    I love your work. People are weird about purity of material. It’s like saying a work of pottery is no longer art bc it’s painted. Great job!

    Superbe ! Magnifique !! 👏👍🌟 Un vrai plaisir pour les yeux. Et le fait d'avoir choisi de présenter l'élaboration de la sculpture sans fond musical, juste avec le son léger des gouges et ciseaux, c'est très relaxant.

      Спасибо. Лошади очень красивые животные, хотелось бы сделать работу больших размеров, но к сожалению очень трудно найти хорошее дерево больших размеров, а клеенное дерево в таких работах плохо смотрится.

    Goodness. That's amaaaaazing. How to even start? I think id have to practice body parts . Like do 20 front legs, 20 back legs. 20 heads snd thrn try doing a full horse. Just beautiful work. So much care on each shaving. And brilliant to watch. Couldnt look away

    • @oldschoolcarving7926
      @oldschoolcarving7926  10 месяцев назад +1

      В дереве практически нереально попасть в правильные пропорции. Всегда есть место где снимишь больше чем нужно ,к сожалению в резьбе невозможно исправить как в лепке это можно делать бесконечно.
      В резьбе нужно больше вносить творчества в изделия чем пытаться сделать точную копию животного или человека.

    Lovely carving! Thanks for sharing🙂. You inspire me to "have a go soon" at those horses for the Stagecoach. I am going to use Cherry as apparently, a nice wood to carve with. The color will be nice.
    Your opinion would help. I see you have your horse hooves anchored to the wood. I am thinking of doing the same but afterward removing the hooves all from the wood and then having pins come up from a false bottom into the hooves. This will then create the same common ground as the Stagecoach. Hopefully with not too much effort. Sharp tools are a must and what a lovely sound your chisel made slicing through wood. Gives one the feeling to carve.

  • @rogerbrookes3515
    @rogerbrookes3515 Год назад +7

    No Dremel, no grinders, just a sharp edge on Lime wood and 10,000 hours of practice; this is real carving.

    • @vladinsk_
      @vladinsk_ Год назад +2

      because you use power tools doesn't mean you're fake carving lmfao it's still carving since you literally make dents and take off material. Its faster and generally more convenient all across the board with "dremels and grinders" except for details maybe where you'd need to be softer with hand tools. If anything it's objectively better to spend less time for a similar finish cause you can make more and make more progress, evolve. Taking that 10k hours to practice hand skills is more about passion than productivity imo anyway

    really great work, the line on the back bothers me, the block of wood seems to consist of two parts, what kind of wood is that?
    do you prefer a certain brand of carving irons, i myself use them almost exclusively from the Pfeil company

    • @More-Space-In-Ear
      @More-Space-In-Ear Год назад

      I think it's a natural crack in the wood, only seen when getting to rough shape it at the start, the wood, which is Lindon (same like Lime and Boxwood) can be expensive and I admire him to keep going on with the carving, some would just start again on a different block, maybe he didn't have anymore. Tools look like a mix of good quality chisels, Pfeil amongst them.

    • @oldschoolcarving7926
      @oldschoolcarving7926  Год назад +1

      The bar is glued from two parts. I tried to match the grain direction of the wood so that it looks like it's one solid piece of wood. It is very difficult to find a good, crack-free wood blank for carving, so you have to glue it. I have chisels from very different companies, but unfortunately I don’t have Pfeil, I want to buy several pieces in the future.

    • @More-Space-In-Ear
      @More-Space-In-Ear Год назад

      @oldschoolcarving7926 the wood match was great, sadly it's the glue that makes the line. Yes your right about sourcing large blocks, most are 4"x12"x10", I've been looking for at least 12"x12"x12" and at €270 it's out of my league..
