Hey! I just wanted to say I got my class B cdl today. This video was the only one I watched (several times). It prepared me very well. My instructor said I did an excellent job on the walk-around and in cab inspection. Thank you for this video!
Also...I wouldn't be surprised if I wake up in the middle of the night muttering, "not broken, not cracked, on secure..."😂

Great video,I have a remark about the air brake in cab part. I believe you also have to show the air tank will build from 85 to 100 psi in 45 seconds or less and that the air governor kicks out when the tanks are full around 125 psi. I appreciated your video my friend!

Where would you put that in order with the brake test that he showed?

@Will Mayr I would assume after depleting the tank showing the spring brakes work for kicking out brake at low air level

I watched a few videos but ended up watching this one a few times for its content and length. It served as a great review before my test. I did not have to do a tug test on my parking brake but I discussed it. Also I watched the air come up after the test but my tester moved on and started talking about the next part while the air came up I only confirmed the cutout before proceeding. I passed my test on a class B dump truck and the drivers side of the truck was randomly selected by the computer in NY. Instructor wanted me to put my hands on everything and explain what I was inspecting and what for. I led with an overall approach to the truck to look for leaning indicating broken suspension, flat tire, or shifted load, and things hanging or puddles. Then I proceeded from the front door to the back of the truck noting everything unique to the dump truck as well such as tailgate hinges, locks, door hardware, tarp motor and arm, no holes in the box, nothing loose on the tailgate. This video was a great help. A minor note for the road test that may be unique to my situation but the tester never said a thing about me floating the whole way thru the test. Not saying it's right, or that it's how it should be done but my friend letting me learn on his new truck refused to let me try to double clutch on his truck. I skipped learning it and I am sure his transmission suffered and even though I had 2 terrible downshifts it wasn't a problem possibly because I aced everything else thru study and didn't have any issues handling the size of the truck thru maneuvers. I was stressed that my NY manual said to always double clutch and I didn't want to get disqualified. I used the clutch when I needed to get out of a jam and did everything else by the book. Move your head so your tester knows that you are checking your mirrors and traffic.

@@traviscarter1023 so far all I did was class B because I only had a dump truck for my test. Also my buddy was strict about not using the clutch in his truck and I was comfortable all along handling the trucks size but the shifting, engine sound, clutch, was so different than anything I had ever shifted, it was all I could do to get thru it in a manual transmission. Good thing is I don't have the restriction so I can take the class A in an automatic now. Glad I did it that way. I probably could have studied the pre trip and taken it right away in an automatic. Good luck to you if you are taking yours. Get all the points you can in the pre-trip, it would stink to make all that effort and miss it on a technicality.

@CF-wj5hc OK I well be watching these videos on how to drive a stick shift. And practice with the plunger. And do a bunch of practice test videos. I'm also waiting on my birth certificate to come in. My boss also told me to get with him to start naming off the parts under the hood for the pre trip to get better at that .

Hello! Help me! ) Why do different teachers use different words when showing inspection? Everyone has their own version of the text! Some speak briefly, others add their various details! Is there a document somewhere that defines what I say on the exam? Or is it also a test for oratory? Can you perform a poetic version? )
    For example:
You: Headlights. They're not broken not cracked unsecure clean and clear.
Another: The headlights are proper clear color, clean, not cracked, undamaged and have no moisture inside.
Another: The headlights are clean, properly mounted and secure, not cracked, bent, or broken, and not fogged out.
Another: My headlights high beams and low beams clearing color, securely mounted, not damage, are broken in good condition.
    ? )

So let me get this straight…we are supposed to triple check all the lights? You checked them already and then decided to recheck it when you got into the cab. As if you didn’t just check all your lights before. This is confusing.
