I know they are oil based paints, but can you use them on items that needs to be washed? like wine glass or containers? will the soap eventually wash off the color?
From what I have heard, it will fade a bit over time as it is washed, but it holds up well, there has not been any study to confirm how long or how many "Washes" can be completed.
Hey, great work! I have a couple of questions: About the color, is it in real life just like the color portrayed in the video. My second question is if the paint stays on the mirror, doesn’t it fade away or go away if you clean the mirror? My third question is if this paint will also work on mirrors that are hand engraved? Kind regards :)
The images in this video are not enhanced; the contrast and color will depend on the paint used, and the paint will fade depending on the type of paint used, similar to wiping a painted wall with time, it may fade; however, with more durable paint, it will last longer. This process should work with hand engraving. However, this is the first time we have tried this since we are laser people!
How long do the oil based paints take to dry on the surface? I am making some signs to go on a wall using acrylic and wondered whether to use acrylic paint or oil based paint?
Question on Rub N Buff, I am looking for a good Gilding alternative for glass, have you tested how well it stays after drying. I did not know rub n buff actually dries I thought it kinda stayed a wax that can be washed out with soap and water
Does one method work better than the other on different material? Or does it basically depend on the colors you want to use since it seems rub n buff has limited colors?
Hi Nic! The finished effect when paint filling varies depending on the material, paint, or inks used in this process. Some types of liquid coloring can work better on some materials. Each pigment formulation, viscosity, and color can produce unique effects depending on the desired outcome. Testing is recommended to be sure of the final look.
Hi Dave! I am looking to color fill Anodized Aluminum Metal Business Cards. I have gold cards I want to fill black and black cards I want to fill gold. I have a 30w fiber.. would the Rub and Buff work do you know? Or how else can I achieve this? Thank you!!!
That is challenging because rub 'n buff will not work this way on anodized aluminum, as it is a porous ceramic coating and not polished, so the rub 'n buff will color the entire surface if you try this and you cannot mask it because a fiber laser will not engrave the paper masking because of the wavelength. The only thing that I can think of is to spray the anodized aluminum with a clear polyurethane (possibly two coats) to seal the porous surface, then engrave it with a fiber to mark the anodized aluminum, and then use rub 'n buff or oil-based paint to rub in color. - Laser Dave
@@TrotecLaser Ohhh that all makes sense! Thank you for getting back to me. This project has been something else for sure. I think I will try the Poly to see how that works! THank you so much! Tara
Fiber lasers can be used to produce enough depth in to metals to allow some paint to be rubbed in, however this process was not shown in the video. The glass, stone, and acrylic all require the CO2 Laser.
Sir i need to fill this paint in aluminium and Stainless-steel in tiny matter. Please also tell me how to bake this colour because we have production work.
There is a QR code for the grayscale glass laser hack or you scan use this link: ruclips.net/video/cJBQW7WSg0E/видео.html As for settings, that will vary based on the wattage of laser and the material used, the materials database should have most of the correct settings.

Thank you, Sir, for this outstanding video. My search is over; now I can finish my project in style. Kudos!
Thanks Dave, I have used the gold rubnbuff alot, just don't let it dry :)
I use it on round work like wine and wiskey glasses.
how do the drinking glasses wash with the rub and buff?
Excellent ⭐️☝️
How would you seal the paint? Or does it dry to a permanent finish that does not need to be sealed?
There is no need to seal the paint

That is a good question. I am not sure; please consult the instructions from the paint manufacturer for drying time.
Thank you!
Beautiful, what red did you use for the white acrylic? I don’t see a true red for rub n buff?
I used an off-the-shelf oil-based art paint for the red.
Very timely, thanks! Question: How does that look on the reverse side of the clear glass?
The color will come through and can be seen on the backside, but it will not be quite as bright because glass frosts when it is engraved.
Awesome video.
Glad you enjoyed it

This is a good question, and we do not have this information; you may want to contact the manufacturer for this issue.

Great tip and product, this can be applied to light colored marble and granite ?
Absolutely!

I was wondering if this is available with Speedmarker 1300. Thanks.
Amazing hack thanks for sharing,, would you think acrylic paints would work on acrylic sheets the same way?
Yes, acrylic paints work, but the color does not stand out quite as well as the oil-based paints.
@@davidstevens2577 For acrylic sheets, can I just rub in acrylic paints like how you used the rub and buff?
Hi. Can I please check if this would work on a house sign outdoors, black Marble stone engraved but was not painted
For outdoor use, make sure you use UV-stable paint or at least cover the paint with a UV-stable clear coating.
for diode lasers, if you use the paper method for glass, will this back fill trick still work?
Painting into a laser-engraved polished surface will work anytime!
You mentioned fiber laser, did that only pertain to the metal engraving? co2 for the glass stone & acrylic?

Where did you manage to find titanium white? I can't even find where it exists.
hi how do i get this material
You can get glass anywhere and the run-n-buff from any craft store.
wax based paint? first time hear it..
what is the grayscale laser hack? what settings on a 360 flexx?

So is it waterproof
As this is a wax-based paint it shoud be waterproof
How do you not rub away the paint inside the engrave when you're rubbing away the paint though?
The paint will hold itself in the rough grooves of the engraving and will not rub out.
@@TrotecLaser thankyou for the response :) although whenever i tried to do this the paint rubbed out of the engraving too 🤷♂️
What did you use for the red color? Acrylic?
Yes!
Used red oil based paint and gold rub n buff on the white acrylic.
Wow,nice machine
