The musicianship in this, and all of Arjen's projects is just absolutely out of this world (no pun intended). Cannot wait to get my hands on this new album when it comes out!
Me too. I plan to preorder this one and I never done that before. As if Arjen projects were not the best already, getting Brittney Slays to sing on this project was too much to take lol take my money now 😆 😆 😆 💸 💸 💸
"Normally" if a music video contains computer code and screens, it tends to be gibberish. But here we have: 1. What appears on the left at 1:25 is real code to handle files, read them, and do some content manipulation. The code is written in scripting language Lua. 2. At 1:28 at the bottom, it says "install sbcl" and then two lines of output. This what installing software package "sbcl" might look like on Linux. SBCL is a compiler of programming language Lisp, and it is being downloaded in version 1.3.20, which is a real version from 2O17. At 1:57 the download continues. 3. At 1:58 on the right, the window first shows the real manual of program "ssh". This is a program used to connect to a computer's command line over network. Then the window exits the manual, and proceeds to use program "cd" to try to change the working directory. This is done in a shell environment called "zsh", which is also real. Directory is changed to "~/Desktop", which is simply a Desktop folder in the current user's homefolder. In that directory, it proceeds to use program "tail" to show the last 8 lines of file "downloadfonts.rb" which seems to be a Ruby script. Then the window switches to the manual page of program "nmap", which is a network discovery/probing tool. 4. At 2:13 on the left, it is blurry, but it looks like the output of program like "top", which shows running processes and system load on a Linux/Unix operating system. 5. 2:37 on the left, again a manual, can't read what for 6. At 2:40, we can see the output of "top" or a similar program again, this time more clearly. We can see that the user is called "evilgenius" and the system is running on a computer with at least 4 CPU threads, and is running a lot of processes (unfortunately too blurry to read what the processes are) 7. At 3:20 on the left, we see another manual page (yes, if you use a command-line operating system, you might really spend more time reading the manual of a program, than using the program). Then it switches to a text output which looks very much like the hexadecimal representation of a payload of a network packet (such output can be obtained by network sniffing tools like "tcpdump"), including the conversion to ASCII text characters. At first look, the payload seems to be encrypted, which would suggest the packet went most likely through HTTPS or another encrypted network protocol. Then the window switches to some parts that we already saw before - showing last 8 lines of script "downloadfonts.rb" and showing the manual pages of program "nmap". 8. At 4:58 on the left, we have the zsh shell with a more complicated command. It is too blurry for me to read in detail and tell what exactly it does, but is seems like a loop which at the very least looks syntactically correct. And it produces a large number of zeros and ones on the output. The first line of zeros and ones does not seem like anything i recognize (e.g. it does not look like ASCII characters). Are you having fun too, viewer?
Thanks! Also at 1:00 we have what looks like top again but tweaked to include cpu usage as bars. Do this by typing "1" in top to get individual cpu usages, then pressing "t" to switch display modes. Press "m" to switch mem/swap display modes too. The download at 1:28 is MacOS, since it's downloading from a "homebrew" repo and the file has the "sierra" code name. 5:07 has some more manual pages, I can make out the words "comma separated", could be anything, followed by some Hexadecimal something. Arjen might have to provide a copy of the GPL with this video.
I love the funny text displays, "tall Hippie detected, hamless" or when Michael Romeo comes in, "merciless shredding overload, incoming.." xD Also, Brittney from Unleash The Archers, awesome! Should have done a funny text display for her also. "Earth shattering metal vocals incoming" or something like this. xD
Ya, I posted on her facebook saying, as a fellow Canadian, I was so happy and proud that she is singing on an Arjen project and joins my other favorite female singers like Floor, Simone and Anneke!
OH, WOW! Britney is slaying in the vocals (pun intended). That high note is still ringing in my ears. Seeing Arjen rocking the synth, guitar and bass makes my day! And Romeo! Holy sh*t! Fingers effortlessly dancing through the fret board. I've been a huge fan for over 15 years and it still amazes me to see him playing. Arjen, you are a freaking genius! Love your works.
What’s insane is that isn’t even close to her top range. It’s why she can always hit those so flawlessly even live…she harmonizes a lot of her lines in the studio an octave up. 😳
Brit is amazing, always, but I feel there's something magical about Arjen and his projects that makes singers bright shinier than ever! Can't wait for the album!!
For all his impressive talents, I will never stop going on about how his top tier, 11/10 ability is in vocal direction and casting. He seems to know exactly what vocalists to use and how to use them for everything he does. Even the ones he claims to not like as much (ex.: Temple of the Cat) are still elevated to excellence in my opinion.
Everything about this is amazing. The visuals, the Hammonds, Arjen in his usual goofy awesomeness, Brittney downright slaying the vocals, Romeo's solo and Warby's supertight assault on the drums - this record is going to be so great, I can't wait!
When you need an A5 at full belt there's no one else who does it like Brittney Slayes! Thrilled to see her and Michael Romeo on this absolute BANGER of a song!
What a fantastic track, the drive is merciless. Brittney is something special, she did great as I knew she would. I really love this song. Just have to be careful I'm not speeding when I put this on when I'm driving.
4:27 What a powerful moment, when the solo enters half-time!!! And I LOVE the classic Arjen-synth play in the intro! Plus, great intensity on the riffs/drums!
3:08 is yet another powerful moment. I just love the vocals together with the open and redempting guitars. My favorite moment on the song. I always preferred and had a soft spot for rhythm guitars anyway
Unleashing the Archers have been very hyped amongst power metal fans for 5-ish years, though - since the "Tonight We Ride (2015)" and "Awakening (2017)" music videos. Better late than never :D
Wow Arjan!!!! Incredible song !!! I believe your smile while playing this song is the ultimate expression of the Force of your Music! (Real music.) Thanks for having you and your music!!!!!

Once I saw Michael Romeo's name thats all I needed. One of the true Guitar Gods....Symphony X is amazing! This song stands apart from his work with Symphony X but, still crushes it. Fantastic vocals as well...WANT TO HEAR MORE!
If you don't know Ayreon's Dawn of a Million Souls, featuring both Russell Allen and Michael Romeo, check it out. It's slower than this but written by the same guy. And Romeo's solo is quite memorable.
@@soon_to_emerge Hmmm, could be somewhat. Although usually it squashes drums and guitars more than the vocals... though I'm not an audio engineer. Just an audiophile. 🤓

I don't know of anyone who actually knows of Romeo and underrates him. Maybe he's just not well known enough.
This has a Run Apocalypse Run vibe to it. It's also fucking awesome. Can't wait for this.
There has to be some sort of connection. It is just too similar, in theme and sound.
It's definitely the guitar riffs and keyboards. You're 100% right on that, I also picked up on it pretty quickly. XD
