How can anyone deny that adorable baby? It’s great y’all are able to find “pet-friendly” hotels, as it’s a difficult task here in America. It’s more of “pets allowed” w/ the annoying fees. Restaurants…maybe Gulf-Coast outdoor, but that’s about it, sadly. My daughter and her husband like to travel, so we take turns watching the grand-puppies, or their local (new and nicer) daycare/boarder. Funny this video popped-up, as my daughter is texting me back and forth while I try to finish this comment. She’s in WA state, until next Saturday, at a business conference, and is missing her (as she calls them) “floofs.” May you never have to be away from Wylie! I love watching y’all’s videos, as Wylie reminds me of my sweet Sophie! Travel safe, y’all! xxx

We are going to stay in another Kimpton hotel soon which is very dog friendly so we are looking forward to that before we head back to Japan. I always thought the US was pretty dog friendly but I hear more and more stories lately that it's not so much. We were considering taking Wylie to the US as it's relatively easy to get him across on the US airlines from Japan. But if it's a bit tough to find places to go with him we maybe give it miss.

@@WylieWestie Honestly, even though I love my country, especially Alabama, we’ve got a lot of problems right now. Illegal immigration has/is making our country dangerous. Hopefully, we won’t experience voter fraud again, and a new administration will stop this crazinesss. I hope y’all will visit when this nonsense stops. Avoid big cities, though. Alabama’s Gulf coast is beautiful, especially Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. White, sandy beaches w/ beautiful emerald water. It’s “pet friendly” w/ many dog parks, dog friendly restaurants, too. West Florida, Smokie Mountains, Charleston: They’re worth a shot, as well. Just do your research before traveling here, When you decide, I’d be more than happy to help you, as I closely keep-up w/ our political climate. But for now, enjoy safer countries. Y’all are wonderful people, wonderful parents to Wylie and your safety and enjoyment is important to me, too. God bless you on your travels! xxx

It much easier in the UK now for pet friendly. We used to take our dog everywhere with us. On the whole he was well behaved. But let’s face it they are family, and we would not leave him at home. Try to keep them off the bed good luck with that one. 🐶💕🐾

haha exactly, every morning without fail around 6am he jumps up on the bed and no matter what we can't stop him (nor do we want to). Only problem is when the bed is too high to jump up and he just then sits and whinges until we pick him up

My sentiments exactly. I’ve been in places where little humans have left a mess all over the place and the adult humans have allowed it and no apologies to the staff. 🤬😳🫣

Ugh this sucks, I hate it so much. Then on planes too and people complain about dogs on planes but the little kids are just horrid most of the time. I saw one thing on Instagram and most parents said they'd prefer to be sat next to a dog than their own kids

All my children and grand babies and my puppers were all raised to be respectful. It seems we are punished for others' lack of respect for others' property.

Hello! Unfortunately we haven’t stayed at any pet friendly hotels in Tokyo since we have our own place there so we don’t really have any recommendations 😩 but in our experience affordable and pet friendly don’t go together in Japan 😩

As someone who works in a hotel I have to say that the puppers who don't significantly leave a larger mess (of the kind that requires either deep cleaning to protect future guests that might have allergies and/or throwing away the sheets because, let's face it, most puppers don't wear shoes and enjoy frequent romps through the park) than humans (yes, including humans with kiddos) are the exception to the rule. There's literally no way to prove to the hotel that you are some super exception to the rule until after you've left because that's when the discovery happens. And while hotels often include "if you violate this or that rule there will be a penalty fee" in their check in literature, the biggest rule in hospitality is to avoid conflict with guests--don't make enemies, bend over backwards to avoid getting negative reviews. Being pet friendly is a huge risk for hotels to take. If you defend a boundary with a guest who takes advantage and they leave a horrible review, it will cause other pet parents to question whether your hotel is a good place for their fur baby. The deep cleaning happens after the pet leaves. The larger fees are generally to set a little aside for when there's a pet who trashes the place because they have to reeeeeaaaally trash it to make charging the guest replacement fees worth it, and also to help mitigate the costs from service animals but yes I'm sure there are places that just take advantage. (We had a pet parent take their babies through the national parks, then brought them back, bathed them in the Jacuzzi tub, and still there were muddy paw prints all over the carpets and the sheets had to be thrown out. They were charged our standard $30 pet fee for the stay and that was it.) While I agree, a well-behaved fur baby is more frequently seen and is better behaved than the most well-behaved human children, unfortunately it is simply not accurate to say that fur babies are in general cleaner than human children. (My furry guests are my favorite guests nevertheless!) I suppose I'm only really taking the time to write this out because it's a little heartbreaking to me that anyone would say that because we charge a pet fee we shouldn't be allowed to call ourselves pet friendly. We bend over backwards to accommodate our furry guests and we endure a lot of (literally at times) crap in order to do so. If we didn't charge a fee, we wouldn't be able to afford to let them stay. That's the bottom line.

I do agree with some of your comments, but in the whole most of your comments can be true for both humans and dogs. We also run a number of Air BnB's and the states that many humans leave the place is disgusting, (ruined blood stained sheets is a very common one). Yet, you don't know which ones will be messy and which ones will be super clean. That's obviously just a risk you take when accepting bookings for every single guest and that is factored into the room rates for cleaning already. There's always going to be exceptions and there's always going to be disgusting guests either human or furry.
At the end of the day, you don't know who is going to leave a mess. If a human leaves the place a tip you don't charge them any extra so why should you charge extra for a pet just because they "might" make a mess? By all means charge after if they do make a mess but charging because they might, I just don't agree with it at all.
Plus, there's plenty of hotels who don't charge extra fees, so if it's a toss up between two hotels, I know which one I'll choose every time.
