Social media was mentioned in a Bible study that I am doing. It is called ""Social ME-dia"" because many focus on the aspect of ""me me me me me me me""
I try to moderate using social media, lol, many times I get depressed or envious of people, it just seems like everyone's life is so beautiful, although I know most posts are highlights of their lives...idk, maybe I need to work on my self esteem. But yeah, it can be a distraction and lead one to be obsessed into wanting something better than that person or to somehow gain validation with likes. But at the end of the day, it should only be the audience of One, God, himself who we should yearn to please and receive validation from.
Much respect for your honesty and transparency, Doris Lim. I have had those thoughts and struggles at times as well. Lately I have been moving towards putting out more no filter, and perhaps vulnerable posts. People need to know the REAL DEAL!
Swords Sunflowers The Lord is the only validation you need and his word. Im finding the same thing happening. I was broke when I was younger so its like yay im in the new now. Ya its really not that great in fact ive stopped even working around my house and attending to yourself. Ya i think its junk liking insecurities of others myself because psychologically thats all it is rigged to do since the confident person will not need likes. Ppl actually already assume if you’re confident that you do not need the rewards likes. Your reward is with the Lord because we were bought with a price. Honestly I think Ive wasted 4 yrs slowly forgetting what it was like to live.
True this. Social media is definitely a tool that can be used wholsomely, but there are so many ways to mess up while using it. I think jealousy and pride are big dangers too for social media usage. Granted, those two are big dangers in regular life, but social media seemes to exacerbate it. How do you deal with jealousy especially online?
I couldn't have said it better myself. So profound! I thank God for your truthful, kind, and righteous sharings. I pray that all who need to hear this do. I needed to and didn't realize it until I did!
This is a great video, my bro! In this age of social media, there are ppl literally living for the "gram" & meditating on what, how, when, where to post their next story. And I've realized that instead of being a poster or sharer (which is my natural personality), I've become a consumer of ppl's posts! I dunno how that even happened...it's a slow (and sometimes insidious) process. It's my intention to always encourage someone while I'm on social media & add to the positivity (which can be almost impossible sometimes). I also have realized that I'm becoming a collector of social media "friends", whereas I used to enjoy making friends irl. I appreciate this heads-up vid, Mark. 💖👍🏿
Mark, you're right that it's the heart of man and not the social media content, per say. I had recently deactivated my Facebook profile because I felt my intentions in using that platform wasn't growing the kingdom of God -- to be honest, I found myself utilizing others and trying to catch the attention of a certain man (not with suggested selfies, mind you). But listening to your message I realized it's my heart. I could go back to social media (Instagram, too) a yr from now or even 10 yrs, I would still have a heart that doesn't have the right intentions in why I'm using it. So, I need the Lord to work on my heart and not social media content just so I won't be tempted with idolizism. It's not about the content...
So well said regisnyder Regina Snyder. I like the point you made about using different platforms later on but if the heart issue remains it will still be a problem. For out of the overflow of the heart, the fingers post...." (Luke 6:45) I may have paraphrased a bit :)
When social media first came on the scene, I wasn't into it at all. One day I was bored and decided to pass the time by setting up a Facebook account. It was then that God begin to lead me to use social media to encourage others with His word which I still do today. I believe that social media isn't bad, It how you use it.
Thank you my man!! Solid advice that I took a lot from! GOD is using you in a mighty way my friend. I appreciate you. GOD bless you and your family!!...
What I was thinking about social media and how you can use it is how I was going to use it this show people where you go in the awesome places you go in your life
Thank you AGW.. I only watch RUclips and do not participate in social media! Personally I have found it too be somewhat judgmental, and it’s easier too not put my life out there anymore. Still praying for knowledge of discernment! Again may God continue to BLESS THIS CHANNEL🙌🏼🙏🏼☝🏼💪🏼👆🏼😇🎚
I'm on Facebook mainly for a christ centered women's ministry called pinky promise. I usually go on there to share my personal issues to get advice from like minded people or i post encouragement to other women. I also share my testimony alot and share bible scriptures. Social media is not bad but when you spend too much time on it Facebook and instagram can cause jealousy because it often looks like everyone has a much better life than you do. I definitely use it in moderation.
My husband and I have both agreed to go back to flip phones and if we need to look at something or check email we will do on a shared laptop. Our divorce rates and damaged relationships come from the enemy using something that seems so innocent at first.
Great post the end message was spot on it’s what’s in the heart lot of people post things but the heart is what matters and the reasoning behind it posting or commenting
Yeah, pride is a big issue. It is not how you do something, but why you do something necessarily. Feeling loved through other people is something I am working on still as I want to be a big Christian pop and Christian worship singer, and with a job like that it is easy to make yourself an idol, or make others idols. I agree with these points. I'll type them out so I can see them to summarize, and so others can see them as well. 1. Do not use social media to be liked by other people 2. Use social media to share, not to debate 3. Don't share something with someone who is not willing to listen 4. Follow people, don't stalk people 5. Why are you doing what you're doing 6. Don't judge the motives of other people 7. Don't use social media for laziness 8. Don't use social media to cause other people to stumble
I love to see what's going on in people's lives. But I went to far with a guy in my cellgroup, he told me off on social media. Felt really embarrassed but I apologized to him back in social media. Now, we are ok.
Good idea, I honestly don't know too much about the specific apps but here's a video about online dating in general. ruclips.net/video/frp4dj1X_Dk/видео.html
Love your channel. I talk about wrestling on Twitter and etc. And celebrity news and watch some breakfast club. I don't know I could just pray and ask God is this okay with you I do this?
As long as it does not violate God's commands I don't see the harm in certain forms of entertainment. But some entertainment promotes sin, so yeah, we all just have to weigh through those personal choices with God. Thanks for sharing!
I love using social media but I often spend too much time on it. I actually downloaded an app on my phone to temp block programs when I need to focus on writing and such. I avoid debates online, especially when I see that they haven't really read my comments thoroughly or are being too negative...what's the point? I often post healthy food on instagram w recipes but I have been tempted more often than not to post more of what Im doing (I post other things not just food) but Im showing only one side. I believe that social media can so easily deceive people as you display only what others want to see. I got on a rant...ha. These are my thoughts.
Great thoughts, thanks for sharing them with us! Good stuff :) And I agree, what's the point when people are not actually listening to what you say but just say stuff to argue. There's too many good opportunities for ministry and healthy socializing to waste time on the dead ends.
Can you make a video about what Christians can and can't do about how to live their life right without sinning against God. I feel like I'm sinning from what I'm hearing about this video about social media :(
3 types of cyberbullying. Exclusion, denigration and outing. On RUclips, I need to socialize often.I'm always on top of these posts like I'm a troll until I delete, then others start posting.
Finding that using social media as a tool for your life is best. Whether its for a dinner to cook or advice in life like this. No one needs to build anyone up that doesnt appreciate it either. Finding that ppl sit and basically look at other lives in pictures and like them. Doesn’t seem they want to have a good laugh anymore or look at anything educational so dont feel bad guys. In case anyone does like me. Some ppl just aren’t on the same mind wave length as others or maybe its their walk in life at that moment. I mean nothing wrong with ppl sharing photos of life but I just gets vibes its either about boasting or theyre not someone who is any important in your life that doesnt return friendship online or real life. Maybe Im a troll idk, but I dont have families and the expense to go on vacations etc. i dont get jealous I think its good ppl live but its sorta like a “ONe sided relationship, vibe I mean.” All I know is that in real life you only have a handful of ppl who actually support you and you support them back. There is a good passage I believe in Corinthians but Paul writes it. He talks about the church, (which is all of us in Christ,) and then ppl that are not “OF,” the church theyre in a status of sin or you have to walk away for the salvage of your own soul.” I cant qoute the exact verse atm but thats the underlying message I have of it. Surround yourselves with good ppl who make you feel good because they’re humane and vice versa. A healthy community of support systems is essential in a persons life. Thats the best way to go; although theyre sometimes the hardest to find in life.
You mentioned celebrities... It would be nice for you to explain to your viewers HOW these individuals end up with fame, money, and power in the first place- *they pay the price with their soul, coupled with a form of sacrifice*, prior to the peak of their success. Hollywood is named after the actual wood from the holly (bush/ tree). The wood is used to make witch & warlock wands used for sorcery/spells, and satanic purposes. Hence the evil, and vile productions of the movie/music industry. Food for thought. Moreover, the creators of Face-Hook won't even allow their own children to use the platform that they themselves created, so you may find some intrest in researching that subject matter.
Social media was mentioned in a Bible study that I am doing. It is called ""Social ME-dia"" because many focus on the aspect of ""me me me me me me me""
I heard the same thing , it's self idolatry
Is it an online Bible study?
This was good, not enough people talking about this like this in the church
Woah what you said about social media magnifying who we are really hit home

Doris Lim, Amen, Sis! Well said, indeed!
And amen again! Very well said.

HOWEVER.. it's different for me, I am content that I have God in my life, I just don't get what it's for if social media isn't social anymore (For me)

Ya, I am glad but I still feel awkward wanting to ask him questions. Feel shy.
How about about dating apps like Tinder? Maybe make a video for that topic
Good idea, I honestly don't know too much about the specific apps but here's a video about online dating in general. ruclips.net/video/frp4dj1X_Dk/видео.html
Stay away from it. It’s toxic and I never include myself in this apps. Rather meet a man of God elsewhere.
So so good!!❤️🙌🏻

Only person we should like, follow and be friends with is God/Jesus.
I’m getting rid of it!

Well is it ok to watch television? I like to watch marvel TV shows about super heros... I hope that doesn't violate Gods commandments
This may help applygodsword.com/should-christians-watch-tv-is-watching-tv-sinful/
What happens if you do put a lot of Christian comments or Christianity on social media? Do they lock you up or something?
