I can see where youre coming from, but art isnt in just the hands. Craft isn't even in just the hands. Im a ceramicist, our college next door studio was woodworking. People there made beautiful things with their hands in lots of different ways, they had a huge array of hand tools but also a cnc machine. They often used a combination of all of these at once. Our ceramics studio peeps used everything from their bare hands, to wheels, to molds, to a ceramic 3d printer. Its not about the tool a lot of the time, its about the work ethic. A laser cutter is just another tool, and takes just as much skill to use as a chisel. Most good crafts people use a combination of different tools. You wouldn't say anything negative about this guy using so many different carving tools just because someone else only used 1 single knife would you? The chisels are just as much a product of advancing technology as any electric tool. By that logic the only REAL ART would be hitting things with sharp rocks or perhaps gnawing away at them with our teeth. Tools are just tools, you pick the one best suited for what youre trying to accomplish.

Wow. When you see the curve in the entire piece you realize exactly how much engineering goes into this art. It's not just making something pretty, although it's obviously stunning, but it also has to serve a pretty specific purpose. What an incredible artist!!

In our concrete and glass societies, it is wonderful to see a Master Craftsman like this. It would be so beneficial to have this craftsman on his own PBS Show.
