- Today we are installing power locks on Bryan's Nissan Hardbody D21!
The power lock kit we used: amzn.to/3eyNQeZ (Affiliate)
Alternate Kit to try: amzn.to/3fqmrwe (Affiliate)
Trim removal kit: amzn.to/2I2rPYI (Affiliate)
Just like we did on the Mazda, we've now installed power locks on the Hardbody! Check out this guide on how to add them to your Nissan. Super easy and a mod definitely worth doing!
I'm going to be showing you exactly where I placed the actuators inside the doors clearing all moving parts and glass. I also show you how to route your wiring and where I installed my central lock unit to control everything.
Some tools you will need are going to be:
Phillips screwdriver, Drill, 1/8 Drill bit, Electrical tape, Zip Ties, Blue Loctite

I found the wire that will make the lights flash. It’s a Pink wire with a Blue stripe behind the steering wheel.
Nice! I just inherited my grandfathers 1990 single cab RWD. You guys have all the good ideas!
Awesome to see the mini truck staying in the family
you will need to put in MRJim1's TC tensioner keep that timing chain in tip top shape, many a KA has fallen to unaware owners neglecting chain start up rattle don't ignore it I beg you I love regular cab 1990 hardbodys please preserve it
ruclips.net/video/8cJam2ELsTc/видео.html
Awesome Video! Looking forward to the part two when you finish wiring everything up to the lights! Also, maybe integrate a kill switch into the wiring system?
We definitely want to add a kill switch but I don’t think we’ll show it for security reasons. Chris fix has a great video on kill switches
Nice video, thinking about doing this! Unlocking it manually is pissing me off lmao
This mod is def worth it! Specially if you ride with a passenger. So annoying having to get in and reach to open the other door
Same ive locked my keys in once and I get annoyed because I have to open it and lock it manually lol
Yeah I need this for my HB. Thank you for posting this tutorial.
How it helps you install go smooth
左ハンドルのハードボディがうらやましい❗️カッコいい👍
どうもありがとうございました!
nice install, one quick question, where did you get the steering wheel adapter? do you have the link. I like the fitment.
We have a video for the install on the steering wheel. Check out the channel but these are the hub and quick release we used NRG Hub for Nissan Hardbody D21 amzn.to/31hApIH
NRG Quick release amzn.to/3gTGGjr
I have an extended cab 03 S10 not a D21 but I’m sure this would work just the same, great job guys
Should work the same wire wise, you might just need to find a good location for all the actuators
What’s a good interior door lock switch to use?
Good video worth the watch
That’s a clean installation bro awesome!!!!
Thanks bro!
Dude I got a 1986 d21 and the driver window won’t roll down. I know it needs a new regulator but I can’t get the window down to unscrew it from the regulator. What to do????
Dang i just did an alarm should of wait i could of done this ajaja nice set up n cheap👍🏼😀
Can always knock it out on a weekend next time 👍😀
Chingon 👍 new subscriber thanks for sharing this video ✌🏼.
Gracias!
Did I do the wiring wrong? I had connect the positive wire to a yellow wire thinking it was for the radio and found out that it’s draining my battery
It's possible if you aren't using the truck for long periods of time or if the wiring might be different in any way. The wiring on this truck was a mess from previous owners so yours also might be different
Powered windows next please!!
Nice Mr smoke buddy keychain 😂😂😂😂😂
Hi sir do you have a tutorial on how to wire the manual switch button? many thanks! your video helps a lot
Unfortunately we don’t have one yet since I haven’t been able to find a good switch for it
Nice loved the video 👍👍
Nice. Great job.
Thank you!
Have a cuestion when u get the costant power from the stereo do the locks work only when the car is on
Constant power means the power line is always hot or "on" so your locks will work whether the car is on or not
@@FlakeGarage well i install my on the wire from the stereo but only works whent the car is on
Then that is not the constant power wire. I’d get a test light and check the wires when the truck is off to find the constant power wire.
@@FlakeGarage i find wire thats is light green- yellow and the back of the stereo has a sticker has light green-yellow strip = memory feed
Link for the power lock kit on Amazon is dead now.
Give this one a try amzn.to/3eyNQeZ
For the switch, we’re you referring to a kill switch?
I'm actually referring to a lock/unlock switch, you are able to add one to the system, we just haven't yet
Hi do you have a video on where to tap the blinker at turn signal? many thanks
It's coming soon
Thanks for the video. My door lock won’t open with my key. I think the lock mechanism is faulty somewhere. Will this power lock work with my locks or do I need to fix my lock mechanism first? Thank you 🙏
You are better off fixing your mechanism first. It shouldn't be too difficult to do, most likely you might just need a new cylinder lock or some stuff plugged right. If the power runs out for any reason you have to use your key to open the door
I guess i was hoping for a keyless door lock, because car thieves can jimmy the lock and gain entry. They didnt get my hardbody because they could not defeat the steering lock, but they still took the glove box contents and would have taken my stereo had it been newer.
Where do you guys find rims for the d21s
Did you guys ever finish wiring to the lights.? If so, where can I see the video.? I just installed the same one on mine but I don’t know where to connect the wires for the lights.
We kind of did but we haven't taken a video of the process. You have to tap into a wire in the steering column
d21..... Bypass the heater core and now it only gets 8 miles per gallon for some reason anybody have any ideas?😢😢😢
Did you ever wire in the lock and unlock light, if so did you ever get a video of it
We did but we haven't done a video on the hardbody, you can see the one on the B2000 and it's a similar concept just a matter of finding the two wires on the hardbody that belong to the turn signals ruclips.net/video/mU-KjYHt0Bc/видео.html
How can I integrate this to viper alarm
Idk, if someone wants to send us a viper alarm, we can figure it out 😂
Mine locks then unlocks by itself. I color matched all the wires on the driver side. Trying to figure out why its not working.
Check all wires on the locks and also what you used to power the controller box. A power wire might be reverse which is activating the box in a weird way
Nice im thinking of that, where u guys located
We are based in Texas
@@FlakeGarage nice, is the wiring kinda the same for an alarm?
It would be a similar style yeah but the alarm horn would need to be wired somewhere under the hood so you might want to pull power straight from the battery
@@FlakeGarage thanks for the info guys
By the way did u guys put those lock to be powered instead of manually
Question will this kit also work with my 1993 nissan hardbody??
Yes
@@FlakeGarage thanks
Can you still unlock it with the outside door locks?
Yes you can still lock and unlock the door if the power locks fail for any reason
Can you plz post link for looks?

🤙🏻
d21 similar to the 87 isuzu pup?
They are similar from the era yes. I don’t know if their plugs are the same. You would need to look at it
@@FlakeGarage the body looks very similar, the panel is a little different but mostly the same, did you guys add and interior switch? in interested in seeing how to do that one...
We haven’t added one yet. Cant find a good switch we like yet but we we’ll be adding it in the future and we’ll post a video when we do
👍🏼
What happens if your battery dies?
*truck battery
@@Caseyp671 use your key and open the door lock
Were y’all from
Texas
What if you lose the key
I mean you ain't getting in your car without a key whether is a power lock or not
@@FlakeGarage but can you get a replacement
@@blake8me for the remote you mean? The kit comes with 2, if you lose both of them you'll have to get new programable remotes or a new control unit with remotes
yo where is the steering wheel from
You can pick up one here amzn.to/2DkBxD9
Sweet thanks bro
If you battery dies you screwed.
Your key still works the same as it did before so if you battery dies, your car will still open just fine
Hey man your videos have been soooo much helpful thank you ! Now for the alarm system you installed, what is the distance range for the controller ?
That's a good question that I haven't really tested. So far it seems to open I"d say from at least 60-70 ft. I usually only open the doors once I'm about to hop on lol
