    Good "real guy" review. Thank you sir. My only reservation is the fact that these boots have a nubuck finish, rather than a smooth leather finish. I have found nubuck and suede type shoes harder to care for. I am asking this question deep into 2021, and since you posted this in late 2020, maybe you have had some time with them. Have you found them harder to keep clean and good-looking? I do some city riding, and so I want them to look good, but I also do some camping, so they need to be rugged. Please feel free to add any other advice. As you mentioned, these boots are expensive, but I also don't mind paying for quality. I'm in the U.S. in case that makes any difference. Thank you!

      Sometimes I'm too busy to reply at the time as I comments come through all hours of the day (this gent is in the US so could easily have been in the middle of the night), so I like them with the intention of coming back to reply. Some I forget. I try to reply to every single comment on my channel which most RUclips creators won't do, most won't reply to any unless its someone who is on their patreon.
      In response to you Steven, and apologies I forgot to respond. I wear mine for most of the spring/summer months. They get cleaned with a nubuck/suede cleaner and brush when they get a little dirty, then I tend to spray them with some nubuck/suede protection spray which I used to use on my Timberland boots. Has kept them looking fresh! The only thing looking worn is the shifter pad on the left boot, but still not something that ruins the look of the boot. They are now as comfy as any pair of non motorcycle boots, I have worn them on hikes and all sorts. Really love them!

      @@SamVBikes no problem mate, just found it funny. Interested in these boots because of the summer months, I have a pair of gore tex alpinestars (smx-6v2 if you are interested) for winter and they are great, and for sportier riding/hotter weather I have some sporty a stars boots (super tech r vented). Just not sure if these will be THAT much cooler than my boots. they look gorgeous though and can wear into work so will probably go for them haha

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Год назад

      They aren't particularly cool if I'm honest, I don't ever find my feet get sweaty in them so they are obviously doing what they are doing, but I don't really notice them being cool. I mainly bought them because they look great and Daytona is a great brand, but I love them! Real cafe racer type of vibe and can wear them at work like you say. They definitely don't look out of place at the pub either, just look like a really nice pair of boots

    Seriously looking at the Classics. How is sizing - as per normal shoe size or up a half size?

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 года назад +1

      I love them! To be honest I'd say they came up quite big on me. Primarily around the toes. I went for my usual size and they are fine. The laces offer a lot of adjustment too

  • @hiddendragon415
    @hiddendragon415 3 года назад

    Any motorcycle boot with a lace up is great, you can really make them fit snug. How did you find the sizing on this Daytona boot. That say a lot of Daytona boots are generous so a size down is advised. I read your comment below true to size was fine for you but do you think a size down would also fit?

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 года назад +1

      Agreed! These are great because the zip means you can fit snug without having to constantly do the laces! Ultimate laziness haha!
      I could get the size down on without discomfort, but I was wearing thin ankle socks when I tried them on. Went for my usual size to make sure I can wear them with any thicker sock too. Mine haven't seemed to stretch much so I wouldn't go too small in the hope they would. Hope that helps!

      @@SamVBikes The boots I had with a zip Eagle brand, really comfortable but after a year one of the zips tore away from it's stitching. Probably less of a concern with Daytona's due to their sturdy construction.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 года назад +1

      I've had similar in the past with walking boots. The Daytonas also have a really good warranty so you could get it replaced if it went that soon!

  • @SoniMystic
    @SoniMystic Год назад

    Great video. I have been wearing the Spada Pilgrim's for 5 years (they're a better design than yours), but I have problems with the "waterproofing" and tearing of the inside lining at the ankle.
    This is most likely because they're my every day boot, and have walked more miles than some bikes do in a year.
    They last 1 to 2 years before I need to replace them (I keep wearing them even after liner rips, usually until the sole detaches), and I was considering this boot which is almost 3x the price, or the Klim Blak Jak, Side Denver, Falco also has nice options.
    Do you think these will survive walks and hikes?

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I've had a few cheaper pairs of boots, including Spada, and find they need replacing very often with the amount of riding I do.
      I wear these all seasons besides winter, I walk a mile each way to work each day, and have used them for short hikes, beach walks and all sorts, and have no issues with waterproofing. I do look after them though.
      I'd say I've probably covered 25-30k miles in these boots alone over the last 3years and have only just got to the point where I need to replace the gear-change pad. Will be sending them off to Daytona to get that done in winter ready for next year.

      @@SamVBikes thanks for the quick reply and wear update!!
      That's excellent, you've already made the investment money back by now 😀 it's reassuring the odd hike doesn't bother them.
      I've been told by others they're for riding, not walking (when complaining about my spadas), but that's the whole purpose of this segment imo! My non riding boots last me years and years of both abuse and tlc, why shouldn't these!!
      I was also considering the Altberg Hoggs, but they look more of a cold weather boot?

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  Год назад +1

      No problem! Haha yes I've definitely used them well! Look after them and they will last. I sporadically mist them with the waterproofing spray to keep that outside layer bone dry too
      I agree - a more classic boot would be used more than a conventional motorcycle boot. I have 2 pairs of Daytona's (the others are Roadstar GTX) and they got abused quite a bit too but are still great. PLUS if either of these leak, they are covered under Goretex's 'Guaranteed to Keep You Dry' warranty, so Goretex will replace them/refund you if they leak. Just done this with my Sidi Adventure 2 boots for a full receipt price refund!
      Those Altberg's look very much to be a cold weather boot from what I can see!

    Great “real guy” review. Thanks! I am considering these, but have found nubuck or Swede shoes harder to care for and to keep good looking. What are your thoughts on that? I’m writing this well into 2021, and you did your review in 2020, so you have presumably had some time with them. Have you found them hard to care for? As you said, they are expensive, but I don’t mind paying for true (as opposed to hyped) quality. Please feel free to add anything else you may think helpful. I’m in the U.S. in case that makes any difference. Thank you!

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  3 года назад +1

      Thank you!
      I primarily wear these on the good days but have done the odd green lane while wearing them. Also having used them for the odd walk in the woods/on the beach. I've never actually cleaned them, but merely brushed them off with a suede brush, or given them a spray with the hose when cleaning the bike. They still look as good as they did when they came out the box. I did treat them with a suede protector spray when I got them which is the same stuff I use for my Timberland suede boots, so I guess that helps. They are goretex and treated from factory so any grime doesn't actually soak into the material which helps.
      I still absolutely love them, they are getting more comfortable the more I wear them. The only negative being that one of the tabs on the back has gone a bit limp from being crushed by my jeans going over the top!
      Hope that helps! Thanks for watching

      @@SamVBikes gotcha, thanks for the info! For context - was just wondering about that as we often go on long hikes whilst on adventure rides across multiple countries, so bringing several pairs of boots isn't much of an option, and am looking for a do it all type of boot (or at least as close as you can get) which would actually look nice. But if an hour was fine, then probably multiple hours would also be fine.
