Went to buy boots at my local dealer 2 years ago, I said my budget was £150 - he showed me half a dozen pairs and then he brought these Road Star GTXs out and said these are the ones i would buy - I looked at the price tag and said "no chance" - I tried them on and realised that he was right they just felt perfect, I spent more than double what I had intended and have not regretted it a single day - including the day i was trapped under the bike by my foot when the bike fell on top of me in the garage!
Had a coming together today with a post office van. My right leg was between my cylinder head and the van. My shin hurts a bit but that's it! Would other boots have saved me? No idea but these did and I am sure or that.
Nearly impossible to zip on before they are broken in, and that is one size too big. My size started with a 1" gap between the sides of the zipper; one size up is only a little easier. Until today when I broke a pull-tab trying to put my right boot on. When finally zipped up they are fantastically comfortable and give a real feeling of security (important to someone with three screws in their foot), but they are a bugger to put on!
when i bought my first house in 1984 it had what looks like exactly the same horrible flocked wallpaper in the living room, and it must have been on for at least a decade then. when my m8 saw it he called it 'the angry silence' - sorry but it's distracting me from the review. i'm waiting for my wide fitting to arrive, and i do hope that what you say about being wider is true as i have an awful time finding any footwear to fit me. GL
I had a pair a few years ago and found them most uncomfortable. They never wore in I was most disappointed with them considering how much i paid for them
These are beautiful well-made boots no doubt. I am disappointed however with the shin protection: it's not hard it's only padded! When I hit my shin with my hand to test it, my shin hurts. So what would happen in a real collision? Other standard touring boots like Alpine Stars Web or TCX x.5 have hard shin plates that pass the shin punch test. I don't get why Daytona doesn't have a hard shin plate. Very frustrating. Any comment on this?
It looks like there is a Road Star Pro available with upgraded armor. It's been out for a couple years but not as widely available. Did it get discontinued or why isn't it sold as widely as the regular road star?
Tried M, L and XL width. They were all too narrow. Looking at the sole, I can’t see how they can be called wide. Maybe Daytona has a wider model. Will investigate
I am also looking for a wide boot. I tried on the XL wide version of these boots but unfortunately they were too narrow. I currently have the Alpine Star Web Gore-Tex which are wider than the XL wide Daytonas. I was really surprised the Daytonas are not wide enough.

100% Agreed. Ride safe and ride often.

I have wide feet and they definitely have a wide fitting GTX model. (2022)
