This is some serious travel gear nerdery. I took notes.
Hahah… this made my day
Love your videos man! I will be visiting Lisbon in October. Looking forward to what you create on this travel.
Rate it highly. Very well thought out. Great job man.
Thanks for sharing the packing setup. I'm going to Portugal around the same time (São Miguel Island first then Lisbon). I might try that approach you mentioned of the backpack as overhead carry on and sling as a personal item with my cameras in it.Thanks for that idea!
I absolutely adored Lisbon. Incredibly photogenic city.
amazing video! I really feel like I'm watching you instead of an ad, thanks for that!
I have travelled with that exact Aer bag and it is fantastic. I can’t speak highly enough of it if you want something you can carry on your back.
Started watching your videos for information and warmth of your films, but now I just turn it on forever to listen to your voice - so soothing while working at home haha (still the contents are great)
Hi Faizal, I have been to Lisbon a few times nad one of the must do's is a trip or more on the No:28 tram. takes you all over for a very cheap price. Also take a trip to Sintra up in the hill it is where the Lisbon rich used to go when it got too hot in the city. If you have a sweet tooth go to Belem and sample the custard tarts in a famous bakery. Lisbon is very photogenic and I am looking forward to seeing your pics.
DUDE This is too ironic! I'm literally also going to Europe for the first time on the 30th of this month! On top of that it's going to be my first time flying or ever going to an airport! I am also only packing carry on and personal item haha, Nomatic travel backpack + a Monos carry-on luggage haha. Very excited but also very very nervous of all the risk involved, like losing luggage or overhead being full and having to check.
I just bought that 7L bag after watching this video, taking it on a trip to Japan in a few weeks. Thanks for the review!
Interesting video, you're so much more organized than me aha Have a good trip !
Have a great trip!
bro u just like me fr. im preparing for a trip to europe too and most of the stuff and setup you got i also have. down to the uniqlo tees lmao. best of luck on your travels, hope to see you!
Uniqlo tees are the best lol
I am a new fan from Manila. Love your videos!
Watched your trip backwards now I guess 😉
Great insights, Lisbon is one of my favourite cities, glad it only takes me a few hours to get there.
(Tap water is fine to drink there, btw 🙂)
Enjoy your trip!
Wel done! I’ll check out that 7l pack
Hope you do a home office video one day 😊
I have the Pilot in 10L black as my daily driver here in NYC. fantastic bag. It’s unconstructed which means when it’s not fully packed, it sits nicely on your waist/butt.
Aer bags are slept on 🔥
Nice video Faizal, now I have idea what should I bring in my next trip. Though I'm pretty sure that mine will be simpler :-)
Great video Faisal. Portugal was our lat trip pre Covid. Did the Douro River riverboat cruise but spent some time in Lisbon & Porto. Porto would be our go to place again should the opportunity arise.
I plan to do some day trips to Porto!
Great video. Just came back from a trip to Helsinki, Stockholm & Copenhagen and brought a GoPro 10 for video, a GR IIIx for photos for myself and my wife used her GR III. Never felt like we needed more the whole trip and it was super easy to carry around.
The SmallRig multi-tools are _mostly_ allowed - the only place I've had issues with those is flying through Spain, flying out of Barcelona recently they called over cops who ended up letting me keep it, but with a warning to never pull it out.
very well thought out kit. I might suggest a neck pillow, some band aids and earplugs as well
I've got plenty of band-aids in my toiletry bag haha. Need them for blisters for sure.
EXCELLENT video…I am amazed at what you can pack into the Wotancraft 7L..WOW…let us know if you had any issues with the Peakdesign tripod carry on…I hope it goes thru for carry on..HAVE Fun..can’t wait to see what you post…THANK YOU!
I was able to bring it to Istanbul with no issues! So here's hoping the same for Lisbon.
@@FaizalWestcott AWESOME..good luck and thank you for replying...
Been lurking for a minute but just subscribed! Can I ask where you got that beanie?? Been looking for something like that but no luck lol
Do a desk setup!!
I may run into you in Lisbon!
Everything is so packed and compact. Will you be bringing all the gear you've packed everywhere you go, or will you be just bringing the necessary depending on your needs? I can imagine you digging for your stuff often. Wouldn't it get messy?
I have the 7l wotancraft pilot BTW. Never knew you could fit so much into seven apparent liters! Excellent choice to bring on the trip.
Bummer you're not bringing any Fujifilm gear!
This is just how I've packed for the trip. I would only bring the Wotancraft bag out around the city with a combination of the sony, gopro, or ricoh
In my opinion the best advice for travelling in general is to not stress. You'll never get it exactly right so best to just be ready to chill and adapt to unexpected situations. Also in my experience, you should plan way more spare time than you think you need.
Great choice as first city in Europe! I’m suspicious since I’m Portuguese! eheh
Although you must visit Porto too, my home city!
Asalamualaikum Faizal. Great content. Thanks for sharing. Keep going with the quality production. Much love from 🇸🇬
are you using different size hero clips on the two bags?
jamaican airport security jacked my smallrig multi tool, fyi everyone. they also took my crescent wrench and a craftsman slotted flathead. they said they were “tools that can be used to do anything”
I have the Ricoh, but find it impossible to clearly see the monitor in bright sunlight. Do you have any settings suggestions. (also, enjoyed this video)
first
I've had the Wotancraft 10L for 1 year and I keep saying it's the best shoulder bag. Sometimes I would like to have it in 7L but the 10 allows me to put my MBP14 too. Is it possible to put it in the 7L version? If you can try it with your 7L it would be cool.
I'm also looking for a new travel bag from 40-45L and this Aer looks really good. I still hesitate with a Thule Aion or the Evergoods 35L but 35 is a little too small and really too expensive. I will continue to think.
Good video and welcome in Europe.
Best
cool😀👍👍🎥🎥📷📸
Great video! Have you had your tripod in your carry on before? I’m not sure if they are allowed in the airplane. I always put my tripod in my checked baggage.
I brought it with me to Istanbul in my Carry on!
Good to know that. I’m going to Istanbul soon.
Thanks from Russia
it’s my dream-2 this bags
Is there a reason why you cover up "sony" and the "A7iv" logo with black tape?
Many photographers/RUclipsrs do it for sponsorship (I imagine this channel is /was sponsored by Fujifilm), security (someone looking to steal a Sony camera) or aesthetic (pure black cameras, no ugly logos, etc.).
Aer really needs to get rid of magnetic straps. It comes apart when you need it to hold something and sticks when you don’t want it to like the chest strap. Everything else is great about it.
What settings do you use for your gopro mounted to your chest?
Just curious ur AER travel pack 3 is small (28L) or regular (35L) size ?
What camera would you take for the trip, if you won‘t make any videos? Just the ricoh? Or the fuji, sony, etc.?
Hi, second try. Can you try if it's possible to put a MBP14 in the Wotancraft 7L? Thanks
This is Aer Travel Pack 3 35L or 28L?? Whick one better bro?
Just love all your videos man. Wanna check with you: I know the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 is good for video, but how about for photo, is it good for 33MP A74? Coz not many ppl out there testing the combination of A74 with Sigma 28-70mm. Thanks!
It's plenty good for photos! I took some photos in Istanbul with it and I plan to do so in Lisbon too.
@@FaizalWestcott Thanks for the reply man! I know what to do next :)! Btw, do enjoy your first trip to Europe with you dad! Don't forget to enjoy your trip there while creating content at the same time!
Is this the 28Lor the 35L Aer TP3 backpack?
What brand is the small pouch your using to keep your batteries and mic in?
That's the pouch that actually came with my Lavalier mic!
im from lisbon !
Curious where u got your beanie from? 😊 brand?
just a heads up. tap water in Portugal is safe to drink.
For people that live there, sure, but it's worth remembering that as a traveller you won't have been exposed to any common diseases from the area and won't have any resistance, so there's still an increased chance of illness and the purifier isn't a bad idea.
Come to Porto City in Portugal
you have a LOT of charging paraphernalia, theres definitely easy ways to cut that down
Was thinking the same. All those power bricks become pretty hefty once you add them up.
Would love to hear your ideas!
@@FaizalWestcott I assume you have two important considerations: the need to charge a laptop, and power conversion. As soon as you pulled a power board out with USB ports on them, it made me think of something like the Zendure Passport III which might be a great replacement for all of your charging bricks/boards?
I'm currently planning a trip and am asking myself "how likely is it I'll need to charge EVERYTHING at the same time", and the answer to that is "very low", especially with a portable battery doing top ups during the day. I'm using that answer to determine how many cables and power delivering usb ports I need. I'm even considering my aforementioned passport 3 to be overkill for a 4 week trip (tablet instead of laptop mind you)
@@FaizalWestcott I've never done an overseas trip but for our week-long adventures I normally only take one or two USB wall chargers (typically the one from my phone because it's a high-end fast-charging one, then sometimes an old but good one from my 2012 Nexus 7 as a backup) and then only enough cables to cover the different types of USB. Then I have my laptop charger and that's it. I enable fast charging on all my devices (which I typically keep disabled for everyday use because they charge overnight anyway and it helps with long-term battery life). A recent addition has been an anker battery bank, which I definitely recommend. Make a mistake and forgot to charge a critical device? Battery bank. Doing lots of Google maps and videoing on your phone? Battery bank. I know nothing about transforming power from different countries (well... I know the technical side but not the practical side) but that power strip does seem unnecessarily large. But I've never looked at this stuff so I don't know.
thank you. What is the brand of your small water filter and where did you buy it from? Thank you.
It's also from Hydrapak
@@FaizalWestcott thank you🙂
@@FaizalWestcott from Belgium !!
Do you bring/use a camera stabilizer/gimbal
I don't use any gimbals. The Sony and GoPro have pretty good internal stabilzation!
Ziess 55mm is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 for street. Amazing lens ! Nice nice choice.
I don't use it enough haha. I plan to use it a lot on this trip
Be safe out there man. I love that shoulder bag it has plenty of space
Love it
Any reason why you’ve put tape over your Sony equipment to cover the logos?
Not to speak for him, but it’s an old journalist trick to make your gear look broken/old/cheap. No one needs to know that you’re shooting with a $4000 set up, and it’s easier to blend in with a crowd without intimidating people with a flashy camera.
I usually wear black and the bold white "SONY" logo just sticks out. The rest of the camera is black so if I tape it, I feel like it blends in more. It's honestly more superstitious than anything else lol
what snacks u got bro
$12 water and $8 cheetos at the airport. My snack game is lacking
Where are those European plugs?
tnx. now I will buy more stuff and a new shoulder bag 🤡
No need for you to buy any of this stuff Alex!
@@FaizalWestcott too late, new Pilot 7L bag already ordered 😅
great bag actually! I was looking for something like this.
@@svoe09 lol well at least you like it.
Second
Is tripod allowed in carry-on?
Why wouldn't it be?
Is this pack really the 7L and not the 10L? My 9L sling packs way less than this… 🤷🏼
Haha, it is the 7L! or at least that's what the bag is marketed as.
@@FaizalWestcott Packs a nice nice amount of gear for sure. Have a safe trip 👊🏻
Cool! You should also visit the city of Oporto in Portugal 🇵🇹
Have fun in Lisbon! 📸
I plan to do some day trips and eventually a longer trip down the road! Thanks!
Come on. One camera and one lens! Very heavy packing for travel.
Haha, to be fair, the Sony 55mm is pretty compact and doesn't add much weight to the set-up. Although I could technically do without it. Any other specific suggestions you have to pack less?
I’m curious where are You going in europe ? And for doing street photography ? Documentary or something else ?
Thank you for your video !!
I'm going to Lisbon, Portugal! And my Dad and I are just going because we want to explore and experience the city :)
not a secret pocket anymore,
Faizal, you've given this video an ASMR feel, without even knowing it. This was quite relaxing to watch.
How long did it take you to choose what to take, and then pack it all?
wait so does he not bring clothes? Im confused
I mention my clothes. It's in the packing cubes of my backpack
Did you not watch the video?
Are you able to attach a Peak Design Capture clip on one of the shoulder straps of the AER Travel Pack 3?
How do YOU make your money? What are your streams of income?
I'm now full time on RUclips so I make it a variety of ways between RUclips adsense, sponsorships, an e-commerce. Maybe I should make a video on this?
@@FaizalWestcott I think that would make an awesome video so it could put it in perspective for people that want to start a photography channel (like myself)
ouff way too much stuff. lisbon is okay...
Any ideas what I should leave out? I always feel like I overpack haha
