My D&D group and me once did a game where the players were in a band. No evil wizard, No apocalyptic demon horde. Just a band on a journey to adventure, and write the most metal album they could. Turns out, Unleash the Archers, did it first. Fucking Epic.
What's neat is they all look so chill about it like they're not putting on a production. They're just jamming nonchalant. It almost looks like they're warming up.
This is the most frustrating/delightful thing about watching people who are incredibly good. In order to get there they have to be so efficient with every movement that it looks effortless. This is incredibly irritating when you are starting off and are putting in loads of effort but are nowhere close to someone who looks from the outside like they are putting in no effort. The effort is just hidden in time.

Technically one of the tightest metal bands in existence. They make it look easy but coming from someone who's not naturally gifted in music and who works very hard to be just ok at it this is mesmerizing to watch.
I've been listening to this song for a many months now, but even after this time I get goosebumps every time. This fantastic band and the brilliant voice of Brittney blow me away every time. There are few bands and few voices that grab me like this one - I really love it.
The melody that drives the chorus genuinely brings tears to my eyes. So PERFECTLY structured. UTA just seems to be getting better and better. I have lived through the "apex" of so many legendary bands in my 48 years, this is something very special and I am hoping for greatness from this band. I, for one, will support with my hard earned dollars happily.
Just discovered this band a couple of months ago and I cannot get over how damn good they really are. I'm an old '80s metalhead that hasn't found too much within the last two decades of music that I really like. Today I am listening to Apex all the way through and I am just completely blown away. There isn't enough that it can be said about the composition, execution, and production of this album. The musicianship is God level and Brittany should have a constellation named after her someday. I hope that these guys get down south someday, and for the Canadians I don't mean Windsor. Best regards from rejuvenated metal fan. Thank you for your excellence and outright ass kickery on this album.

By now I think I've watched every Unleash the Archers video at least 10 times, and this is still my favorite. It doesn't have cool costumes or an inventive scenario, just musicians doing what they love.
After almost 40 years of metal... I've never seen such an intense combination of skill and talent in one group. This *is* the pinnacle. Take note! It doesn't get any better.
Look around the world bub. Theres a band from Japan called galneryus that keeps power metal alive too but that's just a tick in time like this band to even mention
Metal is a genre that delivers a lot of things emotionally to me. This however made me misty eyed the first time I heard it. Where I usually find determination in darker place, this composition is bright. This feels like determination driven by hope which is a sensation that I could use more of. Incredible work. I am moved.

UTA, thank you for sharing your talent with us! I can't wait to catch a concert once all of this pandemic crap settles out. Everyone stay healthy and safe!
They've transmuted some of the phases of metal from the last 40 years (NWOBHM, Power, Thrash, a bit of Death, some Prog) into a 7:17 long barrage of musical high-pressure steel shot. I... was not expecting this to be the first thing I clicked on this morning. Now I feel I have the energy to get through the next four days of work. Thanks, Unleash The Archers!

I sat for almost 10 minutes after this song just trying to reign in my heartbeat and process my emotions. I have a new favorite group for the first time in almost 40 years! Amazing, exhilarating, breath taking, and fucking awesome! I gotta go listen to it again.
I felt this same way when I first heard them. My first time hearing them was this song at a love show. You couldn't see them until the curtain dropped at the first vocal line. I was completely overwhelmed by the perfection of the song. Every instrument is played perfectly throughout the song. The transitions between sections are perfect. Her beauty is overwhelming too. Needles to say, they gained a fan for life.
Any one else notice the drummer using heel-toe technique to do doubles on the bass drums instead if just super fast singles? God damn that's impressive and smart as bell because it saves a lot of energy
Im here 6 years after the album dropped and i can tell you... it still gets fucking better... its enraging and amazing at the same time UNLEASH THE ARCHERS WHY ARE YOU SO DAMN GOOD?!??! The brand new album is more melodic but it SLAYES TOO!!!!
I recently discovered this band through a picture of her on the internet…. I randomly looked up this band and this was the first song I listened to…. Got me a speeding ticket…..
I love the big focus is on the instrumentals I rarely get to see a band play the instrument in these type of videos. The fly by fast. Good balance here
In the last few weeks I also discovered UTA, this song in particular is being replayed over and over again due to severe awesomeness. I also discovered Jinjer and finally listened to Nightwish. I still have so much more left to find 😁
Diniz yep filmed really well . If you havent already, check out the drum playthroughs of Alex Rudinger with Conquering Dystopia . Everyone is amazing in that band .
King Curmudgeon that's heel toe! Just more efficient way of playing a double that's a little easier with longboard pedals. Can be done on shortboards as well.
Andrew Fennewald that’s a good question. I feel like a lot of upper level music theory classes in college explore different genres of music to understand format.
When I went to High School (age 17-20) here in Denmark, I analyzed Dream Theater - A Change of Season in 1st grade and played Death - Crystal Mountain for my exam in 3rd grade, and I even had an old teacher (retired the past couple of years)! Most teachers probably know, that they can't keep on restricting young students to jazz, gospel etc., so they're probably fine with most music, as long as you can find tabs or sheets for it :)

I seen these guys in London,Ontario in the mid 2000’s in which they were still trying to gain some ground & get their name out there. They were awesome live!
I really appreciate a lot of things about this band, not the least of which is the fact that the lyrics are comprehensible and tell a story which is internally consistent and not just a random chain of words like....well, let's say some other power metal bands
This song is amazing and catchy, but once you actually are able to see and visualize what these guys are doing it just adds a whole new level of depth and takes the song from 10 to 11. It's not a "traditional" music video but rather them in their studio playing the song which puts more emphasis on the performance of the music than the theater of a video. Watching the fingers of the guitar and bass players and the feet of the drummer and Brittney's face as she hits those high notes just really showcases how incredible this band is. This is actually the song that I discovered this band on and I haven't looked back since. Also, the production is incredible. The mix really highlights each instruments individual role and prowess and that bass playing is so sick and complex!
I'm pretty old so maybe my mind has fallen-down and broken a hip or something but I swear I feel like I'm sitting in my best friends room listening to his old Kenwood tuner and turn-table, I remember it was so loud that we had to wait for his mom to go to work at the bar right down the street before we cranked it up and then there were only the neighbors to contend with. Luckily, my friend Dave (who like myself was 14 years old) was big for his age (6ft 2in)) and was constitutionally incapable of backing-down from an adult. More to the point, neighbors that were ready to call the cops or kick a hole in the wall one minute grew docile and accommodating the next, after he'd shouldered his way into sight like a refrigerator in a flannel-shirt. So we had at least an hour or two to test his speakers real well, all four of them, Panasonic's, which introduces us to the next question: Why Panasonic's? The answers to that question are many, like 1) Do you know what Bose cost? 2) If you go cheap but not unknown you get a kind of deal and 3) visually, four speakers are louder than two. I stand by that. We turned the volume up for groups like Mott The Hoople and Uriah Heep and Iron Butterfly and Mountain and...shit... Kaptain Kopter and the Twirlybirds and Todd Rundgren and Donovan and Vanilla Fudge and Roy Buchanan and, I'm done. All that just to say that I get hit with this feeling of exhilaration and deja-vu when I hear this song, not just because of the powerful, driving, sound of it, which reminds me of a piece that would accompany the rallying of the cavalry or the gathering of The Magnificent Seven or going to Riven-Rock to face the Orcs but also because it is couched in the language and symbolism of the books I read and the authors I loved, the same authors that rock-bands went to for inspiration: Tolkien, Poe, Castaneda, Howard, Homer...Lovecraft. Of course, I realize it's been taken-up a few notches by the introduction of Gaming and computers and Anime and the great movies they make nowadays but still, there is a certain spirit that ties the past to the present and I really feel it through this music. I said all that without even touching on the valkyrie vocals or the instrumental excellence or the pacing or the drum-opening or the three-piece guitar squad assault on the senses...fuck it, I'm going to listen to it again, loud. (* The most incredible difference between music in the 70's and music now are these tiny, walnut-sized headphones we get to listen to now, so incomprehensibly small but so loud and crisp, my headphones when I was 14 or 15 years-old were enormous, like something you'd wear as a member of a tank-crew in WWII, I used to have to turn sideways to walk through a doorway, they were THAT big. Count your blessings 2024, we are very fortunate.*)
I found this song on a Spotify playlist a while back and immediately had to listen to the whole album. They become my favorite band in probably less than a week.
only 10 million views!?!? I guess I am slacking. There is just such power in this song. The drummer is just killing it. The guitars are grinding it. And of course Brittney is just soaring. This SONG will always roam and never die.
I think about 1000 of the 16m views (at time of writing this) are from me. This band is super tight, catchy melody lines, 5 virtuoso-like musicians. This whole album (yes, we still say album) is stellar, the story is well thought out and presented perfectly. My only regret is not hearing of them sooner. Prob, summer 2023, YT put this song in my feed and was rabbit holed to death!!
@brettemurphy lol I have definitely watched a lot of those videos. But you are right, I rabbit holed those as well. The best is the first intro scream!!

Lyrics: UNLEASH THE ARCHERS - Awakening
To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed
To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same
This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace
A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way
Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end
Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name
It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream
I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse
My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
Come to me, awakening
Follow my voice, come to me
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never
Lighting my way in the night
To roam; to never die
"To roam never to die."
Soon enough that fate comes for us all.

My D&D group and me once did a game where the players were in a band. No evil wizard, No apocalyptic demon horde. Just a band on a journey to adventure, and write the most metal album they could. Turns out, Unleash the Archers, did it first. Fucking Epic.
Best metal I've heard in years... I mean years... 100 points.
My heart was in my throat and I kind of felt tears well up!!
What's neat is they all look so chill about it like they're not putting on a production. They're just jamming nonchalant. It almost looks like they're warming up.
Too calm for metal, perfect for RPG Saturday night though.
That's the sign of a true pro.
The Durden duration is hard
This is the most frustrating/delightful thing about watching people who are incredibly good. In order to get there they have to be so efficient with every movement that it looks effortless. This is incredibly irritating when you are starting off and are putting in loads of effort but are nowhere close to someone who looks from the outside like they are putting in no effort. The effort is just hidden in time.
I refer to it as humble talent. I absolutely love it.
"Awakening"

Technically one of the tightest metal bands in existence. They make it look easy but coming from someone who's not naturally gifted in music and who works very hard to be just ok at it this is mesmerizing to watch.

And you know there's a sequel album to Apex that came out last year, right?
@@timhendricks650 yes, I have listened to abyss as well and it is equally excellent. Personally, I'm an old fashioned guy and prefer the traditional six string approach over the extended range seven string, but that's just me. I hope that someday I will get a chance to see them live, but if I ever have the ability to do so I will go to them to experience one of their shows.
Saw you guys live in Melbourne a few months ago, 100% fucking FLAWLESS from start to finish, not a beat nor note out of place. In-fucking-credible.

One of the most powerful songs I've heard in ages 😍
Metal is a genre that delivers a lot of things emotionally to me. This however made me misty eyed the first time I heard it. Where I usually find determination in darker place, this composition is bright. This feels like determination driven by hope which is a sensation that I could use more of. Incredible work. I am moved.
I'd say "driven by purpose" not so much hope. Based on the lyrics.

What is the technique he is using called where he does 2 hits on each foot rather than 1? Is it just a way of doing the same thing using less effort?
King Curmudgeon that's heel toe! Just more efficient way of playing a double that's a little easier with longboard pedals. Can be done on shortboards as well.
I was most impressed with the drums. Everything they're doing is just going up in quality, but the drumming in this one is pretty stellar.

I analyzed this in a college level music theory class. Loved every second of it.
Curious is it common to analyze rock songs in music theory classes? Or only the ones that have enough going on to be worth locking at?
Andrew Fennewald that’s a good question. I feel like a lot of upper level music theory classes in college explore different genres of music to understand format.
You have an amazing professor
When I went to High School (age 17-20) here in Denmark, I analyzed Dream Theater - A Change of Season in 1st grade and played Death - Crystal Mountain for my exam in 3rd grade, and I even had an old teacher (retired the past couple of years)!

What about moonlight eternal?
Still one of the best songs I've ever heard years after discovering it. 🎃
THE DRUMMER IS IN HIS SOCKS! Not even wearing shoes, how awesome is he?!

The footwork ain't bad either.
RIGHT? RIGHT? LOL I thought for a legit second that it was Clayne Crawford on the drums lmao :D
In german we call those things "Pornobalken"
This is really awesome! Everything!!!!
only 10 million views!?!? I guess I am slacking. There is just such power in this song. The drummer is just killing it. The guitars are grinding it. And of course Brittney is just soaring. This SONG will always roam and never die.
Yeah that seems low. I know ive watched this over 8.5 million times so does it only count unique views or....?
Brilliant, simply brilliant. The guitars, base, drums, vocals and words. All are simply brilliant. Bravo
Enmanuel Delgado bass*
can we all just appreciate how its a double, double kick on the bass-drum
I think about 1000 of the 16m views (at time of writing this) are from me. This band is super tight, catchy melody lines, 5 virtuoso-like musicians. This whole album (yes, we still say album) is stellar, the story is well thought out and presented perfectly. My only regret is not hearing of them sooner. Prob, summer 2023, YT put this song in my feed and was rabbit holed to death!!
And another 100,000 would be from RUclips reaction videos 🤣 EDIT: Or is that another rabbit hole you are yet to go down?!
@brettemurphy lol I have definitely watched a lot of those videos. But you are right, I rabbit holed those as well. The best is the first intro scream!!
I have Watched this Video at Least a Million Times and each Time I'm Blown away ! 🤯
What the hell?!?!?! How am I just discovering this mind blowing band and song!!!! The musicianship and vocals is beyond incredible. This song, to use a baseball analogy, is a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th in a World Series game.
This band is just what I needed to find at the beginning of 2021!!!!!
Awesome Song. One of my favorite from UtA 🤘🤘
You know... This is one of those songs that make that "click" inside my brain and make me want to jump. I've been waiting for so long for this kind of excitement. Years have passed since the last time. I feel like I have to move, can't just sit down and listen calmly. Well done, guys. Well done. Thanks.
Hm i dont find it that great
@@a.g.4843 Honestly I don't know why this song gives me this feeling, but it does, and that's it. If you know something better, please tell me, I'm always looking for new songs and bands!
