Really wish they had given a completely different ammo type for this than the SR and Stinger rifles. As it stands now, the CQBR is fun to mess around with cat ears but way too expensive to use legitimately. They could have at least given us a nice Red Dot sight for it.

I mean I think they gave it a minimal look cause they planned on making the ammo scarce for a reason. I never even used it on my first play through . Now watching this I should have lol.
There is a mod that let's you have a reflex sight on it. Otherwise, use the ACOG scope. It works just fine as a "red dot sight".
I pretty much prefer the CQBR over the other rifles. Its stats are better than the Stingray (interestingly enough). You can also tap fire single shots out if you want to try and conserve ammo. Let's not forget to mention that it doesn't really make sense for it to use a different ammo type since that .223 rifle rounds is the correct ammo type for it. Then again, the Punisher uses 9mm rounds, the M1903 also uses .223 rounds, the Chicago Sweeper uses 9mm rounds, etc. Either way, I say the CQBR is in the right place using the game's rifle ammo.
I completely disagree. I’ve used it on several runs where I just save it ammo for tough fight and it just melts anything if you’re smart and craft lots of rifle ammo. I’ve used it on hardcore and professional and it can be optimized if you just don’t use snipers a lot. I prefer the bolt action but all 3 rifles are very viable. If it used another ammunition it’d be way too powerful

This is how I remember the Chicago Typewriter being in OG RE4, before it got the nerf in Remake.
I hate that they nerfed it. And even with cat ears this isn’t a viable replacement because of how often you have to reload
@@countof3everybodyOD There was never a need to rebalance completion bonus weapons like the Chicago Typewriter and Handcannon, because you have already completed the game by that point.
The entire point of completion bonus weapons is that they are absurdly broken. In Re4make the Handcannon is now even more pointless than the Chicago Sweeper. It has become a terrible weapon to use!
@Captain Thunderbolt I disagree on that one. I used the handcannon to carry me through my professional S+ rank run it's still very much overpowered. Is it as op as the original? No but still op enough to carry you through the game and fly through all the bosses

@@Hornet.919 It's OP only because it's an infinite ammo magnum - Other than that, it gets outclassed by the Broken Butterfly in every single way, and by the Killer7 in most ways. Once you have cat ears there is no longer a single reason to look at the Handcannon.
This gun is basically the OG Chicago Typewriter from the Classic RE4, but without infinite ammo and using rifle ammo.
The fact they gave it sniper rifle ammo is criminal, it's fun as hell but without the cat ears you have no ammo 😭

That was really satisfying to watch 😄. I haven't been using this AR cause of the shortage of ammo in my previous gameplays, but I've tried it with the cat ears and was so shocked at how strong it was. 😂

Despite knowing how GOOD this rifle can be, I still use Stingray for just general utility. That being said, this is a VERY strong rifle and now one to be trifled with.
Imagine spending billions on BOW, when a simple CQB can do this
Makes you question how Umbrella thought these BOWs would be effective weapons of war. They're highly weak to fire and large caliber conventional weapons. That makes them incredibly ineffective tools in a war setting.
The only thing they'd be good for is guerilla-style terrorism attacks on civilian populations. But as soon as a military imposes martial law, there goes your tactical advantage and then you're stuck with unstable, unpredictable, expensively useless tools that are more liable to do you more harm than your enemy.
This is the main reason why even if these fictional viruses were able to be real, they wouldn't really be a viable subject of research. If anything, their practical applications are more in line with medical fields than they are as BOWs.
@@zeropolicy7456 Unfortunately, civilian casualties is actually a high priority on the modern war doctrine. And fictional BOWs are very good at it.
As the BOW program initially sponsored by the US government, their primary function is to destabilizing the targeted region rather than taking over
@@HenryTitor Yeah, but that's predicated on the ability to control these things. We saw they had a little bit of success in Revelations 1&2, and with the Nemesis program, but they're still way too unstable to have any kind of practical application. Even with blanket destabilization operations.
Idk, I get that the US government has been known to experiment with some truly batshit crazy things in pursuit of innovative, next-gen war tech, but.... Something about the whole BOW program makes it hard for me to believe the government, even a fictional US one, would actually throw money at this kind of thing. Especially for decades with little to no turnaround on investment.
@@zeropolicy7456 they're cost effective because it's cheaper than a regular soldier. And the civilians of the enemy could be used against them, for example turning them in to zombies or Ganados. The ganados are much better because they are basically soldiers with high pain tolerance and his Head can turn in to a deadly sharp blade.
Turning enemies into your mindless soldiers is a plus, or using soldiers BOW too.
It's super good, but I enjoyed the infinite killer 7 the most. Just my personal opinion

Yeah I found myself using the killer 7 a lot with cat ears when I went back through to do a 100% treasure run. I really like the feel of the handguns in this game, especially the ones with laser sights. The killer 7 feels great!

Easily the strongest weapon in the game (outside of rockets), trivializes the entire game if you have the ammo for it
That’s why I’m glad they made it use rifle rounds instead of some other ammo type. If you really want to, you can save up rifle rounds and then unload them into a boss that gives you a hard time (Krauser phase 2 on professional for me, always takes out a huge chunk of his HP to make the right more manageable)

The only thing that's off on this rifle is the amount of smoke it makes, the IRL M4 doesn't use black powder.

@@maxwellchute6114 if you don't know the biggest difference between Black powder, and modern Smokeless powder.
Black powder is an older type of gun powder used most often in muzzle loaders, cap & ball revolvers, and civil war era cannons.
Smokeless as the name suggests it smokes less, it's a single or double base gun powder used in modern small arms like this M4 (after cordite was obsoleted), it doesn't obscure your vision when shooting nor does it give away your position with a big puff of smoke.
Nice, I didn't actually know that. I did used to work with M4s a lot and they were never terribly smokey even when on auto.

I did an infinite rocket launcher playthrough so I just hoarded a ton of ammo,gunpowder, resources, etc. I started a new game again with like 200+ rifle ammo and like 65 shotgun shells.
Its a beast but i kinda hate the swap between 3rd person and 1st
I agree. It takes up so much of the screen. It would have been nice if the rifle had the option for 3rd person when not equipped with a scope, and first person when equipped with a scope

The Spanish cops probably had more spare ammo on them than Leon did. Literally no spare mag, like he never learned from all his experiences.

The reason is quite Simple, all rifles in this game does like.. what. 3× or 4× damage to the weakpoint? Maybe more, combined with high rate of fire, it probably bring out a good amount of DPS. The only thing that hold it back is ammo availablity, since in normal playthrough, you mostly use rifle to kill off enemy from afar or deal damage to tough guy.
This gun burns through tough enemies (and ammo) quickly

How do you get the old sound effects when you pick something up?
It’s in the extras menu at the main menu! Where you can change Leon’s and Ashley’s clothes, at the bottom you’ll see sound and you change it there!

The killer9 fully upgraded isnt even fair.. I can snipe with it lol but basically everygun with cat ears and fully upgraded is a beast!
This is specifically ment for killing regenerators. Using it for anything else is a waste considering it uses rifle ammo and is used like a smg.
With cat ears, is it still more practical to use CQBR or actually use Mathilda
