! im a dancer and personally I do all of these things... 😂
Absolutely relatable!!! I remember pointing my feet and staying turned out for all gym jumps, hated ball related sports, only loving the gymnastics part, all that jazz! Although I do like running for some reason hmm
One time my brother was at his baseball practice and I was doing stretches with them and I was astounded that the stretches they were doing we’re so simple I was like we’re not even going to stretch our splits?
I totally understand this! Everything was true for me other than the 2nd one and the last one. Only because my school doesn't have flexiblity tests and I don't do competion dance
Honestly this is soooo true I’m a dancer, singer and actress and when I need to leave early for rehearsal everyone is like “why do you need to leave for a stupid rehearsal can’t you miss it?!” Like nobody understands!
Way, way back when I was a freshman in high school we did a section where the girls and guys were mixed and did two classes with the two P.E. teachers, a woman and a man. The woman P.E. coach taught the section on volleyball and the man P.E. teacher taught the section on gymnastics. Now by that time I had been doing ballet for 7 & 1/2 years and gymnastics for 6 & 1/2 years. The group I was in did volleyball first. I can play it but it isn't a favorite. One classmate would rag on me and say things like how I wasn't a great player and that I just didn't know anything. Then they said, "Just wait til we get to gymnastics, I'll show you how it's done." to which I was basically like, "Ok, whatever." The first day of the gymnastics the coach was showing how to do a basic somersault. I thought it was pretty entertaining 🙂. The classmate that picked on me was surprised when I did a better somersault than they did. I then heard a friend, and fellow classmate proceed to tell the other one, with a bit of exaggeration, how I had better know how to do a somersault since I had been doing gymnastics for 10 years (my friend later told me about their conversation and that they just had to do that little dig). That was a Friday class, by the following Monday, the first classmate came to class with a doctor's note excusing them from the gymnastics class. Meanwhile two other classmates and myself had a grand time since we 3 had taken gymnastics classes and did all 3 weeks worth of routines in 3 days plus 2 extra routines that the coach had to come up with until he finally told us 3 that we could do whatever we wanted as long as it was gymnastics related. That was my most favorite 3 weeks class and it passed away too fast 😎
This is the most accurate thing I’ve seen on RUclips. Literally last week so many people asked why I had makeup on and my friend asked why we needed costumes..
So accurate because I literally cannot go one day without someone in school asking me to show them how to do a split and when i stretch in gym i always throw in my own stretches cuz the stretches they give us don’t warm u up
I remember once we were in class and a friend and I (both of us were able to do the splits) started doing a competition on who would last longer. We stayed there around 30 minutes until she had to leave. We recieved a whole class line that.
Omg can relate to so many of these! One question I get after I tell someone I just had a dance competition is: “did you win?” Clearly they know nothing.
I’ve done dance for 9 years, and this is very accurate. I don’t do ballet but I understand most of these because whenever I say I do dance people always assume I do ballet. One thing you forgot is getting weird stares when you’re casually balancing on one foot in gym class. I absolutely love your videos!!!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Honestly everything is so accurate BUT one thing that’s prob just specifically me is getting annoyed when people come up to me and are like “TEAHC ME A PIROUETTE” and then they proceed to not follow what I’m saying and just run in a circle or when my friends get mad at me for correcting them when they asked to learn- one time this girl in my class came up to me and said “hOw aRE mY tUrNS” and she proceeded to do fouettés without any turnout or spotting and I DIED

Work on flexibility and conditioning at home it will make all the difference! Try to stretch at least 10 minutes every day. Always mark the combos as the teacher gives them to you it helps with memory. Also try not to be too hard on yourself everyone there is more concerned with their own dancing. Nerves are normal but just think of how close you are to starting your dance journey! Don’t forget to breath while you dance. I hope you enjoy your classes!
@@sarahjohnson6407 oh ty so much with your tips i actually have been stretching and i have my splits and i am trying to get my middle splits and tilt I know some acro tricks too! But what do you mean on the marking things as I am starting dance late and I am a bit confused on some of those things!
@@LLeonor23 Marking means when you do the steps but not full out like you may just do all the movements with your arms, some people they mark they turns by turning their finger and the rest with their forearms and hands.
This is so accurate I do ballet and I have learned to be flexible from a young age and everyone calls me a show off just because I am used to stretching so much that it seems weird if I don’t.
These are so accurately hilarious. Except for the running, even as a competitive dancer I was running everyday even in grade school just because I loved it. Also the skip one class thing was if I don’t go to class I get cut from my position. I never had time to get in trouble in school because I was always practicing or performing, lol. Great video
So accurate! I do contemporary and some of my friends do their ruitines that aren’t on the floor and ask me to do mine and I’m like, the floor is literally concrete I can NOT do that, plus I’m wearing sneakers😂
I’ve nearly been dancing a year (I started doing contemporary dance with my school) and I’m not particularly flexible yet but I can relate to some of these defiantly
I’ve been doing rhythmic gymnastics my whole life and apparently dancers go through the same stuff we do! Specially the “can’t you skip a lesson?” Is like… No, obviously no :V. And the makeup thing Jajajajjaja. So relatable
The having left over make up on after a performance is so relatable. I do theater and used to do dance and kids would always ask if I was really wearing make up
The running one omg!!! My dance teacher when I was in 7th grade was so against running she wrote us all notes saying we couldn't participate 😂 I was so grateful Also for a competition one time (5th grade I think) we had to slick our hair back with a specific kind of gel and I was so tired I forgot to take a shower so the next day I went to school and the gel was kinda flakey And this girl whispers to me "don't worry, I have dandruff too! But it's embarrassing so don't tell the boys."
@@LynnMujie running is high impact and if you do it on certain places (like concrete) too much it can really damage your joints At least that's what she told us 😂 I have no idea if there's medical knowledge behind that or not
OMG!!! I relate to so much of these. I am not a dancer but a figure skater. It is so irritating when they think that dance/skating is not hard at all. They say something like: Ohh, don't you just streach a little bit and skate/run a little bit around?! Soooooooooooooo irrirating!
These are so accurate, especially the one about makeup, because I have never been able to get off eyeliner and I've been trying for almost 8 years. Now, I just don't wear any when I perform
I was amazed when I did a SIMPLE cartwheel in p.e and people were telling me to do it again as if I had just done something so worthy of a standing ovation.
Yes this is 100% true! I’ve done dance since I was about 4 like you and one other thing that has happened to me was I was writing an essay about a timeline of my life so I was writing about when I started ballet and acro and my first competitions, ect. and my teacher literally took off points and said maybe explain what acro is bc not every one knows what that means or anything like coupè and other ballet moves and it’s soooo annoying.
I dance and literally everything about the competitions is so accurate and also people asking about point shoes. Thank you so much for this amazing video I really enjoyed it.
Dead-serious fourth grade in the middle of class slid into a split during snack time because I was an absolute flexibility show-off during 4th-6th grade.
As I dancer I can totally relate. I’ve been dancing my whole life and people just don’t understand the “science” behind dancing en pointe 😭 and like explaining stage lights and recitals and stuff is so hard 😭😭😭
Honestly this is so accurate. I dance and I can't throw or catch a ball but I get asked to do the splits or if I do anything that is mildly fexible people are astounded. I really related to this. Thankyou for the video! XX

@@funniebreadie498 Ohhh thank you for telling me I was confused!!
Don’t worry, if it’s your first dance class then it probably won’t be way above your skill level! What style are you doing?
This is so accurate I do ballet and I have learned to be flexible from a young age and everyone calls me a show off just because I am used to stretching so much that it seems weird if I don’t.
STOP THE STRECHING IN GYM CALLED ME OUT
These are so accurately hilarious. Except for the running, even as a competitive dancer I was running everyday even in grade school just because I loved it.
Also the skip one class thing was if I don’t go to class I get cut from my position. I never had time to get in trouble in school because I was always practicing or performing, lol.
Great video
lol i thought it was today
@@d3arzx LOL!!!!!
I’ve never seen a more relatable video before! Wonderful job!!
So accurate! I do contemporary and some of my friends do their ruitines that aren’t on the floor and ask me to do mine and I’m like, the floor is literally concrete I can NOT do that, plus I’m wearing sneakers😂
I can relate to all of these! Especially people asking me to do splits and things, and leaving early for a comp!
THE WRITING ONE 😭😭I literally try and squeeze it into every assignment
The gym class and essay writing ones are so accurate!
The first part is so relatable. I always need to modify my stretches otherwise they're too easy
Omg I can relate to all of those! Especially the flexibility and makeup one
The having left over make up on after a performance is so relatable. I do theater and used to do dance and kids would always ask if I was really wearing make up
The running one omg!!! My dance teacher when I was in 7th grade was so against running she wrote us all notes saying we couldn't participate 😂 I was so grateful
Also for a competition one time (5th grade I think) we had to slick our hair back with a specific kind of gel and I was so tired I forgot to take a shower so the next day I went to school and the gel was kinda flakey
And this girl whispers to me "don't worry, I have dandruff too! But it's embarrassing so don't tell the boys."
Can I ask why your teacher was against running? That's kind of cool, cause I dislike running
@@LynnMujie running is high impact and if you do it on certain places (like concrete) too much it can really damage your joints
At least that's what she told us 😂 I have no idea if there's medical knowledge behind that or not
I love watching your dance videos they are so accurate. As a dancer myself this is so much fun to watch.
8:55 hits different. There was somethin about people always asking that and feeling so cool.
its SO relatable. im not a dancer but i do competitive cheer and its practically the same experience
Lol I will admit that I am the kids that do basketball during pe class and like it. Also the basketball moves were fire lol 🔥
OMG!!! I relate to so much of these. I am not a dancer but a figure skater. It is so irritating when they think that dance/skating is not hard at all. They say something like: Ohh, don't you just streach a little bit and skate/run a little bit around?! Soooooooooooooo irrirating!
WHEN SHE STARTED JUMPING. 1:57. I cannot relate more bc my class just HAS to make it dramatic.
Omg so relatable! Especially the not being able to hang out one and the gym one
These are so accurate, especially the one about makeup, because I have never been able to get off eyeliner and I've been trying for almost 8 years. Now, I just don't wear any when I perform
The hand gestures killed me when you were explaining pointe shoes
I was amazed when I did a SIMPLE cartwheel in p.e and people were telling me to do it again as if I had just done something so worthy of a standing ovation.
Omg all of this is so relatable! We’re even doing the basketball unit now 😂
Yes this is 100% true!
"Everyone just gets mad at me anyways because I don't really care about being good a basketball." That really hit home for me-
Gurl the one about the essay litterally happened twice, so relatable😂 I love yur videos!
OMG! SO RELATABLE! IVE BEEN DANCING SINCE I WAS THREE!!! I GET IT!!!!!
Sammee
I can relate to absolutely ALL of these!!! Especially the basketball unit one 😂
I relate to many of these except for the writing essays because that was the ONE thing saving me from becoming “that girl”
