Currently using two soft boxes but they are so bulky and aren’t as adjustable as I would like. I am currently working off a Canon G7X for all my videos would you have a recommendation on which of the two would work well alongside it? Love all your videos guys!
Perfect timing for this video bc this is the main thing im looking to buy right now and have been trying to find the best advice on lighting! Im currently using a ring light i made, a cpl clippable construction lamps w 5500k bulbs and a dewalt spot light. My husband and mom are looking to buy me a ringlight. he found 1 at a photography store for almost $300 but honestly for that price id rather get a lil cheaper of a light and also an external hard drive or extra camera battery or something. Is there really that much of a difference or is it really worth the xtra $$? the biggest differences we found between the $300 and $120 one i found online was the digital screen, carrying case and one was portable bc it ran off battery which plugging in doesnt bother me at all as I will mainly be shooting makeup videos and some videos around the house for home decor, DIYs and actual construction and remodeling. So whats the main things I should be looking for that worth spending the extra $$?? or is there a certain brand or something? Any advice would be much appreciated as they are trying to buy 1 asap for me. thanks and i hope you have a beautiful day!!!
I found identical lighting, different brand of course. 660 LED lights but, with all the other features you mentioned. It has 96+ CRI. It is the Neewer 2 Pieces Bi-color. I found it on amazon for a kit of 2 with carrying bag, barn doors, tripod, and diffuser for each all for $159. Plus I got a small LED light that can go on your camera or back lighting and a tripod for it, all of this cost me like $212. I am planning to start a youtube channel. My point is starting out, you do not need to break the bank. With a nice camera and the light everything to start cost me around 700 bucks. Not counting the computer I already own. Some people started with cell phones and there is videos for that.
Sean, Your Videos are just the thing us budding You-tubers need, Just always very informative and sound advice. My Channel has changed so much over a short period of time just by implementing some of the Advice. Thank You !!
Thanks Sean. Oldest daughter and I decided to start up a channel...just for something to do together. I earmarked $1,500 for gear, and this exact lighting kit made the cut. We literally got them assembled (nothing to it) yesterday. Our initial impression is that they are an incredible value (as you said). My oldest has a part-time job doing lighting for a local live theater, so she knows a bit about lights. She was really impressed with the DMX capability (though we probably won't use it ourselves). On the subject of gear, I also grabbed the Canon M50 on your recommendation (which Amazon is running for $599 ($100 off) right now). Happy with it so far. Our "studio" is starting to come together. We're moving a few pieces of furniture out each night...and having content meetings. This project has already been a whole lot of fun for both of us (which is the entire point for me)...and we haven't even shot video one yet!! Did some camera tests just so I could run some video though my editing software, but nothing we want to publish just yet. We're targeting January to actually start putting up content. And honestly, as long as everyone's having fun, and moving the ball towards the end goal...the "go live" target is just that...a target. Thanks for all the inspirational videos. I would likely have never brought up this idea to her if I hadn't run across this channel. Quick note...I got both the lighting and the camera for 10% off of the prices listed. Exactly how...well...that will get explained in one of my videos.
Michael McLaughlin awesome Michael! Thanks for the feedback about the lighting and canon m50. Glad to hear they are working out so far! Excited to see your 10% off hack 😎
I currently use two soft boxes. I definitely want to level up my lighting. I love the footage Omar had of the shoot he did at night. The lighting was softer but also still bright. If it wasn’t pointed out, I would have thought it was shot during the day. That’s what I want to achieve. I would like to have the flexibility to shoot at night since I have 4 kids.
I'm just using my phone for right now but I do have some money coming in next month so I am going to invest in some better light. I love what you do you have been very encouraging to me thanks so much I'm definitely going to continue watching you keep up the good work❤️❤️❤️
DANG!!!!!! thats crazy price and very tempting! will definitely save for these as they would take up SO much less room than my softbox type use in the lil room i record in,
Yes I am thinking of upgrading my lightning because I use a window for light AND In the drummer that is great but in de winter I don’t get so much light of it I am looping for cheap lights so I am deffintly going to watch that playlist
I was using just a newer light box but it reflected too much on my surface. So I added 2 umbrella lights. I like the affect with both the newer and umbrellas with a filter screen over the newer.
Sean you inspired me so much to finally start my channel!!!! I'm always on the lookout for ways to upgrade my content game. Thanks so much for helping me get out of that fear zone and to just start posting!!! .🎥❤
Wow i feel the exact same way! I remember a few months ago he suggested just posting any video to my channel as private just to at least get the feel of it. I did that 3 months ago i think...and it wasnt till about 2am this morning that i FINALLY posted my first public video!! i had to just set myself a goal otherwise id keep procrastinating like i have been. it ended up being a day late bc of technical issues but i did it! and also set myself the craziest goal i could possibly do but at least ill get a lot of experience! lol. hopefully i can actually succeed! my 1st video isnt great by any means but i am SOOOOO proud of it just because I finally faced my fear!! congrats to u and ur channel! has it gotten easier for you to post now since you posted that 1st video??
I use 4 clip lamps on my desk two aimed at me and two at the green screen and the room light as overhead. I use the daylight bulbs on all at the 6500k and it has I’m proved my face cam quality hoping to upgrade next year
Hey Sean. Geat video. Are there any specific guidelines as to what kelvin number I should set the lights to? Any recommendations? OR does it even matter if I'm going to adjust the custom balance anyway?
Great Video... Because of this video, I just bought two of these and can't wait to get them. Grin... I have two quick questions... Where do you buy inexpensive V-Lock batteries? Why are they so expensive to begin with??? Thanks again for such an informative video.
Very tempting. I’ve been using the budget kit from one of your videos for my own short films. But it’s hard since I can’t change temperature or brightness so this is very tempting lol
Sean, all the Fovitec amazon links are currently unavailable. Seems like Fovitec released new versions? Is it possible to do a revised video or change the links in description to comparable products? Thanks a lot in advance.
Awesome content once again! I started a channel and use some of the lighting out of your videos that you recommend! What a difference it has made! Its crazy how much cheap lighting can help!
I’ve been thinking about leveling up on lighting for RUclips, but want to understand the differences between this lighting and soft box? I just do lifestyle videos in house.
Great video Sean I really love watching your channel it has given me inspiration to continue with my channel appreciate that I'm on a journey to bringing awareness on drugs and how it affects our lives and the lives of our families
I just purchased these lights. 2 quick questions. In a room with no daylight what lighting settings do you suggest to initially try? The background is a black foam brick wall. Also if I'm sitting at a desk whats the optimum angle and distance that the lights should be from me? Thanks dude! Keep up the good work
Excellent recommendations! I read on Amazon that there is an adapter for the Sony NP-f90 that can be used in place of the V-Mount battery SP16-002. $200 for one battery is a bit pricey. Thanks...
Great video but it does feel like an advert. Another review video showed that the stands are very wobbly with the lights on them which I was surprised that you didn't mention.
What is the best lighting for crafting videos.I know you do a lot of talking and interview shots so the lighting is different. But what do you think works well for overhead lighting facing a table?
Dude we in Germany do not get this set with the digital panel in the back we get the one with only one knob in the back or two if you lucky and we get them for 350 big ones we get screw here in Europe not to mention if you want to get them from the UK.
If I'm looking for max output and am comfortable using gels, would it make more sense to get daylight 600's and use CTO's to warm up the shot if needed?
Hi..I so appreciate your videoes. Been binge watching the past couple of days. Thank you. NOW..If I am to film yoga videos do you reccomend this kit or the kit with the softboxes? Thank you so much again🙏💖

HI Sean - Great VT - What would you recommend for my RUclips Videos - my Neewer Soft Boxes were good - I bought them due to your review - however poor quality and I had to return - what is my next step up - happy with this cost - just wonder if I can add soft box to these?
Does anyone have the 900 or 1200 LED light kits? Wondering if price wasn’t an object which one would be best? Sometimes the 600 seems not bright enough, but wondering if 1200 would be too much light?
As a screenwriter, im Trying to stay consistent in my filmmaking. I have so many older films im putting out and just biting the bullet on. Would love everyone's input.

SOLD! I'm totally buying this for my channel, through your affiliate link of course ;D
For RUclips videos with two people in them, would it be better to get four 600 panel kits & place them below, above & on both sides or would two 1200 kits be better? Or 2 of these 600 light kits & 2 ring lights or something like that?
I have a soft box lighting kit, would you say these are better lights? Also I noticed that you said they have dmx inputs and outputs. That is something that softbox lights do not have. Should I buy these lights for videos seeing as how they can have a warmer, or cooler tone to it, for RUclips videos, or continue using softbox lights?
J T.V I use softboxes as well as similar light panels too. It’s a matter of convenience, and how “big” the light (and power depends on your existing light) you need. Recently, I only use light panels cos convenience rules me over the big soft quality. I need to setup and pack up every time I shoot, move around frequently and these panels save me huge amount of time. Of course adjustable colour temperature is another killer feature as my big light is pure daylight white and need gel to change colour...

Just picked these up using cyber Monday code and got the kit for $200. amazing deal.
What a great find. Even for professional films you can use these as fill lights. And for the cost, it's a no-brainer. Thanks.
You're welcome Todd - glad the video helpful - keep crushing it! 👊💯
Hey Sean. I've been watching you for years (on my personal account) and just realized that you're coming up on a million subs. So dope man.

Sean - thanks, excellent video. I am using the Fovitec 600. Purchased three panel lights at their facility in Irvine. They were so nice and helpful.

👓 Glasses question! Would these ideal to have two angles to avoid the glare? Needing to work around my husband’s glasses for video. 🤓 Thanks!

Maybe cover best economical lighting for desktop surface filming- aka crafting or cooking that doesn't show the face- just the hands?
I wonder when Amazon will deliver in pakistan. Desperately waiting.
Excellent recommendations! I read on Amazon that there is an adapter for the Sony NP-f90 that can be used in place of the V-Mount battery SP16-002. $200 for one battery is a bit pricey. Thanks...
FYI... The link still works, but Amazon only has options to buy a used one. I'm guessing they made a newer version.
Thank you so much! It makes it so much easier to shop :)

I use a 40 W Syska led bulb as key light and and an led panel as fill light. Still struggling with the right balance.
Definitely could do with some lighting keep up the good work
Have you got any updated ideas in this range or the neewer 660 lights ? Budget led 2019 ? Same kind of kit, stands etc...for RUclips video yoga instructor content? Great advice btw!!!
you recommended for video studio? and what else for youtube videos, thx
Which case do you recommend to carry the light stands? Do you carry a separate bag from the led panels/cases?
I was wondering what Lights would be good to use to film beauty/makeup videos
Henna Ali would go for soft boxes - check out the playlist I mention in this video 👊🏼💯
What do you recommend for beauty videos? I used two soft boxes and a ring light and still had to mess with the settings in Final Cut Pro because it wasn’t looking right.
Thanks for the video. What do you think about NEEWER LED NL-660? It’s almost an identical set for $160... at least in my untrained eyes.

are there any compatible soft boxes for these lights or is that a different type of lighting kit?
How is this in comparison to the neewer that you recently did...whats the best deal?
