    My 100 dollar Casio msy-500 was my only watch from age 15-28 before I got into watches has zero QC issues. I had two seiko 5s but the build quality and QC really got to me and I've not looked at Seiko since, I love seeing reviews of them but will not pull trigger until they decide we are worth enough to fix it

      Totally understandable. Despite the facts I went down the Seiko rabbit hole… Thanks for your comment!

    I have tiny defects with watches all the way up to Rolex. With Seiko, I almost expect it. Doesn't stop me from owning a few. You will find something if you try to look. Some of you shine a torch onto the dial (one of my buddies lol)... and press it against your face... ofcourse you will find something...

    ABSOLUTELY! this should be talked about more, even though it's become accepted that seiko has rotten alignment. i stopped purchasing seiko years ago...at any price i don't need to deal with bad quality.

    Agree 100%. They really need to do something with the quality control. I bought my last Seiko (Arctic Monster) and it's of course misaligned on the chapter ring :(. Last Seiko for me now, until they have solved it out. I even seen fake Seiko on wish and they ARE MISALIGNED :) to look genuine, ridiculous.

    Its unfortunate these QC issues happen in almost all Seiko price ranges. One can expect that in sub $200 pieces but I have seen it in their $1200 watches too and at that price it’s unacceptable. Seiko does so many things right in their watches but it seems that in almost every piece there is one or two things that are just so wrong (alignment issues in $500-1200 pieces, lack of bracelet and clasp quality across all models, accuracy in their high end pieces etc). I just don’t understand how can a $2500 Marine Master or $4000 SLA series run -15/+20 sec/day… Swiss watches in that range are all COSC certified

      @@polygoncoco correct, their game of “discontinuing” models just to revive them in a different line with upgrading the movement with minimal changes for 3x the previous price is a bit obvious money grab.

    Had a skx0013 back in the day and sold it because I fell on hard times, I loved that watch and it was my first automatic. Bought an SRPD a couple months ago and the misaligned chapter ring drives me nuts, on an almost 300 dollar watch that quality control is unacceptable. Bought an islander diver that has a better movement, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, a screw down crown (srpd does not) and the action on the bezel has less play. For around maybe 30-40 dollars more you get so much more. No longer going to bother with seiko's, even though i want to love them.

    I don't get it they all look fine to me? The misalignment is so small you can barely see it.

    The PRX Powermatic 80 is probably a better comparison here. Well made, 80 hours power reserve and as far as I've read accuarte to about +/-5 seconds per day.
    I've examined the dial of mine (Quartz) with a pocket microscope and even under 40x magnification there is little to complain about. Clean polishing and printing, no dust or dirt (a surprising number of moderately priced watches are rather filthy under the crystal) and proper index alignment. Except second-hand alignment of course, had to look at multiple examples before I found one that didn't bother me in that regard, but that's not an issue with the automatic.

    As long as i am a Seikoholic also i agree with everything you said and im wondering if sometime in future they will fix their QC or they will keep going like this forever because people like us still buy them..

    I'm pretty unlucky with my first Seiko and first automatic at that. It's a Seiko Presage SRPD41J1 which retails at about 550 USD. I thought the chapter ring was the one that's misaligned but I think it's actually the indices that are not properly put on. Are things like these covered by warranty?

    Great Seiko video as always. It’s a pleasure to hear the viewpoint of another Seikopath LOL 😂. Your spot on about the Sumo as you already know I own the SBDC033 Blumo and still my favorite and best watch. So I see you still have your Marine Master. Sorry to hear you bumped it against a wall ouch 😣 that must of hurt when that happened. How bad did it mess up your bezel ? Can it be fixed or repaired?

      Thanks Joseph! Always a pleasure to read your comments. The MM 300 is ok so far, the bezel still turns but sometimes makes a strange noise. At some point I‘ll bring it to my local Seiko AD also to adjust its time-keeping (running a bit fast). Still love the MM300 and my Hulk Sumo. Just put the MM300 on the crafter blue rubber for summer😎 All the best

    The Seiko misalignment is their anti-counterfeit feature. If the alignment is perfect on the dial, you know it’s a chinese knockoff.

    Same issues with the marker on my green king turtle. Buy at the retail price, I am a bit annoy, agree again me for buying it.

      Even though we see the flaws, we‘ll stick to the brand because it still is in my humble opinion the company with the most unique designs under 1000 EUR (Turtle, Samurai, Monster, 5KX, Tuna and so on). I hate that I love Seiko🤣

    I agree basically on all your points regarding the QC issues - except for the point that its ok/acceptable for 200/300$!
    It should never be acceptable for a company (specially with such a rich history as Seiko) to deliver such bad QC at any pricepoint...
    Other than that - great content 🤘🤘

    • @watchyouwant1617

      Thank you very much and of course, you‘re right. The qc issue isn’t acceptable for a brand like Seiko

      Yes. Theirs no excuse. Even my casio mdv106 aka bill gates 44 dollar watch has perfect alignment. 30 dollar times as well... as long as we still purchase these watches they will keep doing it. Now I got rid of all my seikos except my tuna ninja. Perfect alignment

    @watchyouwant? Just curious, does your Tissot watch's second hand land on the indices?

    • @watchyouwant1617
      @watchyouwant1617  2 года назад

      No, it doesn’t 🤣but it’s not a quality standard among quartz watches (except Grand Seiko probably) so it’s not a quality control issue in my opinion

    • @BL-yj2wp
      @BL-yj2wp 2 года назад +2

      I've looked at six or seven Quartz PRX pieces when I went to buy mine, two (mostly) hit the markers.
      For as well the PRX is made, in terms of second-hand alignment they can take a page out of Casios book.
      Accuracy is what you would expect from Quartz, mine is about 3 seconds fast per month, so no issues there.

    For me, a budget over €1000, I would not buy a seiko but swiss made brand instead

    • @watchyouwant1617

      Definitely one way to go but I would, e.g. always buy my MM300 again. The finishing is just outstanding
