Who would have thought that 50 years on from riding my bike in Aberdeenshire forests that people would watch others doing the same on specially modified bikes and it being an actual sport. It blows my mind a bit. Some challenging sections on some of those trails.
It’s just incredible how much the trails and scene have developed up there. I moved up in 2005 and from the Lake District and quickly became aware that Aberdeenshire was the jewel in the UK Natural riding crown. Back then the trails and secret trails were in their infancy but have grown exponentially in terms of scale and difficulty over the years. Now I am back in the Lake District which is incredible in its own way but for me Aberdeenshire is hands down the best from huge Munro days out to Canadian esque secret local stuff but best of all, no crowds! Can’t wait to get back up there soon 👍
You are in the best area for biking in Scotland in my opinion. Pop into 20Twenty in Banchory and I’m sure Mike or Lewis would be more than happy to give you info/ideas on where to ride.
The look left at 1:13 - that's the red way down, which is steep as Hell. Going down the black slab blind, sight unseen - fair play to you. We were there yesterday, and that section in the dry is super steep, super quick, super slippy.
Wanted to explore Aboyne last year but between doing Tarland and Heartbreak ridge didnt have time, willnhave to try soon as poss, trails looked ace and Banchory looks like great fun think people may not realise how big trail network is in this area, well ridden and thanks for sharing Andrew 😁
Trail names can get pretty creative, all around the globe, but not sure your suggestion is gonna fly Andrew. Hahaha, Glad to see you posting again sir.
Great video as always 👍. The Rekon is my most favourite rear tyre. For me punishes way above its weight. Just wish it was strong enough for the alps. Now that would be perfect Loved the end of the video. The rain makes me want to be out in that on my bike 👍
It’s been a while! For future reference I’m available to stand in for ya, I’ll give the accent a go, I can point out mountains, got a hero2, and most importantly a Deviate ! No one will know the difference 👍
What's the easiest way to lap that side of Aboyne? When I was there 2-3yrs ago, I rode Chutney/Relish a few times and then cycled over and did Master Blaster/Panic Button. Remember the climb to Master Blaster being brutal and not having the energy for much more after that haha!
Well, actually, I’m not the person to ask as my knowledge of the area is fairly limited. I think the reality is that all the climbs are not all that pleasant.
Great to hear, and good choice sir 👍 Nathan didn’t really ride anymore sadly, life got in the way so to speak. I actually met up with him the other night while he was visiting Scotland.

Life is crazy that way, you never know what the future holds 😊

Been in Aberdeenshire since January and had no idea these were on my doorstep. Thanks pal.

Cheers Taffy 👍
Great video and riding. Really showcases the area. Feel deeside is slept on.
I feel the same, more people need to be aware of the quality and quantity of the riding in the area.
Good to see you back at it.👍
Thanks Kev, it’s been a while😬

The amount and quality of the riding in the area is so good! It’s worth a few days of your time for sure.
Always good 😊😊
Beast of a rock garden, difficult enough when it's on the flat 👌
An impressive feature for sure 😲

It’ll work in Scotland, but maybe not many other places 😜
Great video as always 👍. The Rekon is my most favourite rear tyre. For me punishes way above its weight. Just wish it was strong enough for the alps. Now that would be perfect
Loved the end of the video. The rain makes me want to be out in that on my bike 👍
I’ll need to actually try a Rekon then, because it turns out I’m actually running an Aggressor🤦🏼♂️
@@McTrailRider lol. For me so was super impressed by the Rekon. I wish they made it in a tougher casing. If so it would be me all year round rear tyre
Another class belta vid dude 👏
Thanks dude
They don't muck about in Aboyne do they?!! Wow man. Top level riding 👌
It’s honestly one of my favourite places to ride right now Jamie👌
